Nintendo has shared a list of the top 15 most-downloaded Switch eShop games of March 2020 in Europe, and you can probably guess which game has taken top spot.
Yes, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the most-downloaded game of the month, with Nintendo's other big release Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX coming in third. Pikuniku managed to split the two with a second-place finish, and - as you'd expect - there are a couple of Mario titles in there for good measure.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Pikuniku
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX
- Rocket League
- Minecraft
- Thief Simulator
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Old Man's Journey
- Cities: Skylines
- DOOM 64
- Overcooked 2
- Stardew Valley
- Blazing Beaks
- Super Mario Party
- Final Fantasy VII
Did you download any of these titles on Switch last month? Any surprises in the top 15? Tell us below.

I did. Cities Skylines. It's nice at the beginning but I got a little bored pretty soon. I also bought lots of heavily discounted games. Even in quarantine i don't have time to play them all...
Pikuniku was on special offer for really cheap. Makes sense why it reached the top.
Glad Pikuniku gets the attention it deserves. Great game with engaging story and music. Too bad the single player story can't be played in coop and only some extra levels.
Yup! I picked up Pikuniku because of the sale price, myself. It's a weird one! I think I like it, but I got completely stuck, and then ended up moving over to playing Hyper Light Drifter (which was ALSO on sale) and haven't gone back to it yet
I bought Pikuniku for my son, then my nephew... and then after a week of watching them play I bought it for myself too 😊 such a fun, weird, bright little game, just have to get the co-op trophies now.
I got Pikuniku since it was only 0,99€, but I honestly found it pretty meh.
The story and premise sounded promising at first, but you already know exactly where they're going since pretty much the beginning, and it doesn't expand from there.
The gameplay is a bit of a mixed bag as there isn't really much to do, and a most of the unlockable hats, items and "side quests" are useless and ultimately filler.
It is really really charming though. That's its redeeming quality, and boy does it deliver on that one front.
So yeah, it's probably not for everyone, but if you know what you're getting it's not a bad purchase for that price.
I got Pikuniku for me and cities skylines for my nephew because both were on sale.
Loved Pikuniku. For 4Zl (around €1) it was a blast!
I dipped into Cities Skylines. Good memories of playing Sim City 2000 but the game got bogged down by garbage collection problems and getting dead bodies to the cemetery. Weird.
Yay Pokémon and Animal Crossing!
Thied Simulator ?
What's that all about.
Great to see Doom 64 up there doing well, such a wonderful game and my personal favourite on the list with Animal Crossing a close second
Stardew Valley and Pikuniku are the two games I've been playing the most lately. Stardew Valley seems to be perpetually on the top selling lists!
Doom64! A quality title, I'm having a lot of fun.
I checked out the demo of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon last month. I've never played a Pokemon game before.
This one plays like a GBA game.
Pikuniku was a fun game. I only wish the story was longer. It has really enjoyable mechanics and a fun world to explore, but it ends too soon
I already had half of this list lol. But the overwhelming majority of my game time since it released, has been Animal Crossing.
Although I did spend an evening raiding in Pokemon SWSH, got a shiny Hydreigon and Octerily!
This March, PIKUNIKU is the only game I've been assisting in its rise to chart stardom.
Only played the first few hours so far, but I'm loving the bizarre humor and music. The controls and exploration, coupled with the puzzle-platforming meets Physics Lite (tm) works well with the simple graphics and the eerie story.
Recommended!
love pikuniku, a bit like snipperclips and freakyforms
