Screw 'em. It's an overpriced controller to be paired with a greedy cruddy service, and they couldn't even get a decent amount stocked. I'm not buying one regardless of when it becomes available again.
Tbh, I'm a little sceptical of how well a re-release would turn out. Goldeneye 007 is very much designed with the range and sensitivity of the original N64 joystick, trying to play the game with a 3rd party joystick or different controller makes it control way worse. I'm not sure if I trust Nintendo to actually put in the effort to make it control well in N64 Online.
What I do recommend though, especially for people who find Goldeneye unplayable these days due to dated controls + low framerate, is to check out the 60fps keyboard+mouse romhack for Goldeneye on PC. That's an amazing way to play the game.
...man. The mandatory experience share thing is so dumb. Just give us the option, please. I like to have control over how I level up my teams.
Single-use TMs are fine IF every TM is at least renewable this time around. The big issue with single use TMs in the past is that many TMs were limited to 1 per save file. This was a horrible feature and I at least hope that that aspect has been remedied. But with Pokemon games I always have my doubts!
@Zag_Man yeah it really is an ignorance is bliss kind of situation. I never knew about or noticed the slowdown until I played the NTSC version of SM64 on an emulator and realised how much better the game feels lol. I just cannot go back and play that game on my original PAL N64 anymore. But for other games where I've never experience the NTSC version, they still feel fine to me.
@YusseiWarrior3000 The extent of the microtransactions is really frustrating and damages my enjoyment of the game significantly so I don't think it can be oversaid.
@YusseiWarrior3000 When a Mario Kart doesn't have fun multiplayer particularly due to 2 lap nonsense and bad online rules, gives you the least control over your own vehicle due to the arbitrary auto-steer, has shoddy touch screen controls which will never be as reliable as a controller, and is actively trying to suck absurd amounts of money out of you, it's a really easy pick as the worst Mario Kart game. I honestly want to throw up when I see a single character, single car, plus some rubies to gamble with cost $60AUD. Disgusting.
As horrible as the micro-transactions, Gacha mechanics, and grindy nature of the game are, the remixed and retro tracks are pretty dang cool. It's nice seeing tracks like this and Sunset Wilds seeing the light as official retro re-releases for the first time, as well as being able to officially play classic tracks in reverse like I used to as a kid.
@Kumite I own an 8bitdo sn30+ pro, as others have recommended. It's really comfortable and the d-pad felt great, but after about 50 hours of use, if that, I've started to have the d-pad stick and feel less responsive during gameplay, which is a common problem from what I've heard. However, before I owned the 8bitdo, I used the joycon grip for Celeste and the directional buttons are perfectly accurate enough to be able to play the game well, it just gets uncomfortable after a while. Many people would recommend the Pokken controller, but I've passed on it because it doesn't have any joysticks, and in Celeste and Mario Maker I like to switch between d-pad and joystick.
@backup368 I hate this logic, that it's fans fault that there isn't a classic style Banjo game because they refused to buy Nuts and Bolts. It never makes sense when applied to any series. Why should the game we want be held hostage behind games we don't want? There's nothing wrong with branching out and experimenting, but the reason people hated Nuts and Bolts, Chibi Robo Zip Lash, modern Paper Mario, Metroid Prime Federation Force etc. is because the classic games we fell in love haven't seen the light of day in years or even decades, and instead we're being served stuff nobody asked for. Want fans to buy your games? Make the games your fans want.
@RhiannonRune yeah I believe it says how many blue coins you have when you hover over a stage, and there should be a option that says totals or something. I used it all the time.
As an Australian, this is the exact sort of thing I'm worried about. If we normalise cloud gaming as a standard option for game releases, it leaves many consumers out. Many games that could have become ports, downgraded or not, may just get cloud releases instead and it leaves us with nothing.
Anybody who doesn't think Odyssey is at the very least top 3 is cooked. That game is an absolute masterpiece. It's so nice to have a collect-a-thon Mario game again, especially one that hasn't aged like Mario 64, and designed much better than Sunshine. It's possible that I could see Galaxy 1 or 2 being a technically better game, but I definitely have a personal preference to the more open design of Odyssey.
@kepsux at any point where lakitu cam isn’t working, switch to mario cam and zoom out. Should help a lot in Tick Tock Clock and some other levels. Except for the igloo and pyramid, the camera is a disaster in those places no matter what lol.
Woohoo, 9/10! The only one I got wrong was the N64 product code because I just had no idea. I got a lucky guess on the SNES redesign, although I think "Satan" should have been an option.
I haven’t played this game since 2010, I really need to revisit it sometime. I don’t think I even got all of the green stars. It’s a lovely game though, however the Galaxy games don’t even compare to Odyssey in my mind.
Getting close to completing Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible lair, so will be playing clean-up with some of the remaining TWIT coins I missed. Also started Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the first time yesterday, so I’ll be continuing that too of course!
To my surprise, I’ve been having a lot fun with this game so far. My biggest gripe is with the controls but I love the remixed tracks, especially the backwards ones.
lmao I can't believe Nintendo sometimes. They fix battle mode (arenas!) and ruin it again (infinite lives!). It's just not as fun as the survival mode, Mario Kart Wii and 7 proved that. Mario Kart 64, Double Dash, and DS will always have the best battle mode I guess.
I loved the track selection in this game, not too sure where these criticisms are coming from. Piranha Plant Pipeway and Wario's Galleon will remain my favourites here. The greatest course of all time, Airship Fortress, is in here too. Koopa Troopa Beach is the only one I don't like because I feel like they kinda butchered it.
MK8 is still essentially a better version of this game though, but the awesome tracks are enough to justify me giving this a play every now and then.
@Rocky2418 I too like to continue attempting a level until I beat it, however I do know people who would rather just skip it after one or two failed attempts. :/
Went back and replayed this game and sadly wasn't as good as I remembered. It's still fun but the other NSMB games have really improved on it and created some much more enjoyable level design. I think NSMBU is the best of the lot... if only it didn't have 3 very similar games before it. :/
I actually think this game is really fun. You're being pretty unfair towards it, other than the tedious mini games there isn't all too much bad to say about it. The levels are fun to explore, the disguises are interesting, and the game has great music. It's no Wario Land but it's worth more than a 4. ._.
Can't understand the hate for Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes. We already have three single player focused Zelda games on 3DS, this is refreshing and quite frankly really fun looking. It's not "ruining" the franchise and it's hardly a "rip-off".
The new Metroid looks interesting but let's be honest, it's not Metroid. The Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi crossover also looks like a lot of fun, I'm not sure about whether I'll get it but I'll definitely consider it.
And here I was thinking I still had mine, not realising it got removed March last year. Shows how much I cared for it. We didn't even have Dinosaur Office in Australia, but after searching it on Youtube, it's trash anyway so I guess that's a good thing.
@CTs_Lieutenant I don't like EA or FIFA very much, but considering their popularity it probably actually is bad news for Nintendo to miss out on this. Although then again, the Wii U version would have been the laziest version missing roughly half the features, and then EA just would have gone on to complain about how their games don't sell on Nintendo platforms. Oh gee I wonder why.
@Kit Nah man, don't let one review throw you off. Read other reviews as well, or look up gameplay and decide from that. I have bought plenty of games which got meh reviews but ended up loving them. It's opinion.
Not talking about the review when I say this, but this game is probably the most underrated overhated game Nintendo has ever published. There are people who will go as ridiculously far to call it the worst Nintendo game of the 90's.
It has its flaws definitely but it's still an incredibly fun and immersing platformer.
