Re: Revisit The Past In Diablo III's Darkening Of Tristram Anniversary Event

Nico07

@Tasuki My first experience into Diablo was with the base version of Diablo III. It was tainted from the terrible auction house but with the release of Ultimate Evil edition became much better tuned and a better experience. I'm enjoying the Eternal Collection but at some point I feel I need to experience the original games.

Re: Revisit The Past In Diablo III's Darkening Of Tristram Anniversary Event

Nico07

@CurryPowderKeg79 I've quadroople dipped on this game now (not counting previously owning it on PS3). I had Diablo III on PC and PS4 (without Necromancer DLC). Then recently grabbed the Eternal Collection on both Xbox One X and Switch on sale for $20 each. Both getting it on sale and having friends to play with made the decision to buy again a lot easier.

Re: Future Business Shift Could See Nintendo Move Away From Home Console Development

Nico07

I didn't read into this as Nintendo will be producing more smart phone titles but more that it's one possible interest of the current CEO. Sure smart phone apps produce a lot of revenue with regards to Pokemon Go and others but Nintendo has taken the smart approach and released a few titles here and there that make sense for the platform. Yes most of us have a deep rooted fear that Nintendo takes the Blizzard path of contracting out third parties to produce knock offs of first party Nintendo titles and pass them off as next entries in series. But even the complaints against Blizzard are a little over the top. But back to Nintendo, I'm really interested to see what this Mario Kart spin-off smart phone app is that's in development, but more than that am interested in the next main line Switch Mario Kart entry (ala Mario Kart 9 perhaps). I'm also really interested in whatever next iteration of Switch hardware will come about, hopefully a "Switch Pro" or something in that vein. But again I think this article is a little overblown on a topic of a CEO just keeping his options open, don't read too much into it.

Re: Unlock Two Classic Outfits In Mario Tennis Aces Next Month

Nico07

@JayJ I haven't grabbed any costumes in this game with exception of the first for playing the early beta test. Mostly because they aren't really even advertised in the notifications section or anywhere. I was hoping for more from this game but have largely moved on to other games instead which is too bad.

It just seems Nintendo could have done more to make even owners of the game aware of what was available without needing to have access to a phone and follow their Twitter account. As far as I'm aware these aren't even advertised in game.

Re: Feature: 17 Remasters We'd Love To See On Switch In 2019

Nico07

I would honestly buy most of these if remasters or remakes were made. Super Mario Sunshine would be amazing as would Diddy Kong Racing in a modern engine. Reggie recently nixed the Skyward Sword remaster, though that only likely meant it wasn't actively being remastered but could be in the works soon for all we know.

Re: Feature: 17 Remasters We'd Love To See On Switch In 2019

Nico07

@Shiryu Yeah looking at this list I wouldn't mind seeing a F-Zero X remaster, but GX was such a great game. Honestly at this point a compilation of X, GX and AX would be amazing especially with a track editor for X. Nintendo collaborated with SEGA on GX and AX so it seems at this point they would need to pair up with either SEGA again or Shin'en Multimedia would be another option.

Re: Damon Baker Departs Nintendo After 12 Years

Nico07

Damon Baker has only made a public name for himself in several fairly recent Nintendo Directs including the Runbow advertisement above. Outside of that most people probably haven't heard about him. Still he's one of the many that help things flow at NOA and will be missed. Best of luck to him in the future.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

Nico07

The other concern about digital only is 10-20 years from now I can still play the games I own physically on other Switch hardware. Even Splatoon 2 has some components that work out of the box (though sure much of the new content would be missing). Games I own physically now are mine forever. If you just look over at Apple there are some early digital purchases I have that are no longer in my library, they are just gone forever. And that's one major concern of a digital only library is if the game is removed from the store front or worse your digital library it is gone forever. Also there is the concern that games can get patched into oblivion and the final game can be nothing like the game you originally purchased and liked. Not a concern for Splatoon 2, but it happens.

Re: Random: US Homeowner Creates 9-Minute Mario Christmas Display Featuring Dubstep And A Flossing Toad

Nico07

@Dr_Corndog Exactly, the only thing the neighbors have to deal with are the inundation of cars parked out front to watch, and the glaring lights if you live across the way. But most people that hang these types of light shows only have them turned on for a few hours each night. And it's nice the local news broadcast it so locals and us can see it without having to be there in person. Really cool display.

Re: Guide: The Best Micro SD Cards For Nintendo Switch

Nico07

@YiQian It really depends on what games you have digital vs physical and how many games you will have on your Switch. Some games like Battle for Atlas even with a physical card require large 13GB patches. I wouldn't recommend less than 128GB as they frequently sell for $20. I'm just upgrading from a (nearly full) 200GB to a 400GB Sandisk this week. I have a lot of games but most are physical carts. The few that take the most for me are around 20GB each (Bayonetta, Resident Evil Revelations 1 + 2, Battle for Atlas, and a few others).

Re: Mario Tennis Aces Serves Up Luma, Pauline And Boom Boom In Early 2019

Nico07

@Silly_G To your comment of releasing a game when it's complete, it seems that many companies including Nintendo are finding it too easy to release a game now and then finish it later. The game that I can think of which does this would be Street Fighter V on PS4 and PC for example. When it released it received terrible reviews for it's limited roster and number of modes available not to mention being pulled from official tournaments that were set to debut it. Now fast forward several years and the game is many times better than it was and actually a very good game to many. I don't see Nintendo taking this road all too often, but with Mario Tennis Aces and even maybe ARMS before it there was a good concept, flawed maybe a little and lacking in content. Mario Tennis Aces is a decent enough game in my opinion, but really could use some more modes. The extra characters are nice, but likely not really convincing that many more people to buy the game. ARMS as interesting in how short of time it was supported with updates. I don't know if this was for lack of sales or lack of interest by Nintendo or it's development staff in continuing on with the game after the final sets of characters and stages were released. Still I enjoy ARMS and it could have been nice to see it get more support. Ultimately I play games like Splatoon 2 more and I am glad to see it continue to receive updates for a while.

If I were to choose a game to get more updates it would be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the form of a few more classic and new battle modes as well as a new and new retro cup to keep things fresh.

Re: Deals: Black Friday 2018 Is The Best Time To Pick Up A 400GB Micro SD Card For Your Nintendo Switch

Nico07

I have the 200GB card with roughly 6GB free. Most games I own are physical copies with only a few as digital like Splatoon 2, LEGO Worlds, and some eShop titles. Most are pretty small, but if you have titles like Resident Evil Revelations and or Bayonetta they will require you download one of the titles even with physical media and both take around 20GB. Sure I could just delete or transfer the games I'm not playing for now, but I'm okay with the price and would rather have my library available to me without needing to find other storage or redownload. That said I had been watching this to drop and bought off of Adorama the site that Amazon price matched yesterday.

Re: Soapbox: Don't Listen To The Pokémon: Let’s Go Haters - The Game Has Definitely Found Its Audience

Nico07

I bought Let's Go Pikachu for myself and Eve for my daughters. As someone familiar with the anime cartoon series but not so much the games it's been a good entry point for me. I've played several hours of Omega Ruby but that's about the extent of my past experience aside from Pokemon Go. I plan to go in when the new game releases on Switch in 2019 (or 2020). I really like a few mechanics like no random wild Pokemon encounters, and wouldn't mind if the option was available for Pokeball tosses similar to Let's Go but having a traditional method as well.

Re: Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Won't Include Pro Controller Support

Nico07

Yes its disappointing but like Mario Party it's good to know this going in. Still personally it doesnt affect my buying decision as I'll give the Pokeball controller a go. Have they mentioned if the game is playable in mobile mode with dual joycon attached? If so it would be very strange to not include Pro support as they offer the same button for button controls.

Re: Blizzard's Loot Goblin amiibo Will Hoard Treasure For You This December

Nico07

I'm torn on this, I think it's cool but lazy. I hate Funko Pops as yo me they are lazy fascimilies of the real thing and this looks like one. The other thing I dislike as much or more is the exclusivity to Gamestop where a preorder incures a mandatory $5 shipping charge with no store pickup, so it's actually almost $23 with tax.
Despite all this I put in my preorder but will likely cancel later and see if I can pickup in store if I decide to get it. This would have been so much cooler if it looked remotely like the actual goblin in the game.

Re: Guide: Starlink Buyer's Guide - What You Get In The Physical And Digital Editions

Nico07

@Shiryu Shiryu a few more questions about Atlas if that's alright. I bought digitally first and am now buying a few of the exclusive ships and starter packs as I find them.

Does character and ship progression save to the physical toys transfer between consoles? So for example would I be able to level up Levi on Switch and take that character progression to Xbox One or PS4?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 27th)

Nico07

Red Dead 2 on Xbox One X, but also Starlink and Shantae and the Pirates Curse on Switch. If I only had the Switch I would mostly be playing Starlink, it really is a great game. I'll put my plug in here again that it needs Samus and her ship (in physical and digital form) to be a perfect game. Ubisoft make it happen!

Re: GameStop Promo Wants You To Trade-In Your Old Switch For A New Switch

Nico07

@Not_Soos Too bad Best Buy lost their GCU program for new users otherwise I would recommend that. At $30 for two years and 20% off all games including sale prices, toys to life (amiibo), and some other game related items it has saved me a lot of money. They even offer free shipping on everything if you spend enough per year, so you dont need one near you. Hopefully it comes back in some form soon.
The only thing I like about Gamestop is some of their older used game pricing.

Re: Random: Hollywood Legend John Carpenter Doesn't Think Much Of Nintendo Labo

Nico07

Well frankly I haven't watched any of his movies except for Big Trouble in Little China, which was okay but really strange. And I don't really have any interest in them to begin with. But that's kind of besides the point. Obviously his views aren't mine nor are Barrack Obama's on Pokemon.

Frankly I don't really care what celebrities think about really anything in general as most of them are very out of touch with the rest of us.

Re: Guide: Starlink Buyer's Guide - What You Get In The Physical And Digital Editions

Nico07

@Shiryu The game is great and in a way I kind of wish I hadn't gone digital deluxe as I have none of the cool looking figures or ships. Your collection looks great by the way.
On a side not once you scan in a ship, character, or figure can you choose to play them digitally without the toy? So you would basically have the option to just insert the game and play? And if so is there some type of code in the package to unlock this feature? I'm curious to find out.

Re: The Next Yooka-Laylee Adventure Will Be A Crowd-Funded Graphic Novel

Nico07

@DavidMac I think for many there was excitement when the project was first announced back in May 2015 (3.5 years ago) and then when the final project launched it did have some issues with controls and cameras. I backed and bought it for Wii U and then like you received it on Switch. But in the meantime I also picked it up on a sale for PS4 last summer while I was waiting for the Switch release last Fall. Ultimately the Switch release though late, was very good and fixed nearly every single issue I saw in the original game at it's release. Some had issue with the lack of voiced narration in a modern game and a few other peeves with the game, but they had said from the beginning that it would be a classic style game with more modern visuals. Sure Yooka-Laylee took a while to develop and even longer to work out the bugs, but personally I would rather just see them move on to another project. It can be risky especially for a small developer to take on a project that may not be received well by the community, but I think now is the time and the community is ready for them to move on to the next project.

Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

Nico07

@the4seer I know I'm torn on this game too. It's intriguing and I want to pick it up physically with the game, Star Fox, and Arwing. I have Best Buy GCU and can pickup for $63, but it's only $17 more for everything, all pilots, ships, weapons, and other content. Having the extra lives through ships, techniques, weapons, etc seems nice. I wish there was an option to purchase all of the extra DLC for something like $20-$30 so those of us wanting to have both physical and digital could get it all for a decent price. Still this would be $75 (base physical game) plus $20-30 so still around $100 which can be a bit of money, but it's nice to have options.

As for Star Fox I would be okay with a re-release of Zero on Switch with standard controls to tide us over until a real sequel game comes along.

Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

Nico07

@the4seer If someone asks you there are two questions you ask them. First do you want to use physical toys to interact with the game or do you want to save money and go all digital? That said the base digital game is only $60, but for $80 you get every ship, character, weapon, and every piece of DLC. If you want physical toys to hold and use it's $75 and up to roughly $200 for everything providing you can find it in store.

Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

Nico07

@diwdiws Well there is what No Man's Sky was advertised as and then what we got. It was advertised as a explore the vastness of outerspace, participate in dog fights between warring factions, trade, find new life on unexplored planets, and possibly meet up with friends. It ended up being an exploration only game with at least for the longest time no chance of meeting up with friends even if you were on the same place of the same planet. The game has come a long way adding the ability to build your own space station and colony base, but it's still not what most of us wanted. It should have been advertised as an exploration game only with non-friendly droids relentlessly trying to kill you, but everything else could care less about you game.
Ubisoft's game is a space shooter by every definition and I think the author's description covers this fairly well.

Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

Nico07

@paihia You may be able to buy a used copy down the road if someone buys both digital and physical and then sells their cart. Still I'm with you in more options would be better. Personally I want the starter pack with physical cart and toys but an option to buy the rest of the DLC for cheap. It's only $20 more for everything digitally but should you own the physical game the only options are to buy physical toys for everything or piecemeal dlc for not much less than physical. As I still have Best Buy GCU the price difference is small.
