@Poodlestargenerica "Yes, all of those are better. The Wii U has a better Mario Kart,"
Then why is MKWii so much more popular with hardcore enthusiasts? "a better Smash"
Ok. "two better zeldas"
Two of them are the same Zeldas available on GCN and Wii, just with more pixels. I take it playing Super Mario Bros on Switch instead of NES is way "better" too, right? "a better New Super Mario"
We just had a 2D Mario ranked article a couple days ago and Wii was the top ranked entry in the New series. And many in the comments agreed. Given its a popular choice among modders too tells me they agree too. Might wanna consult NL editors about that in case you know something we don't. "3d land and galaxy are a wash, though galaxy without motion is probably better."
The controls are pretty essential to Galaxy's game design, so I doubt that. There's a reason you still must use them in 3D All-Stars.
So you go on to list a last-gen port & exclusive in the same series, a sequel to a seminal Wii game, another last-gen port, yet another last-gen port, a level editor, a 3rd-person shooter, a sequel to Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, a sequel to DKCR on Wii, a sequel to Sonic All-Stars Racing on Wii, a sequel to Rayman Origins on Wii, and 'way more'. I really don't see what's so special about this list. Looks like a watered down selection of what was on Wii. Everything here has a pretty good equivalent on it's predecessor and then some.
"Everyone hates star fox zero, but I think it's actually good."
"The wii U has a small but underrated library, much better than the wii's. If you actually haven't played these games, I would strongly suggest buying a cheap used wii u, no one wants them and they are great"
Its not underrated. Its actually pretty appropriately rated tbh. I own a Wii U myself, so you can save me the out-of-date sponsorship. My Wii U library, digital releases included, is half the size of my Wii collection, which according to metacritic isn't too far from expected anyway.
@Poodlestargenerica Every nintendo platform has had multiple IP installments fluffing up the catalogue. This isn't new. And slightly downgraded ports are a given. The Switch is the king of this.
"Also it's metacritic, they collate data from reviews from the literal time these games were released."
I understand you're disappointed that those games are good, but the quality of a video game doesn't change because of time.
"Every other major Nintendo system has had a better library than the wii."
Uh-huh... Does this include the N64 where Nintendo couldn't even scrape together more than 21 decent games to represent it for their VC service? The GCN catalogue with stripped-down ps2 ports comprising half? Or what about the Wii U literally having a selection so small you can fit it all on one shelf?
Certainly the Switch and SNES, I have no arguments there. But the former merges the handheld line with their big-budget console projects, and the latter benefited from an industry monopoly.
Ever since Nintendo went 3D it hasn't exactly been an achievement to best their home consoles in good game quantity.
@Poodlestargenerica 10? More like 200+ good games. Dozens of classics too.
Edit: In all honesty, its not far fetched for a handheld with multiple systems-per-household to overtake a 1 system-per-household home console. Library aside.
I still the fact that what a series once thought to be niche has now become a major franchise with only 3 installments thanks to fan support. This bodes well.
@sdelfin Bizarre considering Nintendo stated that the Classic Controller was made for multiplats, as well as older titles. They even showed a demo reel before the Wii released of a varient of the classic controller being used in Wii Sports. I wonder why they rolled back support so drastically over such a short timespan?
@gamer89 Where in my post above yours did I mention ratchet? That's not the only game Insomniac makes, you know that right? Insomniac could have made games for Nintendo before the buy out, now they cannot. Even if Ratchet weren't Sony owned, they couldn't make it any other platform now.
Far Cry: Vengeance had nothing to do with the Wii's hardware. That game was an unnecessary ground-up remake of a Far Cry title from the Original Xbox. A game that would've been better served with a quick 'n dirty port instead of that monstrosity of a tailored "remake".
"However, despite having a reputation for hosting the finest of the genre, none of Nintendo’s platforms have hosted the breadth of 3D platformers we saw back during the genre’s N64 heyday."
One of Nintendo's lazier efforts. This console was so disappointing. Even after I sold off my shovelware, my Wii library is still over twice the size of the selection I had any interest in on the Wii U.

@Lindhardt Guess that explains all the stability updates.
Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Wii Games
50 games and no Mario Strikers Charged, Cave Story, de Blob, Epic Mickey, what?
And MKWii should be way higher considering it helped popularize online racing.
Re: Spooky 3D Platformer Pumpkin Jack Will Haunt Nintendo Switch This Halloween
@MEGAMAN_D There were barely any platformers on the GC.

@RadioHedgeFund Don't forget that the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii ushered in the online gaming revolution.
Re: Super Mario 3D World On Switch Appears To Be A Lot Faster Than The Wii U Original
@estaate You can already play that game on Wii without motion controls.

Re: Metacritic Reveals The 50 Best-Reviewed Games Of The Decade, Nintendo Takes Top Two Places
Xenoblade Chronicles at only #41 is a crime.
FYI. Mario Galaxy 1 isn't included because it wasn't released this decade.
Re: Reggie: Nintendo's Diagnosis Of The Industry Before Wii Was "Too Much Complexity, Too Many Sequels"
@sdelfin "as I've heard, Nintendo did not allow developers to use the Classic Controller in normal releases at that time."
Elaborate please. I was under the impression that Nintendo made the Classic Controller specifically for those types of games.

Re: The Most Popular Switch Lite Colour Is Turquoise, According To Nintendo
I was tempted to get blue as well but ended up getting grey because I wanted to play it on the buss without people noticing I wasn't using a tablet.
Re: Review: Spyro Reignited Trilogy - A Blast From The Past That's Still Got Wings
@gamer95 I implied that it would never happen now that Sony owns Insomniac. Insomniac cannot make any games for Nintendo. Period.
Re: Review: Spyro Reignited Trilogy - A Blast From The Past That's Still Got Wings
@gamer95 Which is what I said

@XAHydra Not with the Sony buy out they won't, unfortunately.

I'm glad the remake turned out well.
Doesn't sound like Stewart Copeland's soundtrack was done much justice tho. Thankful that they offer both versions of the score.

People still actually play this game with the motion controls? I've been using the classic controller cheat since 2011.

Still bummed that the 3DS didn't get a proper 3D Mario game. Daxter on PSP was way better than what we got.

Re: Review: de Blob 2 (Switch)
I LOVE the 2nd game. It's actually made it into in my top ten 3d platformers.
Re: Random: THQ Announces Let's Sing 2019 For Nintendo Wii
Good job THQ! No new Darksiders and no new De Blob.
Re: Parent Trap: I Really Miss The Nintendo Wii
@Gamer83 It could just be because of all the grey shooters on the HD twins. But I loved the Wii probably the most that gen.
The genre variety was huge and healthy on the system, even Point n Click and 3D platformers(my fav genre) were well represented.
Re: Parent Trap: I Really Miss The Nintendo Wii
Don't care about the waggle. Just get a pro controller, then the Wii becomes the goat Nintendo console.
Re: Random: One Episode Of The Pokémon Anime Has Been 'Banned' From Airing In The West
Probably a marketing stunt because few people watch this show anymore.
Re: Review: de Blob (Switch)
@Alexface 960K according to vgchartz.
I still cannot understand why they don't bundle both games together? They're too old to be sold at that price point.
