Re: Feature: "The Odds Seemed Just Astronomical" - Reviving Lost Media With Shantae Advance

MakeMyBiscuit

@LoneHammerBro I made that mistake at first with the Limited Run release of the original Shantae for the GBC and skipped it. I ended up spending more money for the game on the after market. With the uncertainty of digital games, I was glad to have the physical copy and the packaging and the quality was all top notch. Plus it is something I can actually pass on to my kids. I will definitely be preordering Shantae Advance for the GBA.

Re: Sega Wants To Take "Good Care" Of 2D And 3D Sonic In The Future

MakeMyBiscuit

I hope I'm not the only one here who wants this but I would love to see a true sequel to the 32X game Knuckles' Chaotix. It would also be great if they released the orginal game Knuckles' Chaotix on modern platforms so more people could play it. Once you really understand what the game is all about it really is a great game and I think underrated. It is one of the reasons I have a 32X system today.

Re: With Konami Refusing To Do A New Castlevania, Lords Of Exile Might Be The Next Best Thing

MakeMyBiscuit

Thanks for this article. I just backed it! All this retro goodness from a one-man team. Fantastic! I know some people are getting tired of the 8-bit aesthetic but again this is all from one guy and this "simplified" theme allows him to actually balance all aspects of the game from graphics to sound to gameplay and still actually get the thing done. I for one have no issue rewarding a man for his hard work. I would, on the other hand. love to see Konami just re-release a collection of their GBA Castlevania games in a compilation on modern platforms like they did their 8 bit and 16-bit games. I always felt those games had home console quality and would look and play great on the big screen. I would have thought this was a no brainer. What happened?

Re: Video: DOOM 64 Scrubs Up Pretty Nicely, It Turns Out

MakeMyBiscuit

Great news and Doom 64 looks very good especially since I can actually see what is happening. The original Doom 64, which I have, is just too dark even with the brightness turned all the way up. Sadly playing it on my N64 with the Super 64 HDMI connection does not help.

Re: Soapbox: Should I Wait For Switch 'Pro' Or Is The 'New' Switch SKU Worth An Upgrade?

MakeMyBiscuit

Great article. I was just thinking the same thing. Should I get the new Switch in August or wait for the eventual release of the "Pro"? I have waited this long. Waiting served me well with my Xbox One. I did not get a launch console Xbox One but waited. I even waited after the release of the Xbox One S and now I have an Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition and many of the hot games at launch were on discount when I got the system. There are some pretty sweet games out for the Switch right now but the reality is, I am not made of money and I have a ton of games for my retro systems to play. I have games for the, GB, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, GBA, N64, PS1, Gamecube, Original Xbox, DS, New 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and Xbox One X to keep me busy and all on official hardware not to mention the hundreds of games I own on Steam. Don't ask me why I have not started my own Youtube gaming channel yet. Because of my regular job, I do not even have enough time to play the games I have. Actually with the new Super64 by EON I am, right now, rediscovering the over 100 N64 games I have and they all look great. I have one more HDMI port on my TV I am saving for a Switch but I just might make my first Switch the "Pro". Who knows but by then the price of a 1 TB Micro SD card might be actually reasonable. I wish video games where my only expense in life but they are not. The nice thing about being old is that you can appreciate the collection you have amassed over the years.

Re: Hardware Review: The EON Super 64 Gives Your N64 HDMI Output, But Is It Really Worth $150?

MakeMyBiscuit

Just got my Super64 in the mail today and WOW! I already had pretty good picture quality coming from my N64 from using a S-video cable to an HDMI upscaler but using that same upscaler with the Super64 really makes the most out of what the Super64 has to offer especially when used with "slick" mode. The most immediate difference I saw was on the title screen of Mario Kart 64. With "slick mode" on and upscaled to 1080p via my upscaler and the Super64, Mario Kart 64 looks like an HD remaster. Really incredible stuff. So good in fact I don't think I will fork over the extra cash for the mClassic. If you have or are looking to get a Super64 pair it up with an HDMI upscaler which is much less than the price of the mClassic or mCables for some really amazing results. Also I did not notice any lag. Even a quality upscaler is much less than the price of the mCables. Also if you buy from Castlemania Games and use the code "ADAM" you should get 10% off of the price which really helps and there is no tax and free shipping. The code worked for me which made the Super64 $135 again with no tax and free shipping. I hope that helps.

Re: Hardware Review: The EON Super 64 Gives Your N64 HDMI Output, But Is It Really Worth $150?

MakeMyBiscuit

I can't wait! I pre-ordered mine and it should be here next week. I have been using a quality s-video cable and a HDMI Etekcity upscaler to connect my N64 to my HD TV and the results have been really good. I got my upscaler from Amazon back in 2013 and it still works perfectly. Fortunately for me this upscaler also has an HDMI in and it has the ability to further clean up the image and combined with the Super 64 I know I will be happy with the results. I was thinking about throwing on a mClassic adapter on it but that might come later. I'm not made of money after all. It is a great time to be a N64 fan!

Re: Play Your Nintendo 64 On Modern Displays With The Super 64 HDMI Adaptor

MakeMyBiscuit

This is great news for all N64 gamers. At first I was a little put off by the fact it was only 480p and not 720p or 1080p but then again, I have my first gen Wii hooked up to my HDTV and both my Wii games and Gamecube games look great in 480p with my HDTV doing the upscaling. It looks like the Super64 has a built in line doubler vs an upscaler which would explain the 480p resolution and lack of input lag.

Right now I have my N64 hooked up to my HDTV via an S-video cable to an HDMI upscaler adapter. The adapter is able to upscale the image to 1080p and the difference is night and day over the composite cables but I think there is a little lag. I have not noticed any lag and the games do play well but when EON says "lagless" gameplay that peaked my interest along with that slick mode. If it can go all this and not damage the system I believe it is well worth the price.

It is not quite a blind buy because of my set up right now so I will wait for the reviews but since I still do play my N64 and if this can improve on my current set up I'm all for it.

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

MakeMyBiscuit

@Cobalt That is pretty impressive. Thanks for the info. I was toying with the idea of using my last HDMI slot on my TV for a Gamecube with a Gameboy Player via third party Gamecube to HDMI cable. I love the idea of playing Gameboy games on the big screen but in the end I am going to save it for the Nintendo Switch. I already have a Wii backwards compatible with the Gamecube and the Switch is getting some good Wii U ports as well as original Switch games.

Re: Feature: The Final Wii U Games We'd Like To See On Switch In 2019

MakeMyBiscuit

Great list. I would like to see these games on the Switch. I don't care for Wii and Gamecube games on the Switch since I still use my gen 1 Wii but I would like to see Starfox Zero on the switch with more streamlined controls. I really fee that game suffered from gimmicky controls and the limited install base of the Wii U.

Re: Review: Transistor - A Towering Achievement That Comes Highly Recommended On Switch

MakeMyBiscuit

This is an amazing game with a fantastic soundtrack. It just oozes style. I have to admit, at first I did not appreciate because I wanted it to play like Hyper Light Drifter but when I realized this was a different king of game I was able to enjoy what the developers did here. Highly recommend! Again proof positive that a good game come from passion and not just pushing the most polygons and shaders.

Re: Sega Wants Simultaneous Video Game Releases Worldwide

MakeMyBiscuit

Loving all the 16 bit Sega classic games but Sega really needs to start bringing over or remastering some of their Saturn and Dreamcast classics. Would still love to see an HD remaster of Fighters Megamix, Panzer Dragoon 1, 2, and Saga along with Clockwork Knight 1 & 2, Shining The Holy Ark and Burning Rangers. Where is Astal? For the Dreamcast, Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 are a must along with Skies of Arcadia and the Dreamcast version of Daytona USA (with improved controls). Seriously what have the employees at Sega been doing all this time sitting on these great IPs and not even porting them to the current systems let alone making new sequels.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Analysis On Dark Souls: Remastered

MakeMyBiscuit

@sword_9mm

As you pointed out Xbox got it right with backwards compatibility and then some and it is because of that CPU. That custom CPU is what makes it possible to play original Xbox games and Xbox 360 games with better performance on the Xbox One X than on original hardware. Not a big deal for some newer gamers but a huge deal for older game collectors like myself with hundreds of games from multiple platforms and multiple generations. What Xbox can do with that CPU and backwards compatibility is almost like magic.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Analysis On Dark Souls: Remastered

MakeMyBiscuit

Another incredible release on the Switch. WOW! Really loving how game developers are really putting some serious effort behind the Switch. A far cry from the Wii U. Well done Nintendo!

Maybe I am just jaded from having to download AII my games on my Xbox One to my hard drive just to play them but remember on the Switch these games are playing right from the cart as they should be and to me that is also a big plus.

Re: Nintendo Has Reportedly Delayed the Roll-Out of 64GB Switch Game Cartridges

MakeMyBiscuit

@tamantayoshi I have to say, maybe Nintendo was actually the smart ones to use carts. I have an Xbox One X which came with a 1 TB hard drive BUT with the Xbox One AND PS4, although the Blu-ray discs can hold a lot of data, they are too slow to actually read all that data so ALL the games on the Xbox One and PS4 have to be downloaded onto their respective hard drives to play and in the first week I already used up all the space on my 1 TB hard drive. In fact, I already bought a 3 TB external hard drive. Carts don't have this issue and in time the price will only go down for both the cartridges themselves as well as the cost of the micro SD cards Nintendo was smart to use for storage unlike another portable gaming system, cough, cough, Sony Vita. The fact the Switch can use a 1 TB micro SD card that has not been invented yet, shows Nintendo was thinking ahead with memory. Yes, Nintendo is a for-profit game company but I also believe Nintendo makes it a priority to put out quality games so, assuming the article is true, if they say they need more time to work out the bugs on a 64 GB cart, I believe them.

Re: Book Review: Neo Geo: A Visual History

MakeMyBiscuit

@masterLEON I don't have a Switch yet. Most of my gaming money is going to the Xbox One X and I am waiting for micro SD card prices to go down a little bit more because I buy a lot of digital games and hate having to transfer games from one card to another. I already have hundreds of games on my Wii VC and playing the games on my Wii with the Classic Controller Pro works out very well.

***Update***
I just ordered the book 4 days ago and I just got it TODAY! Now that is customer service! Totally recommend! WOW!

Re: Book Review: Neo Geo: A Visual History

MakeMyBiscuit

AWESOME! Thanks, Nintendo Life for letting us know about this book. I love the Neo Geo and I am in the process of completing my Neo Geo collection on the Wii VC before they shut down the service. I just bought my book and can't wait for it to arrive!
