Ubisoift is notorious for tacking on mini game crap for the sake of ticking off boxes and I feel Intelligent Systems has been caught doing that.

I haven't been a fan of the Zelda's he's be the lead producer on so I won't expect much from this really. He's taken the franchise into weird directions.

...and yet everyone can't shut up about Eiji Aonuma's Zelda titles lately.

I have most of the AAA SNES VC games for the Wii U and Wii. Pulling stuff like this and having split systems with no crossbuy platform makes me consider giving up on Nintendo and just going the underground Virtual Console route if you catch my drift... It's maddening.

There is no time line except for the games on NES.

Eiji Aonuma needs to hand over the keys to the Zelda franchise.

my prediction is that they'll now have release dates to announce for the games they announced 1+ ago. Same old same old.

[Unpopular opinion] The only good Zelda this guy produced was A Link Between Worlds. He was a Designer on Ocarina and a director on Wind Waker. Everything else isn';t good

My take is that it's a great RPG for the time (GameBoy era). There was nothing that massive for the system. There's a charm to having a system so limited produce such an expansive world. Now that it's gone 3D along with a more complex system, I feel it's lost its charm... or I just grew up. I dunno. I can still enjoy Yellow the same way I did back in 99.

Maybe it's time to give the development to a new producer...

Anyway, I'm sure it will be more of the same on the current gen titles. Low frame rates, slow leveling, and 9000 more pokemon. This is why I've stuck to the classics.

How's the story? Based on the footage I've seen it seems over the top and lacks what made the original GBA and sequels good.

I've been preaching this lately. It's amazing to think about what these developers did with such limited hardware. They built some of the best games in the 90s on a glorified calculator CPU. I've always advocated that some of the best development practice is to create limitations for yourself. It breeds creative thinking.

My Gameboy pocket has had zero updates in its life time and is more stable than the 3DS. ^_^

I would love to see the new Zelda have a similar open world experience as The Witcher III. One thing that bothers me about the Wii Zelda titles is that a game mechanic got in the way of the traditional gameplay I fell in love with in previous Zelda titles. The recent Link Between Worlds had a minor puzzle solving mechanic of becoming flat but the core gameplay was still there. A perfect balance in my opinion.

The kid-friendly appeal of the Zelda series has always been there. It's when the series started to take itself too seriously that I lost interest. That's not to say the new Wii U title won't impress... I'm just hesitant and will wait for reviews
