Re: Nintendo's Direct "Dominated" E3 2021, Peaking At 3.1 Million Viewers

While I’m disappointed by this Direct, I’m so excited by the number of people who have gotten into Switch in the last few years. I have friends who swore never to buy a Nintendo product who are gaming on their Switch multiple times a week. I hope Nintendo finds a way to stay with them and bring them along as fans, rather than dumping them like the Wii -> Wii U transition.

Easily the worst E3 showing since 2015… maybe longer. Not a single AAA game releasing this year (or the second half of last year for that matter).

That said, Advance Wars is dope (I’m so happy the series is still alive, even if it’s a remastered port), and I’ll check out the Metroid game.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Backing Down On Its Decision To Pull Mario Products From Stores This Month

Good riddance to 3D All Stars as far as I’m concerned. There’s a reason they’re putting an expiry date on it: it’s an inferior product that’s essentially just a low quality ROM dump. They know this, so they want to appeal to people’s FOMO so they’ll buy it anyway.

The fact that a single developer sitting in their basement can do a 10x better job remastering Mario 64 than Nintendo itself says everything you need to know. The money grab here is absolutely shameless.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Are The Chances We'll See A 'New' Nintendo Switch In 2021?

I believe this will happen for no reason other than Nintendo seems to be holding all new releases until further notice. The only major brand new AAA games we’ve gotten in the last 10 months are Animal Crossing and Mario Kart Live. Clearly they’re holding back a lot of new releases for something. Personally, I think it’s a bit of a slap in the face to fans to intentionally delay releases, but I lived through the Wii U era so nothing will surprise me.

Re: Nintendo Dominates Amazon's Best-Selling Games List For 2020

It’s sad — the only first party original game from 2020 on the list is Animal Crossing. Everything else is a port, released a different year, or third party. I really hope 2021 has more originals coming, although I fear Nintendo is holding them all back to release on the new Switch variant. Honestly, I’m very disappointed with Nintendo’s output of games in 2020 it was worse than the Wii U days in many ways.

@KnightsTemplar Just because something sells well, doesn’t make it amazing. Look, I’m a huge Mario fan — these are amazing games, but this isn’t an amazing product. It’s a lazy, sloppy product. They took some old ROMs and dumped them all into a cartridge.

I’m not saying Nintendo shouldn’t sell old games, just that they should be serving fans, not soaking them for more money. Wouldn’t you much rather have the same collection of games remastered with better visuals, all in widescreen, and with better basic controls like a fixed camera in M64? I would, and I don’t see how that opinion is anything but good for fans.

Re: Video: That Super Mario Direct Was Lovely, If A Tad Predictable

The lack of effort on 64 is perhaps the biggest disappointment for me as Nintendo fan for decades. Honestly, the game needs a full remake. That said, it would’ve been passable if they had fixed the camera, added wide screen, and used the DS version at least. But they didn’t even do that... Really disappointing....
