Re: PSA: Is Your Switch Overheating? Perhaps The Joy-Con Rails Need A Clean

MadCow74

@NEStalgia I think it may indeed be caused by bad/dirty contacts causing the contacts to heat up while the joy cons are charging. A bad contact means a higher resistance and thus you will have power dissipation. People that never take the joy-cons off may not even have this issue as the batteries are almost full all the time and the contacts are less prone to get dirty.

@TheFox I was very much on the fence if I should upgrade and initially decided after seeing some YT videos not to upgrade. I thought that the improvements were not justifying getting the upgrade. But as I do very much enjoy SC2 I kept the interest. I watched a comparison video on YT between 1,2 and 3 and noticed the details of the improvements the reviewer was talking about.

Then I just bought it and started to compare it myself. It just feels better than 2, but this is my opinion. It feels more realistic, I can't explain it better than that. It also looks better. The video that convinced me: https://youtu.be/zt2WW5eu_Do

Well, I bought it and loving it so far! Been playing 2 and 3 for a couple of hours alternating between them both and 3 wins hands down. Lighting and shadows are way better in 3. Color palette is better in 3. Physics, track deformation, rider stance, yup, all better in 3.

Suspension and bike reaction to track especially wet track is so much better in 3! I actually like the wet track a lot more in 3. I compared Seattle with a wet track and after playing 3 a bit, the wet track in 2 just seemed off and chaotic. The light reflections and puddles are very nice in 3. Next to that, it runs butter smooth! You know what is the biggest overall feeling? When I play 2 I feel like a spectator, with 3, I feel like I'm actually the rider! Milestone, well done!

I'm not seeing any lag. I did turn off all assistants from the beginning so maybe it gets laggy when assistants are enabled? Maybe to give the game engine time to reply with assists? I don't agree with the low score and I give it a solid 7. I'm having a lot of fun especially when using the bonnet cam! It's not great, but with the offering currently on the eShop, it sure scratches the itch!

I love this game, no real issues seen and tutorial for me was enough to get started. I currently have a 15K city and having a great time. So much fun to create bus and tram lines. Trying to solve traffic jams, building bridges and tunnels, fun, fun, fun! I don't agree with NL's score and currently Metacritc is showing a more positive image about this game.

I never heard of this game and will research it later today when I come home. I did quickly watch a short video in my break time. As I would love to have some train simulator on the Switch I'm wondering if this could scratch the itch for now, as I did see trains in the video. Anyone knows how deep the train system in this games goes?

Re: Review: Chess Ultra (Switch eShop)

The game is very nice. I like that you can lock the camera with clicking the right stick and then still can zoom to your preffered level. The chess pieces I find a bit fuzzy looking, especially the oponent ones because there even smaller. I find this the worst when using the Staunton chess pieces in the Musei Capatali. I can't really put my finger on it but it's like the lighting in the game makes me want to rub my eyes in an effort to see the chess pieces sharper. I also noticed the few games I played the computer likes to follow the same opening moves. If I start the same way as in a previous game the computer plays the exact same moves. Again, I only played a few games so maybe I'm too fast to judge here. I also noticed that the game likes to eat my battery a lot. These things asside I really like the game and the music and sound effects are spot on. In Woodburn Manor you hear the wind outside and the crackling fire with great music next to it. Turn the music volume down and you're having a relaxing game on a cold stormy night!
