Yep, you read that right! Obsidian Entertainment is bringing The Outer Worlds to Switch in partnership with Virtuos. Senior Producer Matthew Singh appears in the above video detailing the announcement and discussing the story and setting of the game.

While we shouldn't really be surprised to see big ports coming to the Switch, this one still managed to catch us off guard. A huge sci-fi RPG, the creators of the Fallout series Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky are directors on this first-person space-faring epic, so there's a lot of pedigree to the project.

Nintendo posted the announcement on its Twitter account:

Virtuos are the port house behind previous Switch games including L.A. Noire, Final Fantasy XII, Dark Souls: Remastered and Starlink: Battle for Atlas, so we've got high hopes that they'll be able to squeeze The Outer Worlds onto Switch in fine form.

The game is scheduled to land on other consoles on 25th October 2019 - we'll update when we can confirm if the Switch version will be arriving at the same time. Here's the E3 trailer to bring you up to speed:
