Re: Select EU Retailers Are Abandoning Nintendo's Suggested Retail Price For Switch 2 Games

MrMichaelJames

I have flat out told the kids they aren’t getting a switch 2. It’s too expensive. Initially I told them that it was possible but that was before the prices were announced. Now it is completely off the table. The console price to me isn’t a big deal but the game prices are flat out stupid. Especially since Nintendo eshop in the US rarely has sales on first party titles.

Re: Video: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom And Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Side-By-Side Comparison

MrMichaelJames

@Cia 60 is quite visible and feels much better than 30 and 120 feels better than 60. It is very noticeable and consoles and games should be striving for at least 60 these days. Speaking of the video, the amount of jaggies is quite horrible. Can't wait to see videos of people playing this in emulators at 4k with legit anti-aliasing to see what it could really be like if Nintendo have good hardware.

Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?

MrMichaelJames

Shouldn't her beef be with the union that negotiated the rates that she belongs to? For 16 hours of work you make $4k. That is 2 8 hour days. Now line up multiple gigs and you could be pulling in over $10k a month for working 4 days or so?. Seems like a good payday to me. Can't get multiple roles then you need a better agent if you are really as good as you say you are. Who else makes $250 an hour?

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

MrMichaelJames

We all know they will screw it up. Nintendo is never pushing the envelope of technological upgrades in its hardware revisions. Name has a lot to do with it but go simple in design. Larger screen (maybe mini-led instead of oled), longer battery life, much more powerful GPU, and 4k output 1080p internal screen. Games on 1080p play at full 60fps as a requirement and 4k output at 60fps. Same form factor, new colors for the kiddos. This in itself will make it sell like hotcakes and people will upgrade their switches.

Re: Random: Players Are Already Scarily Good At Controlling Samus In Metroid Dread

MrMichaelJames

@Bret The $70 PS5 and XB prices are robbery, flat out robbery so I'm against those as well and refuse to participate. And yes, the prices are what they are because the market dictates it. If people weren't willing to pay that much the prices wouldn't be that high. Thats fine prices can be whatever the market dictates but I won't play "that" game. I stopped buying games on release day, stopped paying full price awhile ago. There is no point. I started looking at what I was buying, how much I get out of it and I figured out I would spend $60 of so, get a new release, play the hell out of it over the first week, finish it. And then what? Nothing, don't go back to it and move on to something else. Seems a huge waste of money to me so I stopped paying full price. I also refuse to buy physical. They do nothing but take up space, again a waste of money. It also is criminal that digital copies cost as much as physical copies.

Re: Random: Players Are Already Scarily Good At Controlling Samus In Metroid Dread

MrMichaelJames

@Bret I too think Dread is overpriced, but then again I think ALL Nintendo 1st party switch games are overpriced. The game prices for the switch should start at $49 for 1st party titles. Only reason they cost as much as they do is because people continue to shell out because its Nintendo. Unfortunately that means I'll probably never play Dread since there are rarely sales on these things.

Re: Poll: What's A Fair Price For The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack?

MrMichaelJames

Should be included already but I would pay no more than $1 more a year for it. But this is Nintendo, they are going to charge $14.99 more a year and advertise it as "For less than 15 bucks more a year you can...."

Then they will list out all the games and pull some cost of each game individually from somewhere and try and justify the cost. I'm just about done with consoles and their prices these days. I'd rather just stick to PC games and get things on sale and skip specific games all together.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

MrMichaelJames

@AgentGuapo
So curious, out of the 233 comments before your reply you choose my comment about not being worth the price to designate as trolling. To me that shows either you don't really understand what that means or you yourself are looking to rile people up which is the definition of a troll yourself. Interesting...

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

MrMichaelJames

Nope won't pay $60 for it I would pay a max of $40 for it. Nintendo rarely has sales on its titles so unless it drops in price I won't be getting it. Not when I can pick up AAA titles on a PC for fractions of their cost. I gave up paying full price for games (console and PC) years ago. No reason to preorder games, no reason to pay full price.

Re: CNN Covers The Super Nintendo World Opening

MrMichaelJames

@iMarkU I've been to Pandora. The rides there are 100x better than this Nintendo selection of rides that is why its so busy. Its not busy because of the theme. Yes it makes for great pictures but now that I've done it the only reason I would go back to that section is to do the rides. There is a reason you can do the entire Animal Kingdom in half a day and that it is the weakest of the 4. There isn't much there. Most of the time you are simply walking from one end of the park to the other.

Re: CNN Covers The Super Nintendo World Opening

MrMichaelJames

This is the newness factor. It'll wear off quickly since there are only 2 rides. One of them is simply a train with yoshi cars and nothing more, and the other one is a slow dark ride with AR gimmick. Theme in an area is definitely cool, but after you walk through it once it looses its newness if there aren't rides that are exciting to keep you in it.

Re: Japan's Super Nintendo World Has A Mysterious, Locked Donkey Kong Door

MrMichaelJames

Theming will only get them so far. The Mario Kart ride looks boring and there isn't enough to do in the park. I don't see this moving beyond Japan. I know there are plans for a US release but I bet it'll be quite a bit different. Compared to Harry Potter section this is tame. Yes attendance will be off the hook, then people will realize its boring.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo To Reveal New Switch Model With Samsung OLED Display And 4K Support

MrMichaelJames

OLED screens consume less power, so I would place bets that an OLED screen at 1080p vs an LCD screen at 720p probably consume close to same amount of power. I'm also placing bets that the reason the rumor doesn't say 1080p screen is because Nintendo seems to be notorious with their upgrades being lack luster. Personally I only use the switch as a portable device so 4k doesn't matter to me, but a larger higher res screen does.

Re: Review: XCOM 2 Collection - Firaxis' Stone-Cold Classic Makes The Leap To Switch Intact

MrMichaelJames

@StevenG I do understand that I just don't care about it. If I want to play old mario I'll do so on my switch or my snes classic. You could say the game doesn't take resources to play, you need to keep around an old TV and have working old hardware around. That stuff is a lot larger than newer hardware that can store the game in a file only format instead of carts. I feel the sooner game companies switch to all digital only the better off we will be, but there is still quite a bit standing in the way of that for some people.

@GameOtaku I understand your point, but one bad house fire or house flood and all that physical property is gone forever. By the time the servers shutdown I won't care about replaying the game anyways, I'm 45 right now I just don't care about games I played in my 20s or when I was 10. I think online only is going to happen eventually, its inevitable.
