The stream issues with audio lag and freezing was the worst in Nintendo Direct history. They only showed five games that we didn’t know about before in the whole hour by my count (Mario Kart World, Wheelchair Basketball, Tech demo “game”, Air Ride, and DK). The reat of the show was wasting way too much time on game chat and games we already played before or third party games. They also could have had more info on preorder and pricing, but that would be too much negativity in the direct considering the price increase. I give it a 5 because of all those negatives, but the games shown did look fun.
The service is getting new stuff fairly often it seems so far. I hope for a couple of updates to the service itself, but overall, I'm happy with Nintendo Music. Eagerly awaiting Xenoblade being added though.
It's finally happening! It is the only Xenoblade game that I haven't beaten yet, so I'm happy I could start fresh on Switch with the online components back on.
@xenobladexfan No it just means Xenogears was not made by Monolith Soft. Xenogears was made by Squaresoft and predates Monolith Soft. Many developers left Square after the release of Xenogears to create Monolith Soft.
When Microsoft bought Double Fine, I thought they would be a good studio for another Banjo Kazooie game. Toys for Bob and or Vicarious Visions could do remakes or maybe a new game too.
I think we should pass a law that says all GotY award shows should be held in January so that the entire year could be evaluated before handing out awards. I am assuming that Spider Man came out too late to be evaluated for these awards, so I think that it’s funny that Final Fantasy XVI was really the only other big Playstation game this year, and it was so bad that it lost to a multiplat. As for TotK, I played a little bit, but I found traversing Hyrule to be boring. Once I got to the destination it was fun, but the journey there wasn’t. I don’t have any interest in BG3, so I can’t comment on it. The Xbox award definitely should have went to HiFi Rush. That game is fantastic!
I think Illumination should make a movie about a balding guy that goes on adventures and has a bunch of little, colorful creatures that follow him. In that way, Pikmin is already like Despicable Me and I think Illumination could do a good job with it. I’m imagining Castaway but animated and aimed for kids and instead of Wilson we have the Pikmin. They could even cast Tom Hanks as Captain Olimar!
The resurgence of Level 5 during the direct was the best surprise. Decapolice looks like an interesting new ip and Professor Layton making a return made me so happy. I never played Fantasy Life, but I did buy it and now I might just try it out before they release the new one.
I had my copy pre-ordered from gamestop awhile ago. I hope they honor the $60. The extra $10 doesn't seem justified at all. It didn't seem justified when Sony did it, it didn't seem justified when Microsoft did it, and now it still isn't justified when Nintendo does it.
This actually works out for me. If I remember correctly, it was coming out the same day as Kirby and Octopath which I do want to play all three. It also gives me a month to make more progress on beating Ryza 2.
I see people complaining about the price, but I think it is fine considering it’s the same price the bundle costs on steam. What I will complain about is how Square Enix decides to announce a limited release in the middle of the night and even if I were awake and able to get one, they still feel the need to charge $23 for shipping making the price more than it would be to just buy them all individually.
I tried preordering Neo:TWEWY when that was coming out and I saw that preorders weren’t available anywhere except ghe SE store. When I tried to buy from them, I saw they charged that much for shipping and I decided that I would wait to buy the game elsewhere. I don’t know why SE would do that and make it less appealing to buy their products directly from them.
I’m keeping my preorder. The voice from the trailers doesn’t sound different to me at all so I’m not bothered by the change. From what I’ve heard, she was offered what is a pretty standard rate. While I do appreciate the work she put in to bringing the character to life, there are many character designers, mocap actors, and even other voice actors for different languages that all put in the work to bring the character to life and deserve to have their work supported.
I hope the Off the Hook amiibo gets restocked in the us soon. I have the Squid Sisters, but I somehow missed them. It would be nice to have all the idol group amiibo.
I started playing the game back when it was announced it would be shutting down and I beat the story about a week after the final chapter released. It was pretty fun and the story and characters were good too. I do hope the ip could live on in some form in the future, but I have my doubts.
I don’t know how people could complain that the combat in this game is too complex. Most of the combat system can essentially be broken down into “wait for thing to charge and then use thing.” For boss battles you might have to be more precise in the timing of your uses of the different things that get charged, even then it isn’t too difficult. If you are low on hp, spam whatever healing arts you have. If you or your ai starts a combo, try to continue it. The order of the combo isn’t all that complex either since it isn’t that long. The only thing that can get a little complex is the chain attack, but the game does allow you to replay that tutorial until it is understood.
The expansion pass is the exact same way as the one for Xenoblade 2. Xenoblade 2 advertised Torna similarly as new story content. The new hero character and quests will be the exact same as the new rare blades and quests of 2. They are side content that have no bearing on the main scenario. Either people don’t know about 2’s pass, forgetful about it’s content, or feel like being malicious towards Nintendo and Monolith for whatever reason. There is an argument to be made against announcing this stuff before the game launches, but I like knowing that I’ll have reasons to cone back to the game. Anyone acting like the main story will not be done at launch are going to be incorrect.
I started playing the game again after years of not playing after they announced it was shutting down. I had only beaten the first two chapters, so I’ve been doing my best to beat the rest of the game before it shuts down. I’ve made it to chapter 20 and I’ve been having a lot of fun.
I hope games start to learn how to do battle passes from Halo Infinite. You buy it and it is forever yours to level up at your own pace even if it isn’t the battle pass from the current season. If you have multiple passes, then you could choose which one you want to level up.
I’m not a big fan of Sonic or anything, but I’m still somewhat interested in this game. However, saying the fans don’t like it because they don’t understand it doesn’t sound good. If they are that confident in their game and think the fans will like it when they understand it, then they should release a demo that is open to everyone that wants to try it. That’s the best way of clearing up any misunderstandings.
I’m 20 levels away from completing the battle pass. It’s become a bit of a grind at these later levels, but I’m still having a lot of fun. I am glad that they extended the season so I don’t have to grind that hard anymore.
I didn’t think I would buy this game again, but buying it again gives me an excuse to fo back and experience the story one more time. I really enjoyed my first playthrough.
I have come across a few of these issues while playing, so it is good that they are supposedly fixed. I’m having a lot of fun playing this game otherwise.
This is most likely Street Fighter VI since the countdown ends at the same time Capcom’s replacement for Capcom Cup is supposed to end. I’m 99% sure it isn’t coming to Switch, but I am hoping it comes to Xbox this time.
I hope Halo Infinite starts a trend of battle passes never going away and choosing which battle pass you make progress on. It’s frustrating to see content being locked away forever because you didn’t buy the game at launch or didn’t put a bunch of hours into the game in a relatively small period of time.
I’m nearly done with the game since I’m on week 3 day 5. I enjoyed it a lot and would love to see a sequel, but unless it ends on a big cliffhanger I don’t think it needs one. The game just needs more people to play it.
I enjoyed final remix and what I have played of neo (I just finished the second week). I’d like to at least see a third game for a somewhat silly reason. Neku was designed with headphones covering his ears and Rindo was designed with a mask on his face which relates to both of their character arcs. If they make a third game, I think they would design the main character to always wear sunglasses and I want to see if I’m right lol.
My game of the year is probably metroid dread. That could easily change because there are a lot of good games that I have yet to beat. I hope to beat new pokemon snap, bravely default 2, and neo the world ends with you before the end of the year and I could see any one of those games taking the top spot. I wish I had more time to play games like SMTV and no more heroes 3, but I just don't. Mario 3d world is one of my favorite games of all time, but it is a port of an older game so I don't want to call it game of the year.
I made my own game awards awards if anyone is interested
Best award winner- Metroid Dread Action Game Worst award winner- GotG Narrative Best announcement- P4AU on switch Worst announcement- FF7R still not on xbox and exclusive to epic games Best surprise- Wonder Woman Worst surprise- No new Nintendo announcements Biggest snub- NEO The World Ends With You best soundtrack and narrative Best trailer- Suicide Squad for actually showing interesting gameplay Worst trailer- all of them that didn’t include gameplay
The most disappointing thing about the show was that in the “biggest night in gaming” the big final announcement was a showcase of a movie trailer presented by big movie actors. I thought this was the game awards.
@Specter_of-the_OLED you must not have watched previous game awards then. Nintendo always has something to announce. The past few years they announced smash dlc characters. Game looks interesting. I hope it turns out well. I probably am going to get it on xbox since it will look and run better, but I’m glad it is coming to switch
Off topic, but did Nintendo just go the entire game awards without any new announcements? Kinda lame.

Re: Nintendo's Xenoblade Chronicles Dev Monolith Soft Is Now 25 Years Old
@xenobladexfan I agree 100%. Square Enix is trying to merchandise the brand without actually porting the game to modern consoles which is annoying.

Best award winner- Metroid Dread Action Game

Best announcement- P4AU on switch
Worst announcement- FF7R still not on xbox
and exclusive to epic games
Best surprise- Wonder Woman
Worst surprise- No new Nintendo
announcements
Biggest snub- NEO The World Ends With You
best soundtrack and narrative
Best trailer- Suicide Squad for actually showing
interesting gameplay
Worst trailer- all of them that didn’t include
