Re: Best First-Party NES Games

Naktarra

I will say that NSO has really brought these games to a new generation. I have an NES mug I use while teaching. I am proud to say a grade three student came up to me to tell me how much he enjoys Mario 3.

I have also been pleasantly surprised by a lot of these games I otherwise would not have tried. I have the original hardware, but the cost for cartridges has sky rocketed and I already have all the games that I'm really interested in. Great solution to share legacy content, as much as it is criticized.

Re: Pokémon Presents Announced For 27th February 2024

Naktarra

I'm so excited - I am really hoping for a remaster announcement. Biggest regret is not buying the original Gold and Silver on the eShop before it closed. I would take Black and White as well - I think it would do well on the Switch. My only hope is it would not get the graphical butchering that Diamond and Pearl got.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch DLC & Expansions

Naktarra

There's a lot of great DLC for switch and I love that most of the heavy hitters are included in the online. I love Happy Home Designer, the new MK8 tracks and the little bonuses you get for some games. I want to try the Pokemon Violet DLC, but I'm waiting for a sale. I also chose to pick up the Skyrim Anniversary DLC on Switch instead of PC because of all the chaos it's causes with SKSE - best enjoyed vanilla anyways.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked

Naktarra

So many of these games are absolutely phenomenal. The N64 truly had a quality lineup that instill find myself going back to. Christmas tradition is getting to Freeze Eezy Peak in Banjo Kazooie! I was surprised to see Yoshi Story so far down the list, but I can understand why that one isn't a fan favourite with how many good platformers the N64 had.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Shares Another Update About Version 1.6

Naktarra

I never realised how endless the content is in this game until I saw one of my friends farms. I never looked up walkthroughs or anything...colour me surprised when I discovered sprinklers 20 hours in. I'm so used to the old Harvest Moons with no assists that I hadn't even considered the modern quality of life upgrades to these sims!

Re: Nintendo Shares Colourful Graphic Featuring The Games From September's Direct

Naktarra

Looking forward to F-zero 99 & Paper Mario, although I'm holding off from any major game purchases right now. I can not believe how quickly Mario Wonder is coming!

I still have some dream games for the N64 online (Banjo Tooie when?!), although Pokemon Stadium 2 will keep me busy!

I'm keeping an eye on Sonic Superstars, as it's giving me really good Sonic Generations vibes in the level of care it appears to be receiving. Hoping this new Sega era is promising.

Pipe dream switch releases still include Wind Waker & Twilight Princess, but I feel those will come eventually. Now the real pipe dream is if that rumoured Oblivion remaster makes it to switch. Sir Patrick Stewart on the go? Yes please!

Re: Nintendo Direct Showcase Confirmed For Tomorrow, 21st June

Naktarra

I have very good feelings for this one - I think there has been a lull in upcoming milestone games towards the release of TOTK. I wonder if we will see any Wii U ports in the Zelda realm now that we have the big release off of our plates. It would also be a wonderful time to see the arrival of a few more N64 Online games. I am really holding out for Chameleon Twist, Mischief Makers and the likes...but we are frankly already so spoiled!

Re: Poll: What's The Best Piece Of Music In A Nintendo Game?

Naktarra

There's so many but I feel like Nintendo really nails the underwater themes. DK Country is a great example and Mario 64 also killed it. I'm also a believer that the Twilight princess soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece. Midna's Theme is so simple but such a fantastic work. (I'm actually really hoping that Nintendo does release a 35th anniversary symphonic album as they've done in previous anniversaries but I'm not going to hold my breath.)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 24th)

Naktarra

Hopefully a little bit of Stardew and Animal Crossing to wind down after a crazy week.

I'm in the fourth week of the final year of my degree and about to go on practicum. Trying to actively take more time for my hobbies to balance out some of the pressure put on by my department. I recently got a few new games to try on Switch, but I think I'm going to stick with what's familiar and easy for now.

Re: Story Of Seasons: A Wonderful Life Remakes A Farming Classic

Naktarra

So excited to see this. I wasn't expected GBA remake either. Switch is now home to all of the best farming sims. It's also great to see RF3 getting some love. Personally, the RF I played the most was RF2, but I think that one hasn't aged nearly as well as RF3-4. Definitely going to preorder when it becomes available!

Re: Poll: What Switch Online N64 Game Are You Most Excited About?

Naktarra

I can't wait to have the Mario Party games to play with friends. Makes me feel like I need to get more controllers for multiplayer! It's also really pushing me to get the NSO N64 controller, but it's still so expensive.

Also stoked for Pokemon Stadium 2. I still have all these games on the original cartridge, but having it on Switch makes it so much more convenient and portable. The news about Harvest Moon is a bummer. That was one I was really looking forward to seeing eventually. Oh well - the GC remake is more than enough too

Re: Switch Online's N64 Library In Japan Is Getting One Extra Game

Naktarra

Seems to be the direct of farming sims! I love Rune Factory 3 and the Harvest Moon GC remake. I feel like between Stardew and RF4, however, I have a lifetime supply of farming on the switch. Seems like items I would definitely pick up in a sale. I'm glad to see the GC remaster - I heard the GBA remaster was to mixed reception.
