Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Day Shopping List: Micro SD Cards, Controllers And Accessories

HollowGrapeJ

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I wanted a traditional console that was up to par with the other consoles, but I like the idea of the Switch. It lacks power compared to the other home consoles and is likely not going to get full third party support again. Normally, I would be furious. But unlike Nintendo's last two consoles, the Switch has a legitimate reason for being underpowered which is it's mobile chip that was necessary to use for it to be portable. And I can see them releasing an upgraded version a few years down. If it can at least get a big game every now and then like the GameCube did, it's fine to me. If it isn't able to do that, it's wasted potential. The Switch's ability to play any game anywhere at anytime is a MAJOR advantage over any console right now. Even if it can't compete with graphics, simply being able to take the game with you is already a selling point for a lot of people.

@Rman12 To me, the Switch is improved over the Wii U by a lot. No region lock, games tied to account and not console, better online service, and the portability is something that's definitely useful to me. For people that don't care about playing handheld mode, I can see why they are not interested. And that's fine. Nintendo took a risk combining console and handheld into a single experience and even though it can act just fine as both, it falls behind when you try to use it as just one thing. Because it's not small and compact enough to be a handheld for a lot of people and it doesn't compete in terms of power as a home console compared to the other consoles which is a let down for those guys that wanted a comparable console to PS4 Pro or Scorpio.

The first party support for the Nintendo Switch looks promising. If I were to get the Switch, I'd be looking at Zelda, MK8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, ARMS, FE Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, to name a few. I agree the launch is lackluster. But not the lineup for the whole year. It's more impressive than the Wii U.

Re: Editorial: The Wii U Has Been Nintendo's Lowest Selling Home Console; It Deserved Better

HollowGrapeJ

Wii U got what it deserved. Nintendo poorly advertised it and it was gimped in far too many ways. I get that they want to push the Gamepad and give us something new, but as a regular console, it is not up to par. Nintendo had more than enough time to learn from the PS3 and 360. I don't mean make a complete carbon copy of the two, but at least get basic stuff right like account system, console storage, etc.

Re: Looks Like Nintendo Has A Sense Of Humour About The Wii U's Failure

HollowGrapeJ

Looking at that clean, slick, white Gamepad gives me memories of first opening my Wii U. Back when I thought the Wii U was actually gonna be a great success for Nintendo. First game I got was Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. Spent like the whole night playing. Good times. Ahh... But here we are now. It never took off and was quickly abandoned by third parties. So much wasted potential.

Re: Nintendo NX Is "Fantastic" And "Something New", Says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot

@yomanation "You could argue that Witcher 3 has higher quality, but it is in the expense of features and player freedom." Now this, I agree with. I've always thought The Witcher 3 was much better than Skyrim, but it is true that you don't have much choice in who you want to be. You can only be Geralt. You can be anyone in Skyrim. I personally find vanilla Skyrim pretty boring, but I won't deny how much content there is. The amount of powers, shouts, weapons, armor, quests, etc is big and the world is giant. When you get into modded Skyrim, the possibilities are endless. It's amazing.

Re: GameStop Survey Suggests We'll See Nintendo NX Within The Next 12 Months

HollowGrapeJ

The NX is going to get new details revealed this E3. And I can say that it will get a release date sometime next year. Most likely during E3 2017. It COULD be a handheld. And it probably will be. But if it's a console, I would say it's a better idea to wait until around the time Sony and MS are ready to show off their next systems. but they probably won't even have theirs ready to reveal until 2019. There's no telling what's gonna happen. But I hope Nintendo is ready to get back into the competition and pull gamers towards their system. They should've already done this with the Wii U. (which shouldn't have even had Wii in its name) It's time to show people Nintendo isn't "kiddy" and that they can compete.
