Square Enix's racer Chocobo GP hasn't had the smoothest launch, and it seems the game is still experiencing some bugs during online play. To resolve these issues the development team has now released a new update.
In the same patch, it's also mentioned how the team will continue to update the game to improve the overall experience. Below are the full patch notes for Version 1.0.4, courtesy of the Square Enix support page:

- Examples:
・ Number of laps becomes corrupted.
・ Character clears the goal unexpectedly.

I'm sorry Square, I think you missed the patch note where you removed microtransactions in your premium game.
.......
What do you mean that wasn't included in the patch?!
From what I've seen of the game, it just looks really cheap, like they skimped out on things as basic as "turning". Whenever I watch somebody play if they aren't drifting they tend to twitch back and forth because of the controls.
If the Microtransactions are still there then I don't care. I'm playing the Mario Kart 8 DLC anyway. They screwed up and I don't think this game can be saved now in all honesty.
@Braneman It is cheap. It's almost like playing a Mobile game only this time you payed full Retail Price for it.
It's a shame that the online marketplace ruined the game. It actually is pretty fun. The grind to unlock things though... 9,000 gold coins to unlock a vehicle single vehicle. With how little you earn from daily challenges, you are required to buy the premium season pass to have just a chance of getting everything. Even then, you will be grinding and grinding.
first the cloud versions of kingdom hearts trilogy and now this mess seriously its like they re screwing the switch base more often then any other console versions
I don’t mind the micro transactions for some things, like new characters, or color changes. But the fact that you basically need to micro transact AND grind to get things seems unacceptable…of course, this shouldn’t be a surprise from SE. Remember, they told us we shouldn’t expect their games to be fun.
I like the gameplay…and wish I could just play more single player…though I’m not even half way to unlocking Cloud….
This is why I hate the mobile game-style grind in games like this. Especially if they have a daily login mechanic which subconsciously punishes you for daring to miss even a single day. Games like this start feeling like a job and turning on the game feels like you're clocking in for another day of work. It's just not fun and I can't understand why people enjoy games like this.
Did they patch a near full price game being microstransaction heck?
This greedy load of crap? Lol
Waiting on a severe price drop.
Yeah this game is screwed.
Every time I see the "download it now" subtitle on the main page I can't help but internally scream "STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO, MOM!"
No but really, this game ain't landing on my Switch that's fer shure.
I have come across a few of these issues while playing, so it is good that they are supposedly fixed. I’m having a lot of fun playing this game otherwise.
So 1. Why would you release a game with planned obsolescence in mind which would occur around 4 to 5 months?
And 2. Why play that you are acknowledging fans but not actually make changes that were asked for?
And also just wow these bug fixes are embarrassing. How do you release a racing game that doesn’t get the fundamentals right? Just stay out of Mario karts way. Don’t even try when this is the game ur bringing.
@Johnnel I know! after a couple days playing the handling feels good, although I still need to optimize some lines in tight turns. So far so good
@mattesdude there's no point on holding the stickers if you have them, try using them right away. If you manage to get a decent group using the same sticker + get to semi/finals you will be easily be going 1-2 levels per GP!
I downloaded the demo and was allowed to play the training mode and the prologue race of single player and that was all.
I laughed, deleted it, then got back to Disco Elysium.
@Nameless_Shame Huh, that sounds terrible! I was just downloading it now out of curiosity. Thanks for saving me some bandwidth!
@Kintypoo121 100%, brother. If you still wanted to support S-E for their GOOD games, Live-A-Live is coming out soon, and it looks dope af.
Still really annoyed about the Nlife review that persuaded me to buy this garbage
@Nameless_Shame Indeed, for every great SE game released, they seem to want to balance it out with a load of bad releases
Live-A-Live does look good, and I’m enjoying the FFVII:R quite a bit too on PC. Still a fan of the company, but choose to wait for reviews before buying from them these days.
Free 2 play, micro transactions, and now a lot of bugs. Ouch... 😣
@Anti-Matter
Except that it's NOT Free 2 Play, though it probably SHOULD be.
I’ll consider the complete version after they’ve stopped milking new characters.
This just makes me appreciate Pokemon Masters EX a lot more. I'm more likely to give them money for the possibility of a decent sync pair than to this disappointment of a game.
Until microtransactions are removed, don't bother buying this.
If they are selling a fully priced retail game, they should not also get gallons of microtransactions
@Drac_Mazoku right on! Yeah the mtx system can be shady and it's ok to not like it, but what you really get spending money on mythril are cosmetics and if you don't want to grind the Prize Pass, well you can buy levels. In fact I think there's a lack of content you can buy with the premium currency!
My only complain with the game though... why there's no 4-player simultaneously? Oh well.
Not much of a FF fan but man I'm enjoying this game a lot. Nice driving mechanics, the magicite & abilities systems adds more depth than one might think and there's plenty of tech that is still being discovered like drift-cancel.
Sad this game gets much misinformed hate but that's the way the internet works I guess...
"1. Fixed an issue where the game stops progressing at the rankings screen at the end of a race and while matchmaking for the next race."
Except that happened to me in my very first ChocoGP after the first race after this patch.
Game's got growing pains ~
I have it and played it, its fun for what it is but man this could have been so much more. This could have been Square's baby if they handled it right. They honestly should have just made it free to play from the get go then there wouldn't be so much backlash. And instead of just focusing on FF they could have used all of their IPs including DQ, Lara Croft, Live-A-Live, Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default, etc but oh well
