@blackknight77 I actually bought the Arcade1Up Final Fight cabinet in part because of 1944, though I ended up selling it. Such great games and each will be represented (better) in this collection.
@LUIGITORNADO The Disney games while Capcom weren't "arcade" titles, just home releases. Several of those are already available in the Disney Afternoon Collection on PS4, XBOX ONE, and PC (but not Switch, even though it released a month and half after the Switch console).
@sc100 They more or less already have Final Fight arcade in the Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle for Switch. This adds quite a few more games and then options like auto-rewind, and difficulty changes. The version in the current bundle has CRT and other filters, and is actually a pretty good port.
@VR32X That's where we can just keep hoping that Rare Replay eventually hits the Switch. It seems like a no-brainer for Microsoft to port it over (even just digitally) as it largely consists of titles originally released on Nintendo consoles that us Nintendo fans have nostalgia for. But it's been over five years since it released on Xbox One, so I'm not holding out too much hope.
@Edu23XWiiU Yeah, I'm sure this will be hyped up and the game won't meet fan's exceptions, but as bad as Perfect Dark Zero was I'd rather it exists than have no sequel at all. I plan to try this out as it will likely go to Game Pass, but I probably won't be spending any money on it (unless it really does turn out to be a decent game, at which point a Switch port should be a necessity).
@Razer It started as a Nintendo title, and many Switch owners also have Microsoft or Sony consoles as well. For me, the Switch is my favorite console currently, but I'll be playing this on Series X when it releases. Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark were my original favorite console shooters.
@ComposedbyNone I've been playing the game daily (for some reason) since it launched. Mainly just collecting dailies rewards and items/gifts. I'm at level 36 (nearly 37) and have been for the last year. There is some serious grind work needed to advance beyond that. I've maxed out all of my bags and carrying capacity without spending a dime in game as well have money to spare. So reaching level 40 is no easy feat. Bad call on not making it available to all or at least lowering the level to something more attainable like 20-30.
@Clammy It's hard to tell the difference on a compressed Youtube feed, but the UltraHDMI since it taps into the digital signal you can do things like disable the N64's native anti-aliasing. The picture is sharper on the UltraHDMI for sure, though N64s 240p image can look a bit muddy or blurry even with the UltraHDMI. I do think the UltraHDMI looks a bit better than the Hyperkin HDMI cable, and to Metal Jesus's claim you can always change the color saturation on your TV if needed. But I'm with him and don't know if I'd want to pay or put the work into this RGB mod with HDMI adapter for the N64. I'm really interested to see if they reverse engineer the UltraHDMI and can get another variant of it out on the market. The UltraHDMI is great, but I've had my name on a waiting list for nearly a year to be able to buy one that I would have to install. We need options, and I'm glad to hear others are interested in competing with UltraHDMI (though the Warrior 64 isn't a direct comparison).
So I was really interested in this when it was announced in September. With the announced HDMI option there was a glimmer of hope that it would at best be a clone of the UltraHDMI, but as they started releasing more info it became more clear what this was.
Basically this appears to be nothing more than an RGB mod that outputs over an HDMI adapter board. I also strongly doubt that the N64 motherboard was going to be included. It looked to be something you would have to build yourself, similar to other RGB or HDMI mods using your existing N64. The problem is that a lot of people lack the soldering ability to do this type of mod. But sending out review kits I'm sure that they salvaged a few from existing N64's, which there is nothing illegal in doing so.
I think the BIG problem with Warrior's solution is that it appears to be analog RGB signal being sent to an onboard HDMI adapter. UltraHDMI taps directly into the digital signal off of the N64 motherboard. So the signal will never be as clean and clear as UltraHDMI as this is a different solution. At best you are getting something similar to an aftermarket N64 HDMI adapter, but one that taps into the RGB signal on the N64 motherboard. All of Warriors' published pictures and Youtube videos show that it is inferior to UltraHDMI, and this is likely precisely why.
Great list but could have done without the soccer games. Still the list needs:
Cruis'n USA (World and or Exotica), also 1080 Snowboarding. Also Ken Griffey Jr had two great baseball games on the system. And NBA Hangtime got the best port on N64.
@mariomaster96 Hopefully that's coming too, but had to wait until after this was released. Still excited for this, but more so for a new mainline Mario Kart entry. Lucky (or unlucky at $200) enough to grab two of these and looking forward to some course creation with some Duplo blocks with my son.
@Blooper987 And obviously the wording in the lawsuit is that of a 10 year old, so what could go wrong? It's wrong of a parent to involve her son in a legal issue he didn't have any financial involvement in. I happen to have four Switch systems in home, and have sent in eight sets of joy-con for repair up to this point, where's my five million? I doubt anyone has had distress to warrant that much money.
When the phone app runs at even higher resolutions on a phone, and the game is designed for a touch screen interface. On Switch this is over twice as expensive and has controls that aren't very intuitive. If it ever goes on a huge sale I might pick it up.
As a port of a PC game, those familiar with it would know what they are getting into. Personally I had no idea what it was about but at the offering of like $3.25 or so I decided to give it a try. It was a fast experience taking what seemed like less than an hour to beat. Seriously the random unskippable driving sequences take up a good chunk of this time. Your car auto accelerates, you are stuck between the guardrails with no off-ramps. The only thing to do is check what's on the seat near you and wait it out. The whole time I was playing I kept thinking about games like Resident Evil 2 and Goldeneye 007 and how great it would be to replay them on the Switch.
@eltomo Yeah, not much of a spoiler if you've played through Breath of the Wild. (Spoilers if you haven't played Breath of the Wild) But it seems that by the end of the battle with Calamity Ganon that all four of your friends have died. Link could have been potentially injured and was thrown in a cryogenic chamber to sleep for 100 years. Zelda's the only one that is a little questionable. It seems she was also trapped in time as she had sealed herself and Ganon away from everything for the 100 year gap. The battle must have been pretty epic as most of Hyrule was left uninhabited and the large guardians were all but destroyed as well. Looking forward to this game, just questioning slightly if it will pack enough content to justify the $60 price tag.
I picked it up digitally for $1.50 on XBox One when it was on sale June 30th. It's a decent game but may have been too ambitious porting it to Switch. It's has the look and feel of an Uncharted game without any of the polish. It also focuses a lot more on puzzle elements instead of shooting. So again at $1.50 on Switch it's worth a look for those interested, but I can't easily recommend it for $35 or recommend anyone pick it up physically. But who knows maybe this will be that one game like Cooking Mama that gets a very limited run and becomes rare and valuable because of that.
@Kalmaro The state of the US is interesting right now. With the whole push for racial equality (that many of us thought already existed), some parts of the country are basically lawless wastelands. You have talks of defunding the police, looting, rioting, on top of peaceful protests, and not to mention being in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. So while a lot of the US is okay now, there are parts that are falling apart into lawlessness.
@Quarth I kind of wondered the same thing. I did a quick check on the site below and it appears Nintendolife currently is accessible in China. So welcome to any of our Chinese neighbors!
@Faucet Animal Crossing didn't pass because there is user created content that wouldn't pass the Chinese moderators. The Chinese government likely wouldn't want to risk any anti-government content being slipt into the game by users.
@Cosats Yeah I wondered if that was a typo on NintendoLife's or Phil's part. Other news groups don't have the typo so I'm assuming that's NintendoLife's mistake.
@Anti-Matter SPOILER - If you want to complete your insect collection you have to buy at least a turnip and time travel once. Turnips appear to be the only food that rots which when left on the ground will have ants that you can catch.
@TG16_IS_BAE It definitely pulls a lot from Diablo. My six year old son loves it, so one day I'm sure he'll love Diablo as well. But if you like either Minecraft or Diablo it's easy to get into.
@Thunderbee That would be great, and I'd grab one. But similar to the differences between the Super Nintendo Classic and the Analogue Super Nt, they are very different systems. Still a GameBoy Classic and Nintendo 64 Classic would be a day one purchase for me.
I was able to grab a black Analogue Pocket this morning, but hesitated on the dock, so I didn't get one. The price seems fair, but as a premium way of playing some old GB, GBC, and GBA games I'm looking forward to it. It's also just too bad that I had to pay now and wait 10 months (minimum) for it to ship. The extras all seemed a bit pricey and I didn't grab the Game Gear attachment as I don't have much worth playing on it. Still excited, but... now the wait begins...
It's also nice that there is nothing Nintendo Switch related on the horizon otherwise I likely couldn't have afforded this. If things keep going this way I may have to grab the Analogue Super Nt for my SNES collection.
E3 isn't perfect and is pretty costly for studios to show up at. But the thing I enjoyed was that it was one week of dedicated gaming news, not just given out slowly over the summer. As far as Nintendo goes we've had nearly no news and have zero knowledge of any first party content coming this year. Had we had E3 we'd know a lot more and have had gameplay demos with the Nintendo Treehouse. I get that COVID-19 really messed with many things this year, but it hurts developers to not have the yearly in person meetups that happen during the week of E3.
@DoktorTotenKopf I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Some publishers will test the water with any new release. It makes sense, games cost more to develop than they did in the 1980s yet we are still paying the same price of $60 per game. Publishers like 2K have been more than willing to push the price ceiling to outrageous prices just to see what they can get. $150 for a new NBA2K title? That's nothing new. The bulk of the publishers out there know that $60 is the price ceiling consumers are willing to pay on average. It's dangerous to ask more, and most publishers know that. If they want/need more than an all digital release, DLC, season pass, skins, etc is how consumers will pay more.
Personally I don't pay $60 for new sports titles as if I wait a few months they'll be $20 (and I'm not a huge sports fan). But I will buy special editions or gold editions of games and franchises I enjoy.
Realistically I don't see game prices increasing. If you think about it game prices have largely been where they are at since the 80's. NES games sold for $60. The average American consumer expects game prices to be $60. I remember as a kid going to Toys R' Us and seeing SNES games like Star Trek TNG Future's Past selling for $79.99 among others. Development costs have gone up and I think some publishers will test the water with higher prices, especially at a system launch. But the tactic that works best is to release at $60 or just release digitally and then release DLC, season passes, skins, etc, to recoup any extra costs. I don't see this generation being any different.
@doctorhino Right, as a games developer or being in marketing they likely have a great environment to work in. I'm just commenting on what figures likely look like for many working there.
@sandman89 I would speculate the average employee makes around 40-60K a year at Nintendo, but that pay can go higher for directors and seasoned employees, and starting can be lower. Seasoned developers likely make around 80-120K. Still not a bad job.
@COVIDberry Haha, it is sad that we are at this point of knowing almost nothing about Nintendo's plans for the second half of the year. We've got (possibly) New Pokemon Snap, and Pokemon DLC, and that's about it for first party. We could see the Bravely Default title, but that could easily slip to 2021 as well.
@TheFox That's what I thought as well. Though viewing the contrast of bright lines on a dark background on the 3DS's stereoscopic screen kind of breaks down and you can see remnants that only the other eye should see. So it wouldn't be as good as seeing it in the Virtual Boy. Still I'm with you and would have purchased likely as many as were released.
I remember buying one of these used from Blockbuster, in it's rental case. (Un)Surprisingly it was in great like new condition when I bought it. I picked up Wario Land, Teleroboxer, Red Alarm, Mario Tennis, Galactic Pinball, Panic Bomber, Virtual League Baseball, Mario Clash, and Golf. I remember playing but not owning Waterworld, and yes it was pretty bad. I regret selling my Virtual Boy collection but I was a kid and needed the money for the more N64 games in the late 90s. Each of the games were fun in their own right. I remember sinking a lot of time in Mario Tennis, Red Alarm, Panic Bomber, Golf, and even Virtual League Baseball.
I tried the guide and no luck. My drift on my Splatoon 2 themed Pro controller seemed to have happened suddenly after a recent update. All of the sudden my right joystick would drift severely downward. I eventually called Nintendo Support last week and they were able to setup a free (post) warranty repair. I totally didn't expect them to do anything about it, but am grateful that they are repairing it now.
@Susurrus Pro controllers get updated, and I'm assuming the NES and SNES do as well. I just haven't ever updated mine personally. I'll have to give it a try when I get home.
@RodSD64 The joy-con don't "need" to be attached but they do need to be powered on and synced to the console. There also seems to be an update for the Pro controller as well (though it could be from the last update). From my experience Pro controllers on the other hand only seem to update when connected to the dock via USB.
@Heavyarms55 Controllers need to be updated for various reasons from improvements in input latency via new protocols, as well as battery saving functions, or even to just patch security vulnerabilities. We have no idea what this update does, but I'd assume it's for security vulnerabilities.
Top Shelf: DVR? / PS4 Pro / PS4 / Famicom mini / Super Famicom Mini / SNES Mini Bottom Shelf: Switch / Wii U?/ Xbox One X / ? / PS3 / PC Engine mini / SEGA Genesis mini / Playstation Classic
Can't wait. We have a few Switch consoles at home and remote family that hops on Minecraft to play regularly. This update sounds like just what we needed.
@teamdoa As a free to play game it captures the basics of Elder Scrolls in canned missions and is fun enough at that. The big problem I have with the game is that after playing for about seven hours there is a pretty steep paywall that basically stops you from progressing without paying a large amount of money. The same exact thing was true of Asphalt 9: Legends on Switch. Again, very decent game for free to play, but you can literally not progress at all without spending a huge amount of money. I'm fine with free to play where hours in spending $10 - $20 is needed or playing repetitive missions for hours will also do the job, but these are basically needing $100+ to get anywhere. For me it's a tough sell when you can get the full (actually great) Skyrim game on Switch digitally for $30 (at the time of this writing).
I think I remember him from one Nindie video in person and one as a disembodied voice with Katie Casper. Wasn't around long enough to make a big impression with the community in general, but he'll be missed and best of luck to him in the future.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Average Age And Salary Of Its Employees (As Of March 2020)
@doctorhino Right, as a games developer or being in marketing they likely have a great environment to work in. I'm just commenting on what figures likely look like for many working there.
Re: Nintendo Reveals Average Age And Salary Of Its Employees (As Of March 2020)
@sandman89 I would speculate the average employee makes around 40-60K a year at Nintendo, but that pay can go higher for directors and seasoned employees, and starting can be lower. Seasoned developers likely make around 80-120K. Still not a bad job.
Re: Feature: Every Virtual Boy Game Ranked
@COVIDberry Haha, it is sad that we are at this point of knowing almost nothing about Nintendo's plans for the second half of the year. We've got (possibly) New Pokemon Snap, and Pokemon DLC, and that's about it for first party. We could see the Bravely Default title, but that could easily slip to 2021 as well.
Re: Feature: Every Virtual Boy Game Ranked
@TheFox That's what I thought as well. Though viewing the contrast of bright lines on a dark background on the 3DS's stereoscopic screen kind of breaks down and you can see remnants that only the other eye should see. So it wouldn't be as good as seeing it in the Virtual Boy. Still I'm with you and would have purchased likely as many as were released.
Re: Feature: Every Virtual Boy Game Ranked
Re: Guide: How To Fix A Drifting Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
I tried the guide and no luck. My drift on my Splatoon 2 themed Pro controller seemed to have happened suddenly after a recent update. All of the sudden my right joystick would drift severely downward. I eventually called Nintendo Support last week and they were able to setup a free (post) warranty repair. I totally didn't expect them to do anything about it, but am grateful that they are repairing it now.
Re: PSA: Remember To Update Your Joy-Con, As Well As Your Nintendo Switch
@Susurrus Pro controllers get updated, and I'm assuming the NES and SNES do as well. I just haven't ever updated mine personally. I'll have to give it a try when I get home.
Re: PSA: Remember To Update Your Joy-Con, As Well As Your Nintendo Switch
@RodSD64 The joy-con don't "need" to be attached but they do need to be powered on and synced to the console. There also seems to be an update for the Pro controller as well (though it could be from the last update). From my experience Pro controllers on the other hand only seem to update when connected to the dock via USB.
Re: PSA: Remember To Update Your Joy-Con, As Well As Your Nintendo Switch
@Heavyarms55 Controllers need to be updated for various reasons from improvements in input latency via new protocols, as well as battery saving functions, or even to just patch security vulnerabilities. We have no idea what this update does, but I'd assume it's for security vulnerabilities.
Re: Random: The Smash Bros. ARMS Presentation Gave Us A Better Look At Sakurai's Insane Gaming Setup
As far as I can tell his setup is as follows:
Top Shelf: DVR? / PS4 Pro / PS4 / Famicom mini / Super Famicom Mini / SNES Mini
Bottom Shelf: Switch / Wii U?/ Xbox One X / ? / PS3 / PC Engine mini / SEGA Genesis mini / Playstation Classic
Re: Minecraft's Nether Update Comes To Switch Next Week
Can't wait. We have a few Switch consoles at home and remote family that hops on Minecraft to play regularly. This update sounds like just what we needed.
Re: The Elder Scrolls: Blades Adds Motion Controls On Switch, Version 1.7.1 Patch Notes
Re: The Elder Scrolls: Blades Adds Motion Controls On Switch, Version 1.7.1 Patch Notes
Hopefully patch 1.8 removes the six or seven hour paywall
Re: Kirk Scott Leaves Nintendo Of America After Five Years
I think I remember him from one Nindie video in person and one as a disembodied voice with Katie Casper. Wasn't around long enough to make a big impression with the community in general, but he'll be missed and best of luck to him in the future.
Re: Can You Name These Third-Party Nintendo Games From Just Their Box Art?
10 out of 15. Considering I guessed on nearly half of them not bad. Base Wars, Vertical Force, and Tank!Tank!Tank! were easy as I own them.
