Bandai Namco has announced that it will be bringing Namco Museum Arcade Pac exclusively to Nintendo Switch this September.
This 2-in-1 bundle will contain both Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus and Namco Museum, bringing both titles together in a retail release. We loved both of these titles when they first launched, scoring them at 9/10 and 8/10 respectively in our reviews, so we can't imagine this bundle being anything other than pure joy for those yet to experience the two games.
Of course, Namco Museum contains eleven different titles for you to enjoy, essentially bumping this up to a 12-in-1 package. In case you were unaware, here are those eleven games:
– Dig Dug
– Galaga
– Galaga ’88
– Pac-Man
– Pac-Man Vs.
– Rolling Thunder
– Rolling Thunder 2
– Sky Kid
– Splatterhouse
– Tank Force
– The Tower of Druaga
No pricing has been confirmed for the bundle just yet, with more details expected to follow, but we'd assume that it will offer a price lower than that of the two games separately. The launch date is currently scheduled to be 28th September.
Have you played either of these games? Will you be picking them up now that they're in a bundle together? Let us know in the comments below.

Both very solid titles, if you don't have them already then the bundle should be on your list!
All-right Namco, we'll make a deal.
I'll buy these games again if you promise to bring out a similar collection with all the Xevious games ever released!
What Mr Meppi said. If this is going to be a series of collections, then you can have my money (again!)
For them all together? £20 tops
I'm so glad I waited. Hopefully this isnt more than $40 though. I'd prefer $30, but I'm also realistic.
Okay Konami. Give us a collection of your arcades. TMNT, Simpsons, Bucky O Hare, Moo Mesa, X-Men, etc. Wow, this is going to be some licensing nightmare!
PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+, was way better. They just broke the flow in 2 that made the first so perfect.
Looked at both of these when they came out but thought they were overpriced. If they are doing a good deal on these I’d pick it up.
I haven’t got either yet but having just gone in on the vertical grip - this is brilliant news as I had planed to get Namco and this is now day one purchase material
They're announcing a bundle on these... a few months out? What's the holdup? What work still needs to be one? Are they doing genius-level complex arithmetic to figure out the optimum price?
@RadioHedgeFund I'm guessing since they are £29.99 for the Museum collection and £16.99 for pac man that the bundle won't be £20.00... I hope it is but I'm guessing more like £34.99
WHY DID I GO DIGITAL FOR THESE
I just wish Namco would put out Bosconian and Rally X so I can put my plug n play Namco Arcade to pasture. Both are more fun than Pacman and Galaga-still like those though. One day I'll pick up the Namco collection.
Quick cashgrab ? MAKE NEW GAMES !!!!
Of course, after I buy Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus during the E3 sale.
Ridge Racer, Namco ?
Disappointing. Namco screwed up by only releasing Pac Man CE 2 on Switch. A full package with CE 1 and DX would have been amazing (especially since CE 2 is, by far, the weakest game in the CE series).
And while the museum is decent, it's just too expensive with too much filler for what it is.
Here's the list of games contained in Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for the PlayStation 2: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Pole Position II, Rolling Thunder, Rally X, Bosconian, Dragon Spirit, Sky Kid, Xevious, and Mappy.
My point being that these Namco compilations have actually regressed substantially in overall size and quality. I've no idea why this is the case; it certainly can't be technical limitations (they could easily add Ridge Racer and some of their later arcade fighting games like Soul Calibur to the mix as well without modern consoles breaking a sweat). It's kind of hard to plunk the money down for another round when we're getting less in return, at any rate, but that's just me.
@LinktotheFuture Same! 😅
I’m hoping the Namco Museum original game is discounted because of this.
I hope for those of us that bought one of the titles that they'll allow us to then get the other at a discount. I have championship edition 2 plus already, and wouldn't be opposed to getting the museum collection for the right price.
Like the mock-up someone has done of the case:
@premko1 well they are confirmed to be working on Smash Ultimate, so they are making new games... for the Switch at that...
Perfect for the Flip Grip!
Wish, wish, wish I'd picked up NM when it was 50% off.
Also it's true. PacMan Championship Edition 2 is the weaker of the games.
@delt75 my though exactly
I think that it's time for Namco to do a new Arcade compilation with some of their more recent (1990's? Hello???) offerings:
-Cybersled
-Ridge Racer
-Tekken
-Soul Edge
-Soul Caliber
-Time Crisis
-Point Blank
-Ace Combat
-Final Lap
-Steel Gunner
Namco isn't the only company who is guilty of this. Sega, Capcom, Konami, etc. also had an awesome run in the arcades, during the 1990's, yet they seem content to squeeze out countless variations of the same compilations that focus on one era.
Why they can't make any additions to the collection? Everyone knows that Ms. Pacman is a better game than Pacman. I wouldn't pay more than 20 euro for this
I’m so tired of buying these things digitally only to find out a physical version is coming soon. It’s really making me regret nearly every game I’ve bought digitally so far.
Take my money!
I was hoping Namco Museum would come to physical eventually. This will be a day one buy for me.
@MH4 That would be nice!
Klonoa remake namco? or for smash
Hope its actually physical with no download code tucked away in the case.
Yeah physical retail! No download codes required! That's why I'm holding off on the Megaman collections for a full physical edition!
Too late
So glad I waited! I knew they’d pull this crap!
I always notice Dig Dug 2 never gets the love it deserves. Always the original, re-released 900 times.
where is GALAXIAN? Where is MAPPY?
Physical or no purchase from me. Love these games though.
Already own bofe
Still think a Namco Museum 90s Edition could be milked to death to. Ridge Racer, Time Crisis (Using a joycon as a lightgun), Point Blank, there's more than your 80s titles Namco.
@Magician its a physical bundle of 2 games already available on digital.
RETAIL RELEASE YES!
Wow, I really, really, messed up. I let Pac-Man Championship 2 Plus sit in my backlog, forever awaiting a sale, finally caved and bought it for $20, then the next day, it goes on sale. NOW, there's Namco Museum and PC2P in one package. UGH my luck! >_<
I heard that the switch version of Pac-Man CE2 has framerate drops?
@brianvgplayer bro its portable be happy... stop wasting your life being a graphics whore
@duffmmann That's not an excuse !!!
@sixrings I was asking since it's not mentioned often and I wasn't sure if it was fixed. No need to be rude or make unwarranted accusations. Not to mention that framerate is something that affects gameplay.
@LinktotheFuture So true. I cave in after seeing the E3 discount for Pac-Man CE 2, even after thinking to myself "this won't be available physical", and now lo and behold. Would have been nice to own both physically, but unless I see a major discount for that retail release, I'm good.
So it is just re-marketing some games they have already had...
IMO games like this are better digital and quickly playable, but good news for those that prefer physical.
@SmaMan How long exactly do you think it would take to get the cards, press them, manufacture the packaging, and get copies shipped out to stores all over the country? It's not exactly like they can just poof them there. Plus, the marketing team does need a little time to do their work too.
@link3710
Oh! My mistake. I missed that this was going to be a retail release. It sounded like at first it was just going to be a digital bundle.
Come on Namco, stop re-releasing the same old pack of ROMs and give us some of your more “recent” stuff like Ridge Racer, Rave Racer, Time Crisis, etc.
@RyanSilberman "why I went digital?"
my dilemma every time I see an indie game I just bought going physical.
I hope they don't have the infamous download required because they are to cheap to use a bigger cartridge.
Glad I waited. Physical rules; digital drools.
@meppi64 plus a new xevious title!
@Magrane Same here. I like the game, but I am not going to buy it twice unless I get a really good deal.
Day one is they don't pull Capcom-style one-on-cartridge crap on us.
Both games were too expensive (and in Pacman's case, too large) to justify a digital-only release, and this has been totally unexpected, so now I'm especially glad I waited.
I most likely would have skipped both if not for this release. I just hope it comes to Australia as well.
Pretty good selection of games there.
@BanjoPickles Blimey. That would be an incredible compilation. I'm hoping this becomes a series of games akin to the Capcom volumes on PS1. Getting to the 90s would be an amazing climax. Now, Ed Boon needs to give us Midway Arcade Treasures again
Really hoping for multiple volumes of this on Switch. There are so many great Namco titles that are missing, and tons of better Pac Man titles that could be released.
@JayJ and presumably bundling them into one launchable title instead of 2 separate titles, that's pretty nice for such a collection of games. Not changing the world, but I appreciate when things like this happen. I'd still prefer if you could get the Megaman Legacy collections and Megaman X collections as one title each instead of needlessly split between 2 separate titles.
@Pink_Floyd neither game is so large for that to even be an entertained option.
@duffmmann I hope. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 cames with one on a cartridge and MMLC 2 with a download code.
Not bad I suppose. Bandai Namco has been pushing out collections like this for years. I remember similar things on PS1 back in the day.
@MysteryCupofJoe That's REALLY wishful thinking. Haha
First of all Konami doesn't really care about gamers. And they wouldn't likely spend a dime to buy the copyright licenses for games like Simpsons, X-Men, or Bucky-o-Hare.
The PS3 and 360 had Xmen and Simpsons, but the license expired and they were both delisted forever from both stores.
You son of a gun Namco!! After I bought both digitally!! Ughhh i hate when the industry does this to us!! At least throw in Ms Pac Man and a few other Namco classics to the retail package so I can justify the purchase in my own brain!!! 😡😡
Also where the heck is volume 2????
@BanjoPickles well at least Sega has the Sega Ages coming to Switch which includes console and arcade Sega games! Looking forward to that even though it seems they will come to us individually.
Yeap I'm grabbing me this as soon as I could afford it.
@GrailUK unfortunately, Warner Bros owns all the Midway & late Atari classics but they did do a collection disc for 360 and PS3 so there’s hope!!
@Heavyarms55 yup Namco did 5 volumes of 5-6 games each on psone at $50 a pop! Lol
@joey302 I don't think I ever bought a PS1 game myself, new. I was still at the age where even if I wanted to use my allowance, I had to ask my parent's permission. lol Was 50 dollars high at that time?
@joey302
What I’m really hoping for is that Sega uses the service as an excuse to be interesting. Let’s see them delve into the Dreamcast catalog, hire a few super fans to figure out a way to work around the source code issue with Panzer Dragoon Saga (the game is too good to merely be a mystery notch on a Top 200 list), release what few games were made for the 32X (Kolibri, Knuckles Chaotix), etc.
Only only only and only if it's out for a good price, which I don't think will happen, so pretty sure it's a no for me.
@JJ286 I can accept that for indies since they may not always have the budget to be able to afford manufacturing physical copies.
But first Sonic Mania, now this. I should probably stop buying AAA digital games without waiting out long enough for a physical reveal.
@SmaMan Oh! Well your comment makes sense knowing that.
@Heavyarms55 like today pretty similar pricing 50-60 bucks yes
@BanjoPickles I’m praying they pull out all the stops oh man I hope!! Dreamcast is a possibility but perfect arcade ports already has me excited enough!! Gain Ground is an odd first arcade choice though but a great game nonetheless!! I’ll take some 32x love and toss in some Sega cd too!!
Got Pac 2 on its own. It's alright, but Championship Edition DX is way better.
Awesome, i held off of getting the Namco colelction in the hope it would become a physical.
Pac-Man DX 2 comes close to being a Tempest 2000 quality sequel, but falls short because of the 5 minute time limit in score attack. I tried the adventure mode, but it wasn’t really doing anything for me. Played about 3-4 hours and haven’t looked back. Too bad.
This is why I stopped buying eShop games. The good ones get physical releases eventually.
...so this is just adding one more game to a collection thats already out?...
Was hoping this would include the fabulous Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. Not bought CE2 as I've heard so many people say it's disappointing compared to the previous game.
