Re: Nintendo Switch Surpasses Lifetime PlayStation Vita Sales Within Japan

HollowGrapeJ

@Heavyarms55 I can understand that. Some people feel at ease knowing there's only one console to choose and that they'll focus on that. With the Pro and One X, we're seeing improvements to current games along with higher resolutions. Something that wouldn't have been possible if we waited who knows how long for the next fully fledged consoles. It's beneficial for the future too. Playing these games later on are gonna look much better than some people remember, haha.

@Retsam The good thing is that you still don't have to upgrade to the mid-gen consoles. I want an Xbox One X, but I'm not mad that I just have a PS4 Slim. A lot of people seem to be against these upgraded consoles because they feel that they're required to buy it even though they know that they can still play the games. It's very weird to me. I don't understand. Lots of technology is "outdated" all the time. New phones, new laptops, etc. It's not much different.

@Heavyarms55 The way I see it, Sony needs to play to their strengths. They're doing fine with a regular console. They don't necessarily need to "innovate". What Sony has always done better than Nintendo is take a more simplistic approach.

The basic box that plays games is what Sony has always had, it's always what brought people over. They don't mind that.

Re: The Mobile Phone Equivalent Of Dark Souls Is Making Its Way Across To The Switch

HollowGrapeJ

Guys, obviously a mobile game is going to be more limited in terms of what they can do. Almost every game has to be designed around touch screen controls and work across a vast majority of phones that aren't even that powerful.

In terms of price, the mobile market is very different than consoles. Most people do not even want to pay $10 for phone games when they're used to free to play. A lot of these games implement microtransactions and ads to push you to actually spend some money and make up the profit.

Releasing a $20 game on the mobile store would be suicide. It's already hard enough as it is trying to get consumers to move on from free to play. A lot of people complain about the quality of mobile games, yet a lot of them would probably find even $9.99 absurd. Some developers would love to offer a better experience for mobile. But, it's a big risk to take. They have to be able to be profitable.

"This is our first foray into dedicated game consoles, so we are very anxious and super nervous. It took our team a long time, dedication and hard work, and overcoming unforeseen difficulties, and constant changes to get to this point."

^ They are finally taking the step to getting on a console and they're trying to work with what they can. And the first thing you see is people in this comment section already writing them off. This is why mobile gaming is the way it is.

@goggles789 Nintendo does a pretty good job with the "Featured" section though. They tend to show off a lot of neat indie games that sometimes I might have overlooked alongside their bigger titles.

I remember A Hat in Time coming out on consoles and I was pretty excited and looked for it in the PS Store. It wasn't anywhere to be found which was confusing. I didn't find it until after manually typing it in and I was like "Ah... Okay then."

They do a better job hiding the shovelware, sure. Though, it's pretty crazy to think how some indie games can be affected like that by the way they manage things.

Now, watch when it comes out on the Switch. I can almost say for sure it'll be featured and getting more attention. I definitely give Nintendo props for helping the smaller guys.

Re: AAA Racer GRID Autosport Is Speeding Towards Nintendo Switch In 2019

@Agramonte I can understand price being an issue for some people with older ports. But, I just think you are not looking at things realistically if you expect the Switch to be the place for new AAA games.

If Switch is somebody's only console, then sure. I know how it feels to some people to want games and not be able to have em because I used to be Nintendo-only. But, I now know that it's pretty much pointless to hope for that and move to other platforms if I want those games.

But, even still, the Switch is doing better than the Wii U did with it's support. Even if I don't buy the games, I love every time the Switch gets ports of games like this. You wouldn't expect full third party from Nintendo consoles, but it's still offering some things to the table and that's a good thing.

@JR150 That's not surprising though. Xbox always has it rough over there.

@Mr_Pepperami I can see the single player for GTA V not being much of an issue as we did already get the game on last gen. Online has changed a lot though. They increased the player count and they don't support the last gen versions anymore which would likely be what a Switch version would be based off of.
