Re: The Club Nintendo Reward Details Are In For August

MakeMyBiscuit

Star Fox 64 is an AMAZING game and it looks better on the Wii VC than any N64 game could possible look on modern TVs. With that said, I already own it. What would really be special if they are going to do games is bring back the games they took away. I would go for the original SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy.

Re: Review: Moon Chronicles: Episode 1 (3DS eShop)

MakeMyBiscuit

I was a big fan of the original DS release but I stopped playing because the stylus controls did not work with my big hands. With improved graphics and Circle Pad Pro this is a must buy for me!

Does make me wonder where is 3DS Metroid Prime Hunters?!?!

Re: M2: Bringing Space Harrier To 3DS Was "Almost Impossible", But It's "The Definitive Version"

MakeMyBiscuit

I'm glad they went ahead and made it 3D rather than a quick port. I still have and love the Space Harrier on the 32X but I would love to pick this up to see it in 3D! I used to have Space Harrier 3D on the 8 bit Sega Master System so it would be nice to see a true arcade version in 3D.

Still waiting for Sega to release their Master System Sega Scope 3D games for the 3DS like Maze Hunter 3D as well as Zaxxon 3D.

Re: Conatus Creative Includes Wii U and 3DS Stretch Goals For River City Ransom: Underground

MakeMyBiscuit

I think they shot themselves in the foot when they decided to make it for the PC and the PS4 and Xbox One over the already established consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360. No one even has a PS4 or Xbox One. We have 3 PCs but we don't use them for gaming. Consoles should have been the focus in the begining and expecially Nintendo consoles. I would have loved to have this for the 3DS but again that should have been an original goal not a stretch goal. Look at "Mysterious Cities of Gold" (which I did back). Only for Nintendo systems and they made their mark. I also backed "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" and because the consoles people actually have were the focus in the beginning, they have made their goal as well. I can't see myself funding the project if it will only be on the PC. It is a shame because I really like the art style and I love the orginal and it looks like they have a really talented team

Re: Review: Jet Force Gemini (Nintendo 64)

MakeMyBiscuit

This was actually the first game I thought of when I got Jett Rocket for WiiWare.

It is amazing how many N64 games did not make it to VC and considering how good Nintendo made the games look in 480p, it's a real shame.

Looking back now I wish RARE made use of the Expansion Pak for this game or at least made a sequel with using the Expansion Pak.

Does anyone know why there was no Jet Force Gemini 2?

Re: Review: Turok: Rage Wars (Nintendo 64)

MakeMyBiscuit

@Mr_Reece

I totally agree about Turok on the 360/PS3. How epic would it have been to re-imagine the environments and weapons of the first Turok game with the power of the Xbox 360 and PS3. It was such a wasted opportunity

As far as Rage Wars, I never really appreciated this game for what it was when it first came out. I'm glad I gave it another chance and just recently bought it. Another great game in a great series.

Re: Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

MakeMyBiscuit

Another great game in the series and another great reason to own a N64

IMO the graphics look great even today. It was a testament to what the N64 could do in the right hands while using the Expansion Pak.

Re: Review: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Nintendo 64)

MakeMyBiscuit

BTW

That youtube video of Turok in HD and wide screen is AMAZING! I can do HD on my TV with my N64 but I am not able to widescreen without stretching the picture.

I just played a couple of levels in Turok right now and I would say 9 or 10!

This games ROCKS more so than I remember. The sound design is EPIC as well as the weapon designs, the variety of enemies and it really rewards exploration. It really has a cool sci-fi feel to it. Sure the controls take a while to get used to but when you do, it provides an accuracy for platforming that I think dual sticks can't touch.

As far as the fog being an issue, as someone else said it adds to the atmosphere and if you did not know better you would have thought it was a design element. I was having so much fun with this game again I had to remind myself it came out in 1997!

Again, another reason why the N64 is an amazing game system. I now have Turok, Rage Wars, Turok 2 and Turok 3 along with the expansion pak. It looks great on my HDTV. Of course it does not have the clarity of current gen games but if your HDTV doe not have an S-Video connection (sadly my new HDTV does not have one, but my old one did) hold on to that S-vidoe cable and get get a S-video to HDMI adapter and you can play the N64 in HD!

Re: Review: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Nintendo 64)

MakeMyBiscuit

I loved this game. The atmosphere and sound effects were amazing and it was just more than a point and shoot FPS. In many ways it was like a first person adventure game.

I too think a 5 is too low. This game was one of the reasons to own a Nintendo 64 back in the day. I love the whole Turok trilogy on the N64. Another reason why I currently have a Nintendo 64 system. I was so disappointed in the Xbox 360. I would have loved to see the original Nintendo 64 Turok world done up with current gen graphics and control and online support. It would have rivaled Halo Anniversary Edition but sadly that never happened

Re: Angry Birds Star Wars Confirmed for Wii U, Wii and 3DS

MakeMyBiscuit

I was waiting for this game to come out on a proper game console. I have run out of space on my tablet despite the fact I have a 32 GB SD card in it. I can't load games on the card. It is the early days of the Wii and DS all over again

Why is this game so much? I will have to wait to see how well is plays on the 3DS before I consider getting it.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto "Wanted to go to HD Sooner" With the Wii

MakeMyBiscuit

I think the Wii struck a good balance with price and performance. I have an HD TV and what I don't understand is why Nintendo did not pack in component cables for 480p gaming when more people got HD TVs. They had the capability to make games look better on HD TVs but they did not really push it. With HD game development comes higher costs. I believe it was the creator of Gears of War who said game development costs have sky rocketed do to development in HD. Because of this developers have to sell more games just to make up those costs which mean they take less chances and this is sometimes at the cost of variety. I love all the different types of games in the Wii library. There are still games I have yet to play. I think Nintendo did great with the Wii. They just should have updated their cables and advertised what that would do for HD TVs.

BTW couldn't the Sega Dreamcast display games in 720p and the Wii is way more powerful than the Dreamcast but the Dreamcast had some really nice looking games.

Re: Review: Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike (GameCube)

MakeMyBiscuit

@CaPPa

I actually got Lair for the PS3 and with the patch that fixes the controls it's a great game with a unique story line, great graphics and awesome action. Too bad people didn't give it a chance after the patch

@Jukilum

I was afraid of that Oh well, another reason I am not going to part with my Gamecube enabled Wii and my N64 anytime soon

Re: Review: Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike (GameCube)

MakeMyBiscuit

Thanks for the review. I too think a 5 is a little low. I actually appreciated the variety in the game play and Factor 5 could push the Gamecube hardware like no one else outside of Nintendo itself. I would say at "least" a 7 if not more. Again I am a proud owner of the complete Rougue Squadron trilogy . Too bad Factor 5 was not able to do a re-release on the Wii. Is it even possible for Nintendo to do a remasted HD Rougue Squadron trilogy release on the Wii U? That would be epic indeed. If no one at Nintendo can or has the time to do it, give it to Retro Studios

Re: Review: Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GameCube)

MakeMyBiscuit

Fantastic review! I totally agree. This is one of the reasons I will hold onto my Gamecube enabled Wii. Playing it in 480p is AWESOME! I am proud to say I am owner of the whole Rogue Squadron trilogy. The original N64 game is one of the reasons I recently bought a Nintendo 64. Combined with the Expansion Pak and a special adapter that converts my N64 video cable to HD 1080p, even the original looks good on my HD TV and of course all the games sound amazing! A very incredible feat by Factor 5 with the memory limitations of the N64 cart.

It is a shame there was no proper Rougue Squadron trilogy re-release on the Wii when Factor 5 was still around

Re: 3DS Tops NPD Hardware Sales for May

MakeMyBiscuit

I guarantee they would sell more 3DS XLs in NA if they released it in black. I know I would buy one. I have big hands and the regular 3DS is just not comfortable to play. I actually use the Circle Pad Pro not for the second Circle Pad but because it make the 3DS more comfortable to use. As of now I have zero interest in the colors currently available for the 3DS XL in NA

Re: Lots of Sonic Lost World Wii U and 3DS Footage Dashes Into View

MakeMyBiscuit

Sonic meets Super Mario Galaxy as a Nintendo exclusive. BRILLIANT! Way to pay homage to Super Mario Galaxy and bring something new to the Sonic world. As a Nintendo exclusive, Sega can maximize the strengths of the Wii U and 3DS platforms without the consideration of dumbing it down to make it a port for other systems and because if this both games look AMAZING! Way to go Sega! I don't have a Wii U so I will definitely be picking up the 3DS version. Funny thing is that this news makes me what to pick up other Sonic games I've missed so I will be tracking down Sonic Generations as well as Sonic Colors

Re: Review: Star Wars Episode I: Battle for Naboo (Nintendo 64)

MakeMyBiscuit

I have this game right now. Makes me glad I picked up a N64 system

Factor 5 really new knew how to make the N64 hardware sing!

Because of this game and Rogue Squadron I had to pick up Indian Jones & The Infernal Machine also by Factor 5 and for the N64. The version for the N64 was even better than the PC version. I'm a huge fan of these guys!

Re: Senior EA Employee Caught Out Criticising Wii U On Twitter

MakeMyBiscuit

Each system has its strengths and weaknesses. I don't have a Wii U but I do have an Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. If he can't maximize the strength of each system then he is a bad Software Engineer and Architect and needs to get the boot. There are plenty of other people who would love to have his job.

BTW I thought the Tiger Woods Golf games sold big for EA on the Wii That was a game that took advantage of the Wii's unique abilities and it sold well.

Re: Frontier Would "Very Much Like" To Make Another LostWinds Game

MakeMyBiscuit

I have both Lost Winds games on my Wii and love them! Takes talent to squeeze so much gaming goodness in such a small WiiWare file. Again 2 more reasons why I will hold onto my Wii and never let it go...well that sounds a little bad but you guys know what I mean

If they make a new Lost Winds game I would definitely get it!

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo

MakeMyBiscuit

@Marioman64

Thanks. I just got my new 32 GB card today and I want to take advantage of the sales in the e-shop. I will check this out!

Update:

Sadly the transfer did not work In the middle of the transfer of from my old card to the new one I got a message saying something like "redundancy error" and the transfer stopped so now I am re-downloading my whole library including my Ambassador games from the e-shop. It's working but it is such a pain I have almost 100 games

I just finished downloading everything and it all works fine with my new 32GB card. At the very least my 3D pictures and videos transferred to the new card before I got the error message. None of the save data of my games transferred though. It's time to rediscover all my downloaded games again

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo

MakeMyBiscuit

@Stark_Nebula
Thanks for the reply. I usually go with SanDisk because I've had no problems with them but the card that froze up was a SanDisk card. They stick by their products so I got a full refund no problem. Maybe I just got a bad card. I was actually thinking it had to do with Nintendo's anti-piracy software bricking my card

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo

MakeMyBiscuit

I just bought another 32GB SD card. I say another because when I tried to transfer my data from my 2 GB card to my first 32 GB card the card got locked up and I was unable to use it so I had to send it back

Anyone have any ideas of how to successfully transfer my data or should I just reformat my card and download everything again from the E-shop. This is probably the last card I will get so if I have to download all my games this one time I don't mind.

Any thoughts?

Re: First Impressions: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

MakeMyBiscuit

@UnseatingKDawg

The cool thing about certain Samsung 3D TVs is that they have an on board processor to convert any image, be it TV, Blu ray or video game into 3D in real time. It's actually pretty incredible. Some Blu ray players have this feature but that limits you to what you can play only via the Blu ray player.

I did not realize the Wii version did not support the Classic Controller. It seams like a missed opportunity but at least many people say the motion controls were not that bad.

Re: First Impressions: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

MakeMyBiscuit

Still on the fence with this one. I Still have my Wii and I also have a N64 so my first priority is to get Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii as well as Donkey Kong 64. If NOA decides to finally release the 3DS XL in all black I will consider getting this game. I got spoiled by the bigger screen on the XL it is hard going back the the regular 3DS so I don't play it as much as I used to

If I want to play Donkey Kong Country Returns in 3D I can just push the 3D button on my Samsung LED 3D tv and then I would have Donkey Kong in 3D on the large screen

It's curious Nintendo ported this game over to the 3DS and not the Metroid Prime games. I would have thought the Metroid Prime series would have been a perfect fit for the Circle Pad Pro. Oh well again an example of Nintendo being successful despite what they do.
