Would be awesome if I could actually play it.. Now 4:30pm and the eshop still hasn't updated!? 😐
@Mr-Fuggles777 Then go play on PC if you care so much like I am
For some people Switch is all they have and it's serviceable in that regard
@TheFrenchiestFry I'm waiting on the 120fps update on Xbox and then I will come back and play apex after burning out after season 5.
Its just shocking people are happy with sub HD visual and such a low framerate for a fast paced shooter.
Although if they only own a switch they probably won't know any better and will undoubtedly rave that it's the best running game ever.
I've played this heavily on ps4 since last mce it's release and trying on switch today it was ok just whatever you do don't play in handheld lol
@Mr-Fuggles777 What’s even more shocking is that people will pay full retail price for other games that are downgraded to work on the switch. Apex is free, but still, you’re right. Some games just work better on other hardware.
I have a Xbox Series X and will definitely play Apex on my Switch! I really like the idea to take a competitive game like Apex and play it casually on the Switch, everywhere I want. I get that people say the fps and textures suck, but for some people, myself included, the comfort of being able to play this on the go is worth the downgrade in graphics!
@TheLightSpirit not worth the response. People with that attitude should just not even respond. Next time just ignore it’s a lot easier.
@Marpolaan how can you play this on the go, its online only and I wouldn't think a mobile hotspot would be strong enough to support it
@Mr-Fuggles777 I use my mobile hotspot whenever my home wifi goes out to play games online on my Switch. I've never had a problem playing Fortnite or Elemental Knights or Paladins or anything else over hotspot. It runs fine.
@Mr-Fuggles777
Dude im just happy that i own switch and have time to play
No need more ...
Me and my friends play on ps4/ps5 mostly but excited to welcome Switch players. I have a discord if anyone is interested
When the heck is the eShop supposed to update on the east coast US? I can never seem to figure out exactly when it does, and I've had a Switch since a month after launch! lol
@Mr-Fuggles777 hotspot works fine on every online game (overwatch player here) this will work out great.
60 fps HD is nice, but honestly I grew up through 5 generations of game consoles and 30fps SD is fine.
Its more difficult (because lets be fair this is a shooter) and I wouldnt want to try competitive using the switch, but for just playing and enjoying apex its more than enough.
Heck, look at the install base for Fortnite, the graphics and draw distance are a huge disadvantage, but portable is king
@Mr-Fuggles777 Turn off cross-play on Switch. Problem Solved!
But really, it never was a problem in the first place. The game is fun!
I like how promotional material always makes the Switch look smaller than it actually is. lol
@pixelpatch a 2 year old game can't even run at 720p on Switch and you are defending it as a good thing? I also grew up with Low Definition graphics, doesn't mean to say I want to see them in a current big release.
What's the point in everyone freaking out over a new Oled screen when new releases can't even hit the top specs of the existing model.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Shrug, you do you man. If you dont enjoy the graphics that sucks.
@pixelpatch we haven't seen any gameplay videos yet, it will be interesting to see what DF makes of it.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Dude, where have you been the last 4 years? The Switch is almost half as powerful as the original Xbox One. What do you expect? This is a large map, battle royale game with 60 players. And it runs 720p docked, but runs just under at 576p on a 6.2 inch(or smaller on lite) screen. The less graphically intensive Fortnite runs 30fps at as low as 432p. Obviously, the game will run better on a beefy console vs a handheld device lol! If you turn off cross-play, this could still be an enjoyable game for people at 30fps. I don't think people are planning to play the Switch version with a very serious emphasis on competition.
I’m sure anyone that’s gonna play speed on switch are not gonna be taking the game too seriously. People in here complaining about frames and graphics like of course my PORTABLE switch will not compare to you 6k pc setup lol just let people enjoy the game, damn
Gonna play apex*
The e-shop now says "Planed release date: 10/03/2021" what the f...
What's going on? I just went to check if it's already available, but they changed the thumbnail and now it's coming not March 9 but March 10.
@monterxz the same happened to me
@Mr-Fuggles777 what are you having a meltdown for, you're playing it somewhere else, remember?
The Switch can't compare power wise with current consoles? Seriously? No way!
not today. it will go out tomorrow now. it's updated 10 minutes ago
Is it weird that I'm glad to see someone wearing a glove while touching the screen? I know it's a touch screen but...
...fingerprints... shudder
People actually play it?
@Mr-Fuggles777 good look playing in handheld mode on your Xbox!
Do you realise how tedious it is going on about frames per second? I’d wager that you can’t even tell the difference
@Mr-Fuggles777
You're also forgetting about the part where the Switch is versatile at home. There are times when you would rather play while laying in bed, or if you have people in your house, you don't have to fight over the TV. The sacrifice in quality is still worth it if you can play it almost anywhere in your house.
I have to agree that SD resolution and 30fps is not necessarily up to par with today's standards, but I see no real issue if that 30fps is very stable. This ain't Fortnite, where higher frame rate gave higher rate of fire.
@Mr-Fuggles777 yeah but not everyone has a PC, xbox, or PS
@ModdedInkling @HamatoYoshi I play my xbox handheld all the time using either Xcloud or Remote Play (depending if I'm in the house or not) and my Razor Kishi controller.
I was playing Gears 5 last Night in bed and it looked gorgeous and ran buttery smooth so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have issues playing Apex that way.
I understand not everyone can be satisfied. However, its unfortunate we all can't just rejoice in the fact that this game is on the Switch and playable to begin with. They actually put real love and care (they hired the best Panic Button not some random hack for cheap) to get this for Switch players. Any well deserving love for the Switch is always something to be celebrated.
I also don't understand how games like this and most recently Doom Eternal ports create rebellious attitudes and cause panties to bunch up. The beauty of choice and convenience is you have multiple options to play whatever game where and as you want. Some act like they're rebelling against the new ported platform as if they're being forced to now abandon their platform of choice and play the new port location. I don't get how it creates such attitudes.
@Ganner it annoys me to see people going on like these ports are the best thing since sliced bread when they way under perfrom in pretty much every way when compared to what's already available.
Its like having a 5 guys burger with all the toppings (and extra peanut butter) to eat in or a sad mcdonald's cheeseburger that you can take away, and people freaking out because you can eat one out of the wrapper.
Not the best analogy as I've eaten 5 guys on the go but you get my drift.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I believe what @HamatoYoshi is also getting at is the Switch can play in multiple modes right out of the box as is. Not everyone has the capabilities of Xcloud or Remote Play. There's definitely more involved to enable those options of play like compatible phone, subscriptions, any other needed tech. Not everyone has the best setup(s) of whatever needed in their households. Also, doesn't Remote Play not currently work with backward capability? At minimum the Switch is capable of so much right from the box. Different strokes for different folks they say.
I think its awesome you're all setup with everything you need/want to play your games you feel is the best way. However, what you have and need doesn't mean everyone else has that available to them. I don't mean to lecture just pointing out a few details.
lol, did EA really just pushed the release 'til tomorrow? Damnit, I was looking forward testing it out tonight, now I wont have time for 2 more days :/
@Mr-Fuggles777
it annoys me to see people going on like these ports are the best thing since sliced bread when they way under perfrom in pretty much every way when compared to what's already available.
I see what you're saying there. However I don't recall anyone (including Respawn & Panic Button) saying this port is the best and definitive way to play the game. It's just another viable option. Anyone with half a brain would know that when it comes to multi-platform games there will be platforms that are better than others. If anything all this press about the game is a celebration of a job well done to get it on Switch. Like what Doom Eternal was. It was in no way built for the Switch by a long shot but the release for it was a celebration in general.
Honestly I can understand your passion so I have nothing against you on the matter. I can be the same sometimes. I'm VERY passionate about rock & roll and metal music. I get all worked up when I hear people talking about today's forgettable electronic based trash music as its the greatest ever. I get it, dude.
@Mr-Fuggles777
Of course, streaming isn't a problem. However, I consider it to be a very fragile thing, especially when it comes to input lag. If your internet connection is great, streaming definitely reigns superior. If your internet connection is moderate to bad, the Switch excels.
Tip - turn cross play off.
@Ganner I get hyper focused on things I really don't need to - joys of living with Autism I suppose.
Now onto the rock debate, my sister (who is 18 years younger than me) turned around and said she quite likes these "old classics" when Heart Shaped Box was playing in the car.
F****** old Classics!!!! I'm my head Grunge is still very much alive and current.
@Mr-Fuggles777 LOL I know what you mean. It's all good
@Mr-Fuggles777
First time folk can play these sort of games portable for real, it's quite exciting. I was also excited when I could play 3D GTA portable on PSP, even if it was somewhat inferior to the console GTA-games.
You all act like that it is normal for the average person to have all the consoles and a PC.
You forget that most casual people don't have - and more importantly: don't care about the other options.
Me being one of them. I don't even have a TV and I don't want one.
you need nintendo online to play apex nintendo just want money
Is this actually coming out today? It is still not in the eShop...
Freaking drop already! How are you gonna tell people on the eshop that it’s coming out on the 9th and don’t release it until it’s nearly the 10th. Frustrating and stupid.
It’s gonna take forever to download so I keep checking. I started getting annoyed after the 15th time.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Look man if you're always going to complain about graphics and fps on a Nintendo handheld console,then I don't think this website is for you.
Yes, of course it doesn't run at 60fps 4k but guess what? The people who were waiting for this to drop most likely already knew that and probably don't even care.
Save your breath and the braincells of everyone that has to read through your rants all the time.
Do not take this in a bad way, I'm trying to be as honest as possible.
@Arkay this got my back up after the interview yesterday with Panic Button, saying they were able to port the game across with no compromises or sacrifices for it to drop at sub HD textures.
I'm not expecting 4k 120FPS but these resolutions are a joke, I'm more shocked that people are happy about it.
I hope they have cross save in the next three to four seasons it would be great, but for now I will play with two accounts Not much to hate there but still, i'm so glade others can now play this good battle royal. Trust me you will love the characters each one is so lovable, they all say and do different things is truly a great
time,
and this game is easy to get into, I got into it last month and I'm already level 70, its a amazing game with love in it please give it a try
@Mr-Fuggles777 I think this game looks great for a port, I didn't think it would but when panic button started doing it I was game, and man oh man did they deliver, Its okay if you don't like how it looks on switch but I don't really know what you were expecting its a switch.
Eshop STILL says it drops today! The heck is going on??😕
@Ganner I really didn't think whoever ported it could make it look got, but when I heard panic button I put all my faith into this port being great I mean I played rocket L on this thing And it look great, almost like fighterz I know this is a little off topic but, I didn't think it would look good on the switch but Its really hard to notice when watching gameplay its really amazing how some of these guys (And gals) can port such great looking games over to the switch, its really hard to be mad at something like that. (I would think)
@Exivilon They said it coming out this evening for me thats About 5 Pm.
This is something I was hyped for and if it came out earlier I would have downloaded. But I now have Progear and Crimson Clover taken over my time.
@Mr-Fuggles777
dude most people are okay that something is 30 frames per second. the only time i can even tell the difference is when a 60 and 30 fps are side by side
@Mr-Fuggles777
does 30 fps hinder your ability to play botw. if a game is good then the fps should not matter as long as it is playable
@Mr-Fuggles777
than play it that way no one cares if you play on xbox or switch
@Snatcher Really? Where did you hear that?
@Exivilon they said it in there twitter post, I think one of them also said you don't need switch online but I could be wrong.
@Snatcher Oh wow, ok. Got it. Thanks!👍
Can't wait This game is awesome
5 more minutes in EU. (Minus the UK)
Edit: it's live now
It's live on my side of things(US), 5pm CST. Downloading on my red box Switch and Switch Lite now. Two 25 gb downloads, so gonna take awhile.😄
@superderper
The same argument again that mouse beats controller but forgetting about gyro aiming.
@Exivilon
Thanks, I've already gave up and almost went to sleep (EU) thinking I'll have to wait till tomorrow
It’s out now but it’s just sitting on my home menu...not downloading for some reason.
Now it’s downloading. Finally!
@monterxz No prob!
@Mr-Fuggles777 I agree that it does look very blurry, but I figure that it's a fast paced game where you'll always be moving and during those movements everything blends in together anyways.
played 2 rounds on the switch and deleted it. i thought i would play this when i am not at my ps5 but i think its too bad. blurry, slow (fps wise), just not good enough... too bad.
@nitroturbo21 That's not true! Just like Fortnite, online will be free without NSO required!
I just downloaded it, I played a little bit of it. and It is pretty good for the most part
@BaronMunchausen try putting your switch in sleep mode
Apex is 19 GB on switch. Not too bad
Hello, is there gonna be a review of Apex on switch
I am just saying, it runs pretty good and the graphics look like on par with DOOM Eternal on switch
@Mr-Fuggles777
I don't know how to explain it, but I'd rather play a game on switch with options for handheld or standard console over playing it anywhere else (except vr, I love vr). Logically, what you say is true, but somehow pc and other consoles are just not the same for me.
@CodyMKW its both
@nintendolife is there gonna be a review for Apex eventually?
@Mr-Fuggles777 not everyone cares about 4k 60fps alright.
A lot of people are ok with this port. It looks and runs good
