This game was one of my favorites as a kid. I still enjoy this soundtrack to this day. I wish I had the CD release, but this will be great. Interesting to see the changed titles on some of the tracks.
Honestly I'd rather just call someone or use discord rather than use integrated chat stuff. It sounds like it's going to have a performance drain anyway. That said I am excited to see what kind of dumb memes emerge from people on gamechat.
The best part of this trailer was that at first you think it's a new 3D Mario and then that wall starts breaking down. Also the fact that you can dig/break/grab most of the terrain is insane! This could be really innovative for the genre.
I overall was really surprised by the quality of these releases. Mario Kart World looks amazing! Knowing so many switch games are getting special updates for switch 2 is really exciting. We saw Deltarune, Silksong, and more. The New DK Game blew me away. That looks amazing. Mouse mode is going to be really great for some games.
I hope all games can at least get a basic performance boost on switch 2. But I'd love to see some of the systems prettier titles (Mario Wonder, TOTK, Pikmin 4) get some extra love. They already look great some better lighting would prefect it.
@iNintendo Very true. Their games were creative and not full of microtransactions. I loved the Bookworm Adventures games they made. It's shame they are impossible to buy now.
This is very exciting! Plants vs Zombies is one of the top games I've ever played. Here's hoping this new release rebalances the versus mode so that way it's actually fun. The concept is great ,but the execution was pretty poor.
A switch port could also bring back some of the DS excuslive mini games which would be excited. One release of Plants vs Zombies with all the content!
I am fully ready to rebuy this game yet again!
The Nintendo Switch was the only system I got on launch day, and with my personal time and money budgets, there may never be another console that warrants such a rush. I lost my mind seeing the announcement for it on the Wii U eshop, so I was excited to be in that (admittedly short) line outside my local to Target to pick up the Nintendo Switch. Of course, I had to wait until after school to play it , but it was still worth it. 2017 was my favorite Switch year by far, with Sonic Mania's eshop release starting my obsession with the blue blur. All that to say, happy birthday, Nintendo Switch!
I hope that they continue to develop quality smaller titles to release. I think the game's industry has become a little too obsessed with making massive titles. Honestly I get overwhelmed by the size of some of them. I think they could hit the once a month release ,but it would be tricker. Prehaps one thing that could help would be having Gamecube or DS NSO to supplement regular switch 2 releases.
As cool as it would be to have a lot of 3DS games on Switch 2 I don't see it happening. We haven't even gotten DS games yet and Nintendo seems to want to space out releases. I also think a lot of 3DS games could benefit from updated graphics and controls. Super Mario 3D Land could get multiplayer, Samus Returns could get dread-style controls, and we all know Uprising needs new controls.
If Nintendo wants to keep Switch 1 sales up they are going to need to keep putting good games on the system. I'm surprised to see them winding down as much as they are. The 3DS seemed to have a longer afterlife.
Don't both Switch 2 joy cons have an IR camera instead of just the right one this time around? I feel like that might signal something about the system, but I have no idea what.
It seems an idea at Nintendo is never truly dead, just a little early. The 3DS was years in the making with Nintendo's last attempt at glasses-free 3D having been a Gamecube addon.
While I understand the argument many of you are making that Mario is too strong to be rivaled by Banjo I think it's also fair to point out that no one can be king of the hill forever. Back in the day it may have seemed impossible for Atari or Sega to fall and yet they did. It would take a lot of work and luck for anything to truly rival 3D Mario, but I say it's a worth a shot. If nothing else it might force Nintendo to up their game.
Honestly, I had a lot of fun following the leak cycle. If this trailer had come out in isolation it might have been more of a letdown for me personally tbh. Instead of just being a reveal of mostly iterative console it became the climax of this crazy leak journey.
@rjejr I agree. Prices these days are out of control so any option Nintendo can give fans to save money would help a lot. A lot of players would probably buy handheld only. I also agree with having other ways to dock the system. A wireless docking option would be nice as well. Especially if it paves the way for the return of dual-screen games from the 3DS.
@Turrican The NX days were wild. But I still have fun with leaks. My trick is just to treat them as a tool for speculation rather than as possible truth.
I really can't believe how long it has been. The Switch is the only console I've ever gotten on day one and with prices these days seems like it may be the only one I ever get on day one. I bet even with switch 2 we'll see the switch still get support for 2 more years (albeit not as much as we're seeing now).
@rjejr I actually did mean switch 2 home being more powerful than base switch 2. But you are right that it might be better not to focus on that and instead focus on saving on cost to expand the market.
@judaspete I was going to suggest the same thing, especially for gamers who want to play at the highest graphics levels. Would be fun if you could stream from a home console to either a switch 1 or switch 2. I think this is the generation to get both a PRO (dedicated home console) and LITE (dedicated handheld smaller size).
I feel like it would be easy to just find another way to design unique boxers to sidestep the issue. Like have them all be themed based on stuff like animals, food, elements, etc. I think as long as the gameplay is good and the new characters are fun most people won't care. Silly thought: have them be based on Nintendo hardware. The first boss is Mr. U or The incredible virtual boy.
I hope the magnetic rails mean we can flip the console vertically to play DS games, as some rumors have suggested. I think that would be a nice extra feature to have besides just stronger specs.
I’d love with the switch 2 had a UI more like the 3DS/Wii with music and themes. I’d also love for an wii style pointer to make a return. For the games that use pointer controls it makes a big difference and it’s also good for shooters too.
@SpeedRunRocks You know I'm not sure it will lose it's impact. At first I figured it would since you know it's taking forever. Mind you I played Chapter 1 when it was first released. It really seemed like people had moved on. But then chapter 2 came out after 2 years and carried even more hype than chapter 1. Toby Fox is really good at what he does. People are still creating new theories about the game to this day because it's that detail-packed. Of course, the future isn't guaranteed to resemble the past and time can take a toll on even the best. Still I have a sneaking sensation chapters 3&4 are going to take the internet by storm yet again.
@Lizuka I get that, but personally, I'm glad they aren't coming. I think it would be better to save it for the new system so that those two games can look better than they did on Wii U.
A quality and performance toggle would've been good for Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door. I think a lot of players would've been okay disabling some of the higher visuals to get to 60 fps. This could really benefit people who played the original on Gamecube and don't want to lose muscle memory due to the frame rate change. Whereas more new players and those who love the high visual style of Orgami King (like me) can keep that and play at 30.
@larryisaman You're right and I'm kinda surprised they haven't done this yet. I miss the Nintendo Selects Line-up it was a nice way to get more memorable games for an unforgettable price. Maybe we'll still see it.
@Savage_Joe Yeah the moment I heard that I started to become a little skeptical. Not all triple-A games are bad, but lately, there have been a lot of disappointments made worse in contrast with highly successful indie games. I would love to see what a small passionate team could do with these old franchises. It worked for Mania!
I could see a big DLC pack for Mario Wonder or Tears of the Kingdom making a splash. Perhaps a new donkey kong country game as well. Would love to see a Metroid fusion remake.
@species8472 Lowering the price could be a good way to boost sales in the last part of the life cycle. Maybe with that, they could make the switch and beat the PS2 in terms of overall sales. That would be sick tbh. My guess is that if they did that they might make a "new" model that just removes all the bloat features (rip IR camera and HD rumble).

@MrGam3andBu1ld On point with that!
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct
Hear me out: Deltarune and Silksong appear at the presentation and the entire internet loses their minds.
Re: Listen Up, Mii Are Officially Back And They Now Have Ears
I hope they are building off the Mii Maker from Mittopia that was a really powerful character creator.

Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?
No way, my switch has been with me with too much and besides it's one of the models that can be modded which will be nice once support is gone.
Re: Talking Point: The 3DS Library Is Ripe For Switch 2, But Is NSO The Way To Go?

Re: Feature: Switch 2's Mouse Support Is Exciting, But Which Current Games Might Also Benefit?
Big missing entry on this list was Pikmin. Pikmin controlled best with wii pointer and a mouse would emulate that perfectly!

That would be exciting. But it feels a bit bizarre not to focus on games especially if this system is more iterative than not.
Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?
@rjejr A Switch 2 home could be a vibe if it has a big enough power boost. I don't take my switch out enough anyway so I'd be down for it.
