Qubic Games and The House of Fables are bringing Mini Trains to Nintendo Switch next week, a port of Trains VR which launched on Steam last summer.
The game features 40 puzzling levels where you must build the perfect track for your model trains; the goal is to collect stars on each stage, but some of them might be a little tricky to get your hands on. You'll need to keep an eye on each train's route, avoid collisions, and learn from your mistakes.
Of course, with the Switch only supporting VR when using the Nintendo Labo VR Kit - and therefore not having it as a standard feature - that part of the game has been removed. Instead, the VR experience has been transformed into what Qubic Games describes as a "more accessible way" to play with a new isometric camera which allows players to have a wider view of the stage. You can see how it all looks in the trailer above.
Here's a list of the game's main features:
- Unique toy-like graphics, with isometric camera and option to take a closer look at the details from first person view;
- 40 levels, each with multiple solutions so you can find your own way to complete it;
- Many tools to deal with puzzles – switches, turntables, and tunnels. Use them to solve logistical problems;
- Childhood dreams without buying all expensive railway sets, on your console.
As we mentioned above, the game launches next week on 19th July. You can already go ahead and pre-purchase it now on the eShop for $5.99 / £5.39.

I'd love if this had a sandbox mode where you could create your own layout. I always wanted to make a model train layout since when I was young.
@AxeltheCorvikni Me too, this could at least scratch some of the train game itch I'm having lately. Still hoping on a decent train simulator!
Love train games!
The game in the link to follow has just launched on iOS. I asked the developers if they plan a Switch release as it looks as quite a cool game for the Switch where you can make you own layouts. You can find it here: https://modelrailwayeasily.com/
This seems a good proof of concept of how irrelevant VR really is to the gaming experience.
Not a big deal that VR is missing in this game.But I still hope more first third parties will add it trough labo like Spice and wolf.I would love ARMS and Hatsune Miku Megamix in VR.
I mean, I don't know how good the game actually is but you can't fault 6 bucks unless it is awful.
"Unique toy-like graphics"
Link's Awakening remake found laughing its rear off.
«Railway Puzzler Trains VR Is Being Ported To Switch»
Sweet, some games that uses the Labo VR..... « But Without The VR Part» ....
(Facepalm)
It occurred to me yesterday that the Switch Lite probably can't be used with VR
No idea why anyone would support LABO VR. It didnt sell and now Nintendo Abandoned it with the Switch LITE. The user base is non existent.
At first I thought this game would be great, it looks so simple to build and play. Then after I saw train crashes, I realized that I would probably crash a hundred trains in game play.
