@Max_the_German It wasn't all that different back then, but the N64 sold nowhere near as many units as the Switch currently, let alone when Snap came out on the N64. Bigger audience means it's easier to sell more copies.
@Bolt_Strike Well that's true, but don't they always release the main games and remakes during the holiday period? I'd assume BDSP would've released during the holidays anyway.
Fast travel should've been a free QOL update anyway, especially considering they're asking full price for it, and that holds true even if it was 'only' €40.
@Dr_Lugae The battle stuff looks a bit rubbish I agree (but it was mostly one person, and it was only three months or so, so that's forgiven). But the first minute or so has a very nice visuals I think. It reminds me a lot of the anime, in terms of style and details.
Yeah, the animations look very off, but that person probably isn't an animator. Remember, this isn't the work of a 100-person team over the course of couple of years, this is the work of one person in mere months.
@RGH27 I wouldn't mind a 3D DK game, but DK64's formula is kinda outdated. I don't think it's a fun game to play. But since this is Nintendo, and not Rare, it's probably more going to be like 3D Mario than DK64. Which I wouldn't mind.
@SimonCucho This 'trailer' didn't have a hundred people working on it for 3+ years either...
This is just two people and their spare time during a couple of weeks/months. The in-game models what they've made so far look a lot better than things we've seen from GF.
@Flashlink99 Considering it's still outpacing the PS4, despite the pandemic, I would've been hard to keep up with demand either way. Thing is, they couldn't probably delay it, it probably requires years of planning, not just by themselves, but also with devs. I was fortunate to get one day one.
Well, it's an interesting insight nonetheless. A ''herculean effort'', where everything has to be "brute force hard coded" only requires a 4-5 person team about a year. That suggests that most other ports (that don't require converting controls), generally take much less effort. Which is a good thing, because then you know it doesn't distract from main projects, but also makes you wonder why you're paying full price for them.
@Zuljaras Well, to be fair, pre-orders sold out in like 5 minutes. There would've been more if it wasn't for the pandemic. And it more people pre-ordered, it would've sold out even faster.
@larryisanassman You've said it yourself, some people cannot get vaccinated due to medical reasons, and that's the whole problem. If that wasn't the case, and it was purely your own choice to take the risk, I'd maybe agree (though you can argue that you're keeping a virus in circulation unnecessarily).
And I don't know where this rhetoric comes from, but vaccines (just like acquired immunity by previously contracting the virus) significantly lowers the chance of getting sick and spreading it.
And the thing is, we live in a society where we accept plenty of rules for the greater good. You're not allowed to steal, I think that's a common decency, but is it pro-choice? You have to wear a seatbelt, and so forth. A small vaccine is hardly a medical procedure if you ask me! I know I'm low risk, I'm in my 20s and in good health, but if I can do my part by preventing the spread, I'm all for it.
@larryisanassman Being pro-choice is fair. If you don't want to get vaccinated that's your choice. But at the same time it means an organisation, institute, or company has the choice to refuse your access to shop, park, cinema, or whatever. After all, it has to work both ways in that case.
@Mr-Fuggles777 It actually does. It doesn't guarantee it (as it true for almost anything in real life), but it lowers the risk of transmission significantly. And it makes sense. If you are vaccinated, or acquired an immune response through contracting it, your immune system should be able to take out most of the viruses before they are able to replicate and spread.
I do wonder if you get to play more games, and spend less, how does that equate to the devs? I think the downside of subscription services is that, as the article implies, people will just wait for it to appear on there. So indie games may experience less sales.
Golem is a German metal band. Paras is a place in Pakistan, and there are people named Paras. Loads of these can be explained that way. If they aren't Pikachu, they most likely refer to something else.
@Heavyarms55 Simple. You grow/breed Pikmin, probably on a timer. You use them to fight monsters and gain points, those points/candy can then be invested in new Pikmin, just like how corpes become new Pikmin in the games.
You can probably select a team of 100 Pikmin of different types. Red Pikmin are still immune to fire attacks, etc. Sprays can boost your attack, defence or speed for 30 minutes or an hour. I expect stuff like that, if they do something similar to Pkmn GO.
@Grumblevolcano No, they won't. And that's a stupid way of measuring popularity since those are expensive ports of old games and not even new games. Nintendo isn't that stupid.
@Clyde_Radcliffe It wasn't closed, it's still going. The studio had multiple development teams, but they've been merged and now operate as one big team, focusing mainly on Astro Bot.
I mean, it's cute. But not as good as Link's Awakening. If it was a budget title, I could understand it. But as a full priced remake, I expect more. This one is a pass for me.
@Chandlero Let's not get carried away. TPHD wasn't a real looker either. For a ''HD remaster'' it wasn't quite up to date with most other games at that time.
Wind Waker had the benefit that it still looks good on the Cube.

Re: New Pokémon Snap's Launch Sales More Than Doubled Those Of The N64 Original In The US
Yeah, it is hardly surprising, Switch sold more than 2 times as many as the N64 at this point.

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl And Legends: Arceus Get Confirmed Release Dates
@Bolt_Strike Doubt if Legends was pushed back by a mere 2 months due to covid, they could've scrambled the DP remakes together this fast.
Re: Zelda & Loftwing Is The Only amiibo Compatible With Skyward Sword HD

Re: The Zelda & Loftwing Skyward Sword amiibo Will Cost More Than Regular Figures
€25 for a QOL patch in a full price Wii port. What a joke.

Re: Japanese Charts: New Pokémon Snap's Off To A Good Start, But Resident Evil Village Is A Major Threat
@Flashlink99 I bet it will be easier to get one later in the year. If people stopped buying from scalpers, the situation would be a lot better.

Re: Nintendo's Ready For Acquisitions, When The Time Is Right
@westman98 The amount of times I've seen people suggest companies should just buy another dev is baffling IMO.
Re: Nintendo's Ready For Acquisitions, When The Time Is Right
@mariomaster96 Neither TPC nor GF will let that happen.
Re: Nintendo's Ready For Acquisitions, When The Time Is Right
@mariomaster96 GameFreak doesn't own Pokemon. TPC owns most of it, Nintendo also already owns a part.

Re: Great, Now Pokémon Card Scalpers Are Ruining Cereal, Too
@SwitchVogel Does matter you're a well-adjusted member of society when you have a Galarian Ponyta? Didn't think so.

FYI, the Kyoto studio works on Zelda, and other Nintendo franchises. The Tokyo studio made Xenoblade.

@path4smash Dragonair is an airline company in Cambodia. I also think a good chunk of them are Pokemon GO google requests.
