Re: Nintendo Switch Version 5.0.2 Is Now Live

Jasspur

It's highly unlikely that Nintendo will implement a web browser or support for third-party peripherals. That would destroy all the stability Nintendo has worked so hard to achieve. Basically, it becomes more open-ended to hacks like a PC.

Re: Editorial: Mandatory Memory Cards for Switch Retail Games is a Messy Solution

Jasspur

This isn't really an issue compared to in-game purchases or subscription based games. Had the memory been included in the Switch, it would have been heavy and expensive. This is part of it's modular design that allows us to choose how much memory we need instead of forcing it in the package. I see this as us having more control over our product.

Re: Poll: 99 Games and Counting - Are You Pleased With the Switch eShop Library?

Jasspur

I'm loving the fact that we get a AAA Nintendo title about every month. Nintendo games are on an entirely different level than third-party titles or other system exclusives considering other system exclusives are really just third-party titles. Being made for Nintendo by Nintendo couldn't be better. Now let's keep this going and move in the old titles like Super Mario RPG. Perhaps they could talk about resurrecting Suikoden. That is how you win a console war really quickly.

Re: ARMS Balance Update Is Coming Next Week

Jasspur

I've came in with the highest score at every online game so far, but my 12 year old niece picks Ninjara and destroys me with teleports and grabs. I've noticed his grab looks like it's 14 feet wide at times when I fight him in single player.

Re: Guide: How To Invite Friends And Use Voice Chat On The Nintendo Switch Online App

Jasspur

This is one of the silliest concepts I've seen in a long time. I love the Switch and hope to goodness they don't ruin it. I've never owned a cell phone, and don't plan to. I find texting pointless, and I don't want to talk to anyone while I'm doing things. This app just creates an extra layer of steps that I would have to use a clarpy tablet to win a match, because everyone else has an organized team.

Re: Nintendo Switch Hackers Claim to Have Made Key First Step

Jasspur

Why in the world can't anyone just leave things the way they're meant to be. If a hacker wants to do something write something from scratch in C++, Java, C#, Visual Basic, HTML and PHP. We have Unreal 4, Blender, Ogre, and many more all for free or a very small royalty with no cash upfront.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

Jasspur

All I want on Nintendo are Nintendo games. I could honestly care less about third party games unless it's IntiCreates. I play Third-party games on PC so it guarantees the definitive editions. Nintendo games are better than anything when they come. Even those third-party games that look amazing usually aren't that fun for me, or don't have any RPG/Story mechanics to keep me hooked for long.

Re: Rumour: Leaked Switch SDK Hints At Save Data Transfer And Guest Logins

Jasspur

I would much prefer having my save data on my SD card as to having it in a cloud. The cloud is great, but you can never tell what may happen to servers you don't own. At the same time, I hope the security on that save data is very tight. I don't want to see hacked saves, but I think that is what all that stability is for.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Switch is About Colour, Fun and Sharing Games, For Those Unsure of Its Purpose

Jasspur

I'll tell you why the Nintendo Switch is my favorite console right off the bat. The games generally don't look overly realistic and depression inducing. I have seen so many shooters and games that focus on the dark side of everything that it is wonderful to see a sunshiny, happy, progressive, story-driven load of RPGs with co-cop and online play. When you use a lot of horsepower in a console, the games are always pushed to be so realistic they all wind up looking the same. We need to remember that games are an art; not a duty to replicate the real life that we want to get away from so badly. Nintendo was one of the first to have stories in a game; a vital aspect, and they Switch games so far have the smoothest online play I have ever encountered.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo at E3 2017?

Jasspur

It's hard to say there is any excitement beyond Mario Odyssey, because we have been talking of Splatoon and Arms for a long time. If they focus on these two games for E3 I think it could be a bit of a disappointment. I hope a shock us with tons of AAA Nintendo titles we have no clue about. I need something with a grind to it.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Pokémon Direct and Its Big Reveals?

Jasspur

I would call this moderately interesting, but this isn't something that is a long lasting game or integrates story. Leveling up is great, but there are no new skills to achieve or places to go. I think E3 needs to be much bigger than this. I figure there will be a Smash Bros DX, but I don't think they should even mention Splatoon or Arms at E3. There is already plenty of news about those.

Re: Nintendo's Online Service For Switch Will Offer "Ongoing Access" To Classic Games

Jasspur

It is sad that we miss what Nintendo used to be so much that we are convincing ourselves that losing the last free online console left and getting rental games without the option to buy is ok. I am guilty of doing the same thing. It's like the acceptance stage of death because we have no choice. I've been through grief and denial already. Twenty bucks isn't a big deal, but no owning the games doesn't give a sense of accomplishment and I doubt $20 will stay the same long.

Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service

Jasspur

I love the console, but if I can't own the classic games I can't continue to own a Switch.

1. It makes me feel like game progression is pointless.
2. This is a mobile device, so if I leave the router I will have no access to the server these games are on. Similarly, I use cheap phone service, and have no need for a fee like 4g if they would integrate that.
3. Streaming is detrimental to game quality; sometimes even unplayable due to connections.

Please listen to the customers Nintendo. You're the last different option out there in the console world.

Re: Blaster Master Zero Has Been Downloaded 80,000 Times On Switch

Jasspur

I played this game when I was very small and thought I was the only person who even knew what it was before the internet came about. I play this as much as Mario Kart 8 & Zelda, and I usually won't touch anything that feels 8-bit. It seems the rest of the world just found this game if they didn't back in the early 90's.

Re: Talking Point: PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio Draw Battle Lines, But Nintendo Goes Its Own Way With Switch

Jasspur

If we based all of the consoles on power, there would be no reason to own anything but a PC. The key things that consoles offer are unique features, anti-hacking measures, and exclusives. I think Nintendo easily takes all three of those categories since they're the only console not focused on being a PC. We have a touch screen, modular controls, portability, just enough power to push to a resolution where things begin to become indistinguishable, etc for features.

When it comes to exclusives, we have some of the best ever made. There are many years since the 80's where Nintendo made exclusives that can be vamped up today, so there is the potential for 100's of 1000's of exclusive games that actually use these features. For instance, Wii and Switch actually push for the use of motion controls, very little PS4 and Xbox games utilize these features even though it makes aiming as superior as a PC mouse. Once I played with the gyro in the Steam controller and Wii U gamepad, I couldn't bear going back to the dualshock or xbox controller.

Re: 3DS System Version 11.2.0-35 is Now Live

Jasspur

@Firebird360 If this has a touchscreen, it could possibly emulate both screens on a single screen. I can't see Nintendo throwing away a library as huge as the 3ds or the virtual console. There is such a small handful of Wii U games, I believe they could all be ported, so I have high hopes for the future.

Re: Talking Point: The Pros and Cons of Nintendo's NX Secrecy

Jasspur

My biggest concern over the lack of info is unknown backwards-compatibility. I've got quite a few games stored on an external hard drive that has an average lifespan of 4 years, and I would really like to know they're safe. I'm not even sure if I should be buying anything from the Eshop since everything there could be short lived. Lastly, is Xenoblade Chronicles X's servers going to shutdown, because the game won't have many players if it isn't ported?
