Gaming accessory maker PDP has released a brand new controller for the Nintendo Switch, ideal for those who want head outside with something a little more substantial than a Joy-Con
This little wireless controller is rather literally called the 'Little Wireless Controller', boasting a wireless connection with a range of up to 30 feet and a 40-hour battery life. It has motion control support, is officially licensed by Nintendo, and can be squeezed into your pocket if you want to take it out and about.
Features
- Compact companion for on-the-go gaming
- Wireless connectivity and a 40-hour rechargeable battery for longer playtime
- Motion control to maximize your gameplay
- Designed for hours of comfortable gaming
- Officially licensed by Nintendo
At the time of writing, Amazon has currently sold out of the new controller, but you can choose to buy one directly from PDP's very own store. It retails at £49.99 / $49.99.

Yes because I’m going to keep a controller in my back pocket at all times.
It looks cute but honestly I'm so used to bringing my Pro Controller with my places (especially for Smash) that I just prefer the more comfortable grip on that controller compared to the smaller stuff like what 8bitdo came out with a while back
Also of all the things, why would I need a controller in my pocket specifically?
Not gonna buy, because i dont see the big porpuse for myself, but still pretty cool:)
Looking good for a third party controller but I got the Pro controller. If not I would consider it possibly.
My huge hands struggle with the joy cons already. Nice idea for the little hand market lol
@Apportal I actually do, I have the blue 8bitdo that works for Switch and android. It's VERY compact and is good for doing stuff like rpgs on the go.
Looks cool but I'm good with my 8bitdo SN30 if I need a backup Pro controller/SNES Classics and my M30 for classics and fighting games.
D-pad is a little too far inwards for my taste, but then I’d need to hold it tonsee. Still I have my SNES & Saturn style pads for 2d stuff.
Not bad...would have preferred symmetrical placement of the analog sticks like the 8BitDo SNES-like controllers. As it stands, no reason to spring for that with a Pro Controller in my possession already. But if I needed another controller for docked co-op, I'd give it a look.
Dang at 50 dollars i see no reason to get it but if it was 25-30ish it seems like a sweet alternative
Guess I’ll be the first one to say I love it. Ordered it a few days ago from amazon, but it took a little longer to ship so I won’t have it for another two days. I love the color scheme and the size. I have big hands, but they’ve been conditioned with a Game Boy micro so this’ll be no problem.
The button does look kinda on the cheap side but hopefully that is just the looks. The feel better be high quality, I'll probably get one during the holiday rush.
Pre-lite I would have been interested. I’ll still keep an eye out to see if it gets any huge praise
@topher6490 do you have any 8bitdo’s? Would be interested to hear how it compares
Anything with a joystick I wouldn't dare put in my pocket. Feel like it would jam or break pretty easily
Don't think the joysticks are going to enjoy being in a pocket.
If you are traveling with a switch you will be carrying a bag to put the console in so you would just throw the pad in the same bag.
I have a 8bitdo lite and it does me fine generally and much more suited to having in a pocket
PDP.. it will be dead in 2 weeks. I really don't like their controllers.
Very cute! But I have my sn30pro which does the job just fine, I guess
Somehow it looks bigger than my 8BitDo SF30 Pro.
I like how it looks, though. No rumble but for once PDP included a battery, so hurray?
But can it power on the Switch?
8bitdo already made one, why buy from some no name?
L1+L2 are way too close.. a bit space would've been better. I would be annoyed using this controller with some games
Wrong layout, D-Pad should be parallel to the Action Buttons.
8Bitdo SN30 Pro is cheaper and offers similiar Features and it has Rumble.
@MireWolf82 if I can ask, do you play Streetfighter? If yes, can you map the M30 buttons so the front ones work for light, medium and hard hits? Tempted with the M30 instead of an arcade stick. Ta.
I love the battery life, but honestly I prefer 8bitdo design over this one. Becuase there's just the right space between buttons in comparison
What is the point? Sure, this sounds good on paper, but have you TRIED playing your switch, undocked, with a controller? It's just not viable or enjoyable to play on that screen if it's more then a few inches from your eyes because ... it's tiny!
Controller is awesome and my go to gamepad for fighting games as it has that lovely SEGA rolling D pad that's a dream in fighting games; also has the 6 button layout AND shoulder buttons which makes it universal to use in emulating the 16 bit era and most of the 32 bit. As far as mapping the buttons there are shortcut hotkeys that you can press to change the button mapping I believe. I'd Google that or check reddit as the paperwork that comes with the controllers is light. ALSO, I do believe with that last Switch controller update you may not need to do that as you can freely remap controllers using the Switch in settings menu controller adjustments. I do believe it's seen as a Pro controller.
Lastly, 8bitdo is releasing a highly customizable arcade stick that can do wired and bluetooth here in the next few weeks (mid October) so I'd keep an eye on that.
The M30 does work amazingly in Street Fighter Collection, Ultra SF2, and Streets of Rage 4 I can confirm.
Most pocketable controller would be an 8bitdo Lite style control with 3DS style joysticks.
@headpirate
Use tabletop mode All the time on the plane. It is a great feature.
If the analogue sticks are good, I could see this as a descent option for Switch Lite users. For some games with intense action, the JoyCons and by extension the controllers on the Lite, are just miserable. Of course the procontroller is good for that too, but it's also kind of bulky if you want your Switch to be highly mobile.
@Capt_T
So ... you're on a plain. Same as "on the train" in Japan or something, the screen is inches from your face so handheld works. But that's ALSO an environment where you absolutely do not need a small wireless controller built for battery life. You got about two hours, then if you don't have power, your controller still having juice isn't going to do you much good.
A 40 hour battery on your controller is only good if spontaneously playing your switch with a controller in handheld mode is something that happens so often and so unexpectedly that you need something with you at all times. If you have power to charge the switch, you have power to charge a switch pro controller or the joycons so again ... what's the point of a controller that lasts 20 times as long as the system it's controlling?
Looks like a hand crippling device.
Naw, I'd never carry a controller in my pocket like that. It's begging to break by doing that. If I'm going to bring a controller for my Switch aside from the joycons, I'll bring a regular Pro-Controller.
Do the sticks drift like 8bitdos? I'm still waiting for them to send me a replacement N30 Pro 2.
@headpirate
So Planes have power....as do longer train rides. You are playing and you don’t want to hold the switch on an overseas flight the whole time. Or you are playing with someone else on that flight.
Easier to carry a smaller controller or two. Than one pro controller. I get that it is not for you. But just because you don’t have a use for it, does not mean others don’t.
As to the 40 hours battery life. Bonus not to have to charge it as much.
@HeadPirate What kind of airline doesn't have power to the seats?
Could they have chosen a more annoying "song" for the ad?
Too expensive to consider.
Thats a nice Shi**y Friend Controller.
I am just going to stick with the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller with the Super Nintendo color configuration. It is the perfect size, and has the durability and comfort to back itself up.
I'm spoiled by force feedback so I'm not so sure. Would someone mind submitting a review and address any possible concerns about the d-pad?
What they really need is a switch stand that fits on my leg so I can use a controller in portable mode. I never have a table to put it down on.
@HeadPirate very true statement. Don't forget that the pro controller gets about 20+ hrs playtime as is in on charge. There is no need for this controller.
Can I say This, its more battery then controller its probably going to suck.
Got my 8bitdo SN30 Pro in original SNES-pad-repro colours as well as a PS4 pad synced up with the 8bitdo-ngle. This new pad is nice for people who don't already have better alternatives, though.
