@SilverShamrock That's pretty impressive. Even by casually playing the game for 30 hours I've already earned over 7k in rupees by just selling gems and doing quests. Do you just run around and gawk at the world?
Good. My Switch broke around 3/4 through my subscribtion. Didn't get a new Switch yet, but was eventually faced with a very scummy renewal of my subscription that I can't even use.
Always impressed by Nintendo's size optimisation. They have to though, since both the sd cards and console itself have such limited storage capabilities.
And man, aside from some low-res textures this game looks pretty great. The developers of Pokémon Legends can learn a lot from HAL, and this project in particular.
It was unlikely, but for some reason I had hoped they would have upped the graphics and performance since the earlier trailers. I like the concept of this game, but it looks and runs absolutely terrible. Maybe playing it undocked is the only way to make it sort of tolerable, but even then the art style is so disappointingly bland and mediocre.
@mr-duster Why are you quoting me on stuff I didn't say? Also, please raise your standards and get some glasses. Over 200 people work on the game, so why does it look like an early 3DS game and runs like ass? Even in the trailers they didn't try to hide the severe framerate drops, low textures, lazy animations etc. They don't care, it will sell either way at full price.
@mr-duster In what world doesn't that matter? They rake in billions with this franchise and charge full-price for subpar, low effort games. Let's be honest, what they've showed of Arceus so far looks worse than most indie titles released these days that are made with much smaller teams and budgets. They're sitting on one of the biggest IP's in history, and this is what they create?
I hope they finally stick with something and go for a Switch 2 next. The Switch is their best console yet, albeit behind in terms of technology and unfortunately not nearly as sturdy as what we're used to from them.
I just want them to improve it further instead of taking risks again.
@John_Deacon Yeah, Nintendo's sports and Mario Party games have been thoroughly lacking for a while now. Extremely barebone games, yet they charge full price for them even though they obviously lack content.
I don't understand why games like Splatoon 2 and ARMS get expanded for "free" (technically, you pay full price for these as well and they are just as barebones at launch) over time, but they can't seem to do that for others.
I think over the course of those four years, this game has grown on me a lot. It's probably the most fun Switch game, or game in general. It's the only game that I've 100%'d three times.
Pikmin 3 on Wii U was just fantastic, with the game pad contributing a lot to the multitasking. My only complaint is that it is rather short. I get quite upset when thinking about the series though, as it's been over 6 years since Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 was nearing completion...
The Switch Online Scam Pack would be a more fitting name. Paying so much for the same games that we've been playing for decades, for the umpteenth time, while they are in the worst condition they've ever been.
GG to anyone rewarding Nintendo for this with their money. I've got money to blow too, but will blow it on better things.
I don't think any game under 15 hours should be full priced to be honest. That's what I consider short. I'm willing to look the other way for Nintendo games because they are usually so polished and brilliant in general, but it does leave a bitter taste when they're one of the few asking so much.
I'm not buying it, not even if it turns out well. After the huge dissapointments that were Mario Party 10 and Super Mario Party, both of which didn't get any support after release even though they are as barebones as they come, I'm done with Mario Party.
My dad owned a NES with the Mario Bros. + Duck Hunt cartridge and a light gun before I was born, in the late eighties. I pretty much rolled into it from a very young age.
I'm in the same boat. Had my Switch since launch but it's been breaking down slowly after I've had it for around 2 years... It's definitely the worst quality hardware Nintendo has ever released. I've owned all of their consoles and handhelds up until now, and never had any of these issues before. I'm very careful with my stuff as well.
@Arkay Commenting that you've never played or are planning to play a game is spam, not voicing your opinion. Plus, it always struck me as odd why folks would go out of their way to make everyone else know they won't waste time on a certain game, yet gladly waste time talking about it.
@Heavyarms55 Wh-what? The software library was probably the best thing about the Wii U, hence why so many games get ported to Switch. It failed on pretty much every other front.
This looks considerably worse than DOOM 2016 to me, both in stills and in motion. On top of the long delay and deciding last moment to release it digital-only; I'm happy I didn't bother.
I think Nintendo covers the biggest age target group out of the big 3. There's truly something for everyone, and just because their own games are family friendly (colourful, non-violent) doesn't mean it's not for adults in the slightest.
I'm 31 and regularly switch between Dark Souls Remastered, Splatoon 2, DOOM and Mario Odyssey for example.
I have to admit I didn't like the game that much on my first playthrough and didn't even finish it. However, on the second playthrough I absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down. Spent nearly 200 hours on it.
Wonderful game once you can look past the anime style.
I honestly really liked the console. It had some very good games, Miiverse, the dual screen gaming was good on a lot of games and the console and controller were very sturdy and durable, unlike the Switch.
The Switch is probably my favourite Nintendo console/handheld so far, but it's also undeniably the worst quality hardware they have ever released. My 2017 launch Switch's Joy-Con coating started to wear and tear after barely 20 hours of Breath of the Wild, sending it in for a check-up would take weeks so I took it for granted back then.
After warranty:
Both Joy-Con sticks have drift now.
The SL/SR and lights on the side of both Joy-Con are broken. I never used those buttons before I bought Mario Party and found out the hard way that I had to shell out for a new pair when I bought the game.
The Switch is bent, apparently caused by heat while playing docked.
The dock has scratched the sides of the screen immensely over time.
The SD card slot suddenly broke, after not removing or even touching the card for years. The card won't snap into place anymore.
Just writing this makes me pissed off again, especially since most of these happened JUST after the warranty expired.
I bought it, while not entirely proud of it. Of course I'm happy with the 3 games included, especially considering the graphical upgrades they've been given.
However, it's an extremely cheap effort from Nintendo and they have dared to smack on a 60 euro price tag, on top of not including Galaxy 2.
In combination with it being artificially limited, it's great business for them but leaves a bad taste as a fan...
Time flies. On the Switch, Breath of the Wild was the most breathtaking game I lost myself in but Mario Odyssey is definitely the most fun game I've ever played. Already 100% it twice.
@BenAV Exactly my reaction to when I finished it! It was so good, yet when the game finally opens up and you get a hang for the 3 character gameplay... it ends.
@KingBowser86 You're not making any sense with your first comment, nor are you moving the discussion forward. Pokemon GO has no impact on the franchise as a whole. It has no impact on whatever GameFreak does. In my opinion, GameFreak doesn't create any high quality games either, but the mainline games still sell an amount of copies that 95% of the business is jealous of.
@KingBowser86 Such arrogance. There are obviously millions of players who enjoy Pokemon GO, so who are you to say it's not quality content? Besides, the game is run by Niantic. I doubt the unlikely financial bearings of Pokemon GO have a lot of impact on the franchise. Even if it did, people who are a fan of the franchise should be happy that it is generating so much income.
I mean, it was a nice excuse to visit the beautiful museum again. But really, that was it...? 3 stamps per section, 9 in total. And those extremely lame texts/jokes instead of cool info when you go to a stamp counter... it was incredibly underwhelming and I was done in 5-10 minutes.

Waiting for a sale sometime in the future. It looks very nice, but I find the difficulty on these kind of games mind numbing and unfulfilling.
