Re: Koji Igarashi Didn't Expect The Switch Version Of Bloodstained To Be "As Bad" As It Was At Launch

The problem I have is that they lied about the quality of the game at PAX ("the Switch overheated") and then delayed the release a week supposedly to patch the game (which didn't really do anything). If they had just been honest about the port to begin with and put it back in the oven for a few more months, that would have been better than releasing a half-assed product.

We should not excuse lazy developers.

Honestly, it makes more sense to aim for the PS4/Xbox/PC crowd due to the larger install bases and how much easier it appears to be to port to those systems. The Switch is still an outlier for development purposes.

One thing that really annoyed me was the delay of the Switch release to avoid negative reviews and the sites, such as Nintendo Life, that held on reviewing it until a patch was released, which tended to skew the score higher. It should have been reviewed in a pure state.

Absolutely. They knew the Switch port was garbage when they showed it at PAX. They blamed the shoddy performance on "over heating" which was a bald-faced lie.

As to the article, it's just more empty words. They've already made their money on the Switch port. They are not going to magically make millions more when it's patched, so what's the rush? Obviously they do not really care about their reputation, otherwise they would have been honest about the Switch port from the get go and delayed it.
