It was a ground breaking game for the Xbox so it is nice to see it coming for the Wii with bonus features In truth, some of the older Xbox games had more effort put into them as far as gameplay and graphics than some modern Wii games.
I'll keep an eye on this one to help me decide between getting the Xbox or Wii version.
Looks interesting. The graphics look like they could be a little more polished up but this looks exactly like how I thought the sequel to "Heavy Fire" (which I really liked) could look, game play wise.
I loved this game and Flashback. Seriously, these were 2 games I missed from my SNES and Sega Genesis. If these games were on VC I would buy them in a heart beat.
Wow. This is when I wish WiiWare had more demos for their games.
I usually agree with the reviews of games on this site but I decided to check this out anyways. I'm a huge fan of light gun games ever since House of the Dead 2 and my Dreamcast and I can say this game ROCKS!!! I would have given it a 8 or 9 easy.
It is almost as if the reviewer already knew he did not like the game before he played it and found reasons to make that come true.
Teyon did a great job with this game. They really packed a lot into this WiiWare title and it shows. I do have to say I use the "Nyko Perfect Shot" for all my gun games. Just using the Wii Remote alone does not cut it for me and the Wii Zapper just feels awkward.
Playing this game with the "Perfect Shot" felt natural. The big "shake to reload" was nothing more that a quick flip up with the gun and you are back in business. Seriously, it actually felt better than shooting off the screen and the game's difficulty does pick up.
You owe it to yourself pick up a "Nyko Perfect Shot" (if you don't already have one" and try out this game if you are a fan of light gun games.
Teyon should be commended for their efforts and 500 points is a no brainer. I would have easily paid 1000 points for this game. It certainly looks better than any N64 game for that price. It is amazing they packed so much into 40 MB! This game along with "Jett Rocket" and "Pearl Harbor" show what talented designers can do with WiiWare.
Way to go Teyon! I can't wait for what you come up with next.
You would think they would be in San Diego, CA for the Comic Con next week. They usually have a big showing there every year. Huh? That would have been a no brainer. Oh well
This is one example why Europe has more Wiis hooked up to the internet than the U.S.
Seriously, they should show that commercial in the U.S.
It reminded me why I love my Wii. It would have been perfect if they showed Wii classics like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Excite Trucks and Metroid Prime Trilogy as well as mention the Wii to Gamecube back wards compatibility.
Is there no limit to what great game companies can do on WiiWare? Next thing you know we will see a 3D Super Mario Galaxy type adventure game...oh wait
Seriously, I am really excited to see so many quality titles coming out for WiiWare.
@EdEN All this is done even WITH the 40MB restorations which makes the game that much more incredible!
Give credit where credit is due. I applaud the makers of Jett Rocket. Nintendo itself does not even have a first party WiiWare game that looks this good. I also remember the makers of Monkey Island saying their games could not operate as smoothly on WiiWare as the iPhone because of the WiiWare restrictions. I wonder if they are saying the same thing after seeing this game in motion.
Simply put, Shinen is doing things that have never been seen or even thought possible on the WiiWare Service. I too am getting this on Day 1, provided the game play holds up! It is definitely my radar.
Now lets hope Nintendo of America does a better job of getting more NA Wii owners online so more people can enjoy games like this and game developers like Shinen can be rewarded by their efforts.
Sweet review! Gamestop just texted me today to pick my game up tomorrow. I got the bundle with the black Classic Controller Pro. $10.00 for a Classic Controller Pro was a no brainer
I too think the whole Netflix option will help to get more people online. I hope this gets better. Who knows, the release of Monster Hunter Tri might bring over the fans of the PSP version who know the value of online play.
Also, Nintendo has to advertise that the system has built in Wi-Fi. You have to buy it extra for the Xbox 360. I bet if they slapped a sticker on front of the Wii box saying "Free Built In Wireless Adapter Included" I bet more people would be going online.
As much as Nintendo is doing online (VC, WiiWare, Nintendo Channel ect) it is amazing that online does not seem to be more of a focus with its ad campaigns.
If they really wanted to get people online they could give people 800 Nintendo points for just getting the system online and if they really, really wanted to get people online they would give away Super Mario All Stars FREE for anyone who gets their system online.
Now this is how a company should handle a Wii game. Don't just give me a watered down port of an Xbox 360 game. Do what works well for the 360/PS3 for the 360/PS3 and do what works well for the Wii on the Wii and push the limits of both platforms. This way people can enjoy both!
I almost missed the end of the trailer: "Full 1992 Prince of Persia Game Included"
NICE! I did not even know there was a 1992 version of the game. I had to look it up on Youtube. I hope it will be the SNES version. That game looked pretty SWEET! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRp0p_ziNIw
I just got the Netflix disc yesterday (4/14/2010) and I have to say that the video quality was better than I expected (if you have not traded up to component cables your missing out).
I usually watch Netflix on the Xbox 360 or my PC but now it is nice to have the option to watch it on my Wii.
Now if they can just make the Netflix disc a channel on the Wii menu, that would be perfect!
"@accc: Don't worry, as Jett Rocket doesn't comes on a disc there is no cause for loading times. Decompressions is done in the background. Everything is precached and streamed from the Wiis internal memory."
I did not even know that was possible. WOW! Not to mention how much data you have compressed into 40MB.
The game looks Incredible! I had to make a double take to see that this was actually a WiiWare game and not a full retail release. Very impressive Shin'en Multimedia!
I think we are seeing a new Renaissance in WiiWare games
I knew it. They put so much work into the Wii version already. I know this will be on the radar for me. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Sadly, with the lack of support from the Wii "hardcore" user base they had to throw a bone to the 360 and PS3 so they could pay their bills. I'm glad they still kept with Wii development.
It looks like I will be getting The Grinder for the 360 and the Wii.
Keep up the good work. Here's to hoping you guys are actually rewarded for your efforts.
I'll have to see the review on this one. Was this also available on PC?
I'm not too excited about the main character design. The end bosses look cool then you have this stubby Indiana Jones with a whip jumping around. With Cave Story the design of the main character worked with the style of the rest of the game.
In this game, the main character looks cool in the menu screens but that's it. I mean even in the first 8 bit Metroid game Samus looked cool. I hope they change the look of the main character or at least give you an option between super deformed Indy and cool Indy or in the very least make the change the design so the super deformed character looks cool.
I'm getting it. I'm definitely supporting Pixel and Nicalis for their efforts to bring this game to us. Come on, they re-did (as in re-drew) all the graphics AND included content that was going to be DLC.
I get so upset when people are not willing to support people who do good work. We live in a world where things cost money, plain and simple. Game developers make games so they can support themselves and their families. Its simple economics.
Too many people pirating games, music and movies for free and somehow think they are "entitled" to someone else's creative work and effort.
Sorry, I just see this on the internet way too often.
If you don't like the game just don't buy it. To each, their own.
This game ROCKS big time! It was a day 1 purchase for me. I can't wait until I have more time to put into it. If people don't buy and support this game and the developers, than Wii owners don't deserve this kind of effort.
SWEET!!! I'm getting "Rondo" AND "Rage of the Gladiator". I hope ROTG playable without Motion + because I'm waiting for my Motion + when my Red Steel 2 comes in.
I'll wait for the review on Triple Shot.
Sometimes I don't know what to believe of some Wii "hardcore" fans.
People complain and complain that there are no hardcore games and its all shovelware but when good games do come out, where developers obviously put in some effort in, people don't buy them
I have to be honest, at first when I heard of this game and saw the screen shots, I was not that impressed...that is until I downloaded the PC game and now I'm hooked!!!
There is just something about how this games feels that draws you in. The style, music, game play and story all work together pefectly. You could tell a lot of care was put into it.
This enhanced WiiWare version is a MUST BUY for me!
Thank you for that trailer. NICE! I like the grown up and detailed look! This is what WiiWare should be all about.
@ imapterodactyl, you always have the NES version. I have to stand by Sunsoft on this one. I also like the music. I don't think it is butchered at all.
Does anyone know the size of this game? With quality title's like this and Konami's Rebirth series, it looks like I might be on my way to filling up my 2 gig SD card this year.
Have you guys down loaded the orginal Cave Story on PC? You know it is for free. With all this talk about Cave Story and release dates being pushed back on WiiWare I decided to download the orginal. I hate using the keyboard for platformers but there is gamepad support and my Gravis Gamepad Pro works PERFECTLY!
The game ROCKS! This will more than tide me over until the WiiWare version comes out, plus I think I will be able to appreciate the upgrades made for the WiiWare game after completing the PC game. Not to mention how Blaster Master Overdrive will be dominating my time.
I don't understand that. As Kachu2142 said, it's FREE! I am also down loading it. They have even included cover art! This is a treu labor of love. Thanks nintendolife for letting us know.
The Classic Controller Pro is a much improved update. In addition to having grips and being more comfortable to use, the button layout is much better than the original Classic Controller. It has four shoulder buttons unlike the 2 on the original and the analog sticks are further apart.
Maybe they will release it with Monster Hunter but I still don't know why there is not even any talk about it. I mean they already made it, just ship it over here : (
Two new colors of the Wii Remote are nice but where is the Classic Controller Pro for the U.S.?!?! They don't even have to change the color just bring it out over here.
Am I the only one who is confused as to why the Pro has not been released or even given a release date for the U.S.?
I am so greatful Nintendo did this and the collector's case is a nice knod to the fans. I LOVE having Wii controls for Prime 1 and 2 and 480p widescreen is NICE!
The ONLY thing I thought was missing was to add online and Wii Speak to Prime 2's multiplayer. I mean Metroid Prime Hunters had it and that was how many years ago?
Who knows. With the Wii limited storage space a thing of the past maybe there will be a multiplayer download patch
"Sexy Poker" is ranking very high in the U.S. and Canada and does not even make it on the chart in other countries. What does that say about us in North America...maybe it wasn't released in the other countries. Yeah that's it!
I'm still waiting on "Super Mario Brothers All Stars" but seeing how well the 8 bit "Super Mario" games are doing it looks like I will be waiting a bit longer.
I'm actually surprised "Super Star Wars" was on not there. I know I got it day 1.

Re: These Nintendo Demakes are Adorable or Awesome or Both
Those were AWESOME!
Now this is what I would have liked to have for DSiWare.
Come on Nintendo, make it happen and give us that firmware update for the DSi so I don't have to swap games out with my SD card.

Sunsoft, what else are you going to unleash on us, hmmmm.
