Re: Former Nintendo Of America President Reggie To Step Down From GameStop's Board Of Directors

Jacadamia

I think it’s easy to see this as spelling doom and gloom for gamestop (i agree they’re not doing too hot) but we don’t fully know what Reggie’s plans really are. The gamestop board position kinda came out of nowhere so i wouldnt be surprised if he just has plans to jump around, help some companies out, and then move on to the the next thing. If he stays in his other positions for a longer time, then yeah gamestop’s history lol.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Downloaded 20 Million Times On Release Day

Jacadamia

The cynic in me is worried nintendo might one day feel like spending so much time and money on great console games is pointless when they can make an exponentially higher profit off of gacha-type mobile games that take significantly less work to create.

On the other hand, the game's pretty fun! And I feel like Nintendo isn't so shortsighted that they'd bail on what makes them so loved.

They're at their best when they put making experiences before making money

Re: Takashi Iizuka Believes The Blue Blur Has "Turned A Corner" Following The Release Of Sonic Mania

Jacadamia

I'm not buying it. The fact that Forces was basically just Sonic Generations: bad edition, really doesn't give me much hope at all.

Unless Sega has some great, fully-realized, and handled with professional polish game in the pipeline, I don't really see what Sonic Mania has changed besides making us all certain that sonic was waay better before 3D and showing that sonic team has no idea what they're doing anymore :0

Re: Talking Point: We Shouldn't Saddle Labo VR With Unrealistic Expectations

Jacadamia

Duh? Labo VR is not in any form nintendo embracing VR gaming as the next thing. It's just a little side-venture, as much as Labo itself is. I would be genuinely surprised if we saw any support outside of what will be included in the box. The most feasible thing I could see happening MAYBE, is them allowing VR support for youtube or something.

If Nintendo actually wanted to do VR now, they would make an actual headset and really push it. This is probably the best we'll get with the switch. Because although it can kind of work with VR like we see here, it wasn't really made for that intention at all. Case in point, if it was, there would likely be motion controls in the system itself and not just the joy-con :0

Re: Guide: 7 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do With Nintendo Switch Online

Jacadamia

Nope still not convinced. I’m gonna hold off for a while.

And why hasn’t nintendo even revealed the “special offers”? If that’s a selling point it makes no sense to not tell us if they’re trying to convince people to buy into their service.

I bet Ninty is purposely waiting to reveal the special offers so they can adjust whatever it is to try and entice more people to join. If tons of people join now, then they won’t have to try hard with the offers. If they don’t get a good amount of subs they’ll likely be more inclined to make the offers more worthwhile or maybe even improve the service.

Re: Team Cherry Changes Title Of Final Hollow Knight Content Pack Due To Name Clash

Jacadamia

Personally I loved Hollow Knight like crazy. The art, atmosphere, and gameplay kept me hooked the whole way through.

finding new areas always gave me a rush and i never felt like it was toooo difficult. I went into hollow knight having 100 percented metroid fusion and beating all the c-sides in Celeste so the exploration, trekking and difficulty never really bothered me. Honestly the Soul Sanctum was one of my favourite parts of the game since I loved how foreboding it felt and the difficulty took me back to being younger and worse at games in general. Getting through it was so gratifying and probably one of my favorite moments in a game in a long time.

If i ever got stuck (which happened a few times) i would just comb over the map and look for areas I hadnt been to yet that seemed to lead somewhere. I can see how that could be aggravating for some people though (especially when you travel all the way somewhere and find a roadblock you cant get past yet). But I loved the world so much I still had fun with those parts.

I definitely recommend Hollow Knight and can’t wait for more dlc (i havent even beaten the current dlc stuff yet haha)

Re: Site News: Switch It Up With Our Readership Survey

Jacadamia

@Blizzia cool, thanks for seeing my point. I’m actually not 100% sure what non-binary means, but doesnt it basically boil down to being ‘not 100% one or the other’? I think it’s basically just a more specific way of saying ‘other’

Re: Site News: Switch It Up With Our Readership Survey

Jacadamia

@Ryu_Niiyama I think it's just baffling how big of a deal people let it be (enough to make you completely stop taking a survey??) I saw the option and didn't give two hoots about it besides an "oh okay."

I've been on both sides of the fence when it comes to this kind of thing and know some people personally who have been through a lot.

It doesn't need to be a big deal, and seeing a bunch of people so offput by a choice so as to not take a survey they planned to in the first place really just struck me as surprising.

Yeah it's not the point of the article, but that's my point.
It wasn't the point of the survey either, so why let it stop you from taking it if you were going to?

(but then again here I am "arguing" on the internet, that's not gonna accomplish anything)

Re: Site News: Switch It Up With Our Readership Survey

Jacadamia

@JHDK Come on. There's a difference between people who flip out over pronouns and people who genuinely feel mislabeled.

While I personally don't think I need some special label, and don't entirely understand where people who do are coming from, I'm not going to mock those who respectfully ask to be called a certain thing.

The world's not black and white, and it's stupid to make this a bigger deal than it is.

Re: My Hero Academia: One's Justice Gets New Name And Some Juicy New Details

Jacadamia

@Heavyarms55 i feel like the show is pretty aware that a few of the “heroes” don’t really act like it (just look at Stain’s motives and how they acknowledge he is sort of right). I’ve only watched the anime so far with my college buds (we love it) and I feel like they’ll definitely give some nice character development and address that stuff eventually if not soon.

Re: Feature: A Kirby Retrospective: From Game Boy To Nintendo Switch

Jacadamia

The games always start off crazy easy because it's not about difficulty. For me I just personally love the music, cool themes and chill times Kirby brings to the table. Plus most games have an original villain/final boss and I love seeing what HAL can cook up next. They are surprisingly really good at coming up with legitimately sad backstories that you can only find via playing through the game's harder modes (true arena, EX mode, meta-knightmaer, etc.). The game's are easy, but there are a lot of things to catch your interest if you like depth.

PS- Planet Robobot's True Arena was brutal. Actually. It took me upwards of 15 tries to reach the secret final boss, only to lose and have to try a bunch more. Wicked challenging and fun.

Re: Soapbox: The Super Mario Movie Might Not Be All That Great

Jacadamia

I liked Despicable Me, the first one. I went to see Sing last year though, expecting at least a good time and JEEZ! It was one of the worst movies I've seen. Absolutely the epitome of the film expecting you to care but being incredibly lazy at actually making you care. Not to mention the tired concept, unoriginal jokes (the pig was basically the three little pigs from Shrek) and boring story. It actually felt like it dragged on forever and my friend and I both wanted to leave halfway through. We didn't, but I kind of wish I had.

Re: Microsoft Wants To Reach Gamers On Rival Systems, Says Xbox Chief Phil Spencer

Jacadamia

While this sounds really cool for gamers, it also sounds really... stupid(?) for microsoft. If they did this they'd be removing a LOT of incentive to buy their console at all. And why use xbox live on a windows pc when I can just use Steam? I don't know it kind of seems like they're grasping at straws. I feel like they'd be better off just trying to come up with more system sellers, but who knows, maybe this is a good idea?
