@TG16_IS_BAE What false advertisement am I defending? Do elaborate. All I said is it's more practical to be able to take my games wherever I go. I wouldn't have time to play much otherwise. It's okay to be satisfied with a product too. If you don't like Switch, whatever. Enjoy whatever makes you happy.
@TG16_IS_BAE If it's the same TV in one specific room, it might just be unpractical. The whole point of the Switch hardware is it easily goes where you go. It's a small tablet. It's amazing it plays the software it does. Expecting it to be graphically on par with a console is ridiculous.
@TG16_IS_BAE Not everyone has time to sit tethered to a single room for hours on end to play videogames. If you do and you think you can get a better version on a console, great. No one is stopping you from enjoying videogames the way you want to. Switch is simply more practical for a lot of people. I imagine that's why it's sold so well.
I would like to see an island with a city that acts as an online hub to meet and play mini games with other players. It could have a mall with various shops. There just needs to be more to do than the same old chores. After 300 hours I'm getting fatigued. I want the days I spend to feel like different days. As it is now, it feels like groundhog day.
I'm mainly playing Xenoblade Chronicles with a little River City Girls and Crash Bandicoot Trilogy in between. I've also got a great book to read, so I'm pretty well set on entertainment for a little while. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
I bought Banana Blitz for the sole purpose of communicating to Sega that I want more Super Monkey Ball. I just want either ports of the first two games or something inspired by or as good as those games. Here's hoping...
As someone who owns almost 70 physical Switch games, I certainly hope this doesn't happen for another couple of generations. I'm counting on the Switch 2/Pro to be backwards compatible. I appreciate being able to own my games.
In any case, I see this happening on consoles before handhelds. Memory is much cheaper for a console than it is for mobile devices.
I think it's more likely that digital only will become an option, and physical games will be relegated to hardcore collectors. If we look at other media, it makes sense. I can still buy Records/CD/Blu Ray/ etc. Devices that play physical media is easily accessible, and totally unnecessary to be able to enjoy music and movies. I hope physical games are always available, even if only a minority of people still want it.
@Kilamanjaro That's what I hear, although how hard would it really be for Konami to port over some of their older titles. I would have thought the MGS collection would have been a given, considering it was even ported (each game separately) to the Nvidia Shield. They're just leaving money on the table at this point.
I wasn't even looking forward to this game, but I feel disappointed, none the less. I really want more Konami support on Switch. When I was a kid, Konami was only second to Nintendo for great games. I just want the Konami of old, but I guess that doesn't exist anymore. I would still settle for more old ports of their best games. How about some Metal Gear and more Castlevania?
Super Mario 64 is one of my all-time favorite games, so I would be pretty disappointed if it wasn't included. It could really use a remake. Sunshine, as well, could use some polish. I added the two Galaxy games because they're favorites, but Mario 3D Land could use the love of a remaster. Super Mario Land 2 could benefit from full color and 16 bit graphics, so I wouldn't complain if it was remade.
I would much rather have a Nintendo Land sequel. I had so much fun playing that with friends and family. They could make new games that don't rely on the gamepad while keeping the original games and having a free download for multiplayer. It worked for Clubhouse Games, so why not Nintendo Land?
This looks intriguing, but where is Metal Gear Solid, Konami? They should have, at the very least, given the Switch an eShop release of the collection.
I already subscribe to Nintendo Force magazine. It's a perfect continuation of Nintendo Power. Unfortunately, it's quarterly instead of every month. Other than that, I'm not missing much.
I'm hoping to finally get all the way through this game. I got about halfway through the Wii version and about a third of the way through the 3DS version. The 3DS version was a technical achievement, but Xenoblade is something that deserves a larger screen.
@La-weejee I hear you. It's just that I work 70 hours a week overnights at a group home. I do most of my gaming in the wee hours of the morning. Needless to say, the majority of my gaming is on Switch.
My Wii U is still hooked up in my living room, but I would gladly double dip for Mario 3D World, Zelda TP and WW, Pikimn 3, Xenoblade X, and a reworked Star Fox Zero. I'm sure we'll see some of these when you consider how many Wii U games have already been brought over. If not, at least I can still enjoy these at home.
3D Mario games are one of the major reasons I still play videogames. Both Galaxy games were absolutely brilliant. If I were forced to pick a favorite, it would be the first one. It just felt more cohesive. I hope the rumors of a collection are true. I could always use more 3D Mario games on Switch.
I'm really looking forward to trying this. I love these kinds of racing games. Hopefully, it lives up to the games that inspired it.
@impurekind I would love to see this or something like it come to the Oculus Quest. There could even be a mode that simulates sitting inside a deluxe arcade machine.
Super Mario Bros 2 is my favorite NES game. It's such a quirky game with great sprites and fun mechanics. I still play through it regularly. I've been waiting for a follow-up forever.
On Switch, besides Animal Crossing, I've been in a 3D platformer mood. I'm playing Super Mario Odyssey and Spyro trilogy.
On Oculus Quest I'm playing Pixel Ripped 1995. It's a really fun and well made nostalgia trip.
Having been playing Streets of Rage 4, I also started playing the first two Streets of Rage games on my New 3DS XL. The 3D effect is so amazing in those games.
Instead of getting a marginally improved Switch in the near future, I would rather wait until we could get a major upgrade.
At this point, nothing is going to bring me back to tethered console gaming. I skipped the PS4 and I'm set to do the same with PS5. It doesn't matter how much power a console has when I don't have the time to game nearly as much on my living room TV alone. I never would have been able to get through BotW or DQXI on a tethered console.
I would love to see a Switch model that could competently pull off VR, but I think we're at least a few years off from Nintendo being able to pull that off at a decent price point. Until then I'm happy with my Switch and Oculus Quest that can go with me anywhere.
As long as the service was available on the Switch, as well as smartphones, I don't see a problem with it. Having it available on both would give it its widest appeal. I have no interest in gaming on my phone, but I'd gladly pay a monthly fee for access to Nintendo's catalog of older games on my Switch. It should be a cross platform service including Switch, smartphones and PC. That would basically hit every demographic of videogame player. I fear a smartphone only model.
I want all things N64. Just give us NSO N64, Nintendo. Other than that, how about the Wii games that were already ported to the Chinese Nvidia Shield. It would be so easy for Nintendo to put Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess and the rest on the eShop. And, where is Mario 3D World? It seems absolutely perfect for the Switch. Pikmin 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles X too. Nintendo Land could work too with multiple Switch consoles. Make a free app for multiplayer, Nintendo. I want to pack up my Wii U and these games deserve to be played by other people. And don't forget GameCube and Mother/Earthbound.
I've got to say, games like this one were straight up better on the 3DS. The 3D effect made up for the lost excitement of playing these sorts of games in deluxe cabinets. I can't help but thinking G-Loc would have been a better 3DS release.
Super Mario 64 remains to be my all time favorite video game. I don't say that lightly, as I have so many favorites. My first true 3D game still holds up to everything I've played since. I would love to see a proper remaster, if it was handled well. A Switch port would certainly be enough for me.
I would also love to see ports or remasters of Thousand Year Door, Super Mario Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2, and 3D Land and World. You just can't go wrong with 3D Mario games. They're one of the major reasons I still play videogames.
I remember begging my mom to take me to McDonald's so I could collect them all. That was the one of the few ways you could get Nintendo toys back then. Now I have a room full of amiibo.
I remember reading through the preview for SMB3 in Nintendo Power and being so excited. I had to wait a couple of extra weeks to get the game because it sold out everywhere. When I finally got it, I played it every waking moment I could. I still play the original cartridge on my AVS frequently. It's probably the game I've bought the most times throughout the years. I have it on NES, SNES (All Stars and All Stars +) Gameboy Advance, Wii Virtual Console, Wii All Stars, Wii U Virtual Console, 3DS Virtual Console, and NSO. I'm a sucker, so I'll keep buying it as long as Nintendo keeps selling it.
I'm always late to the discussion because my weekend starts on Monday. I've been enjoying Ring Fit for the last couple of weeks, so I'll continue with that. I've also been playing New Super Lucky's Take. It's such a fun, easy going game. I just got Path of the Warrior for Oculus Quest. I've only played the first level, but it feels like being inside Streets of Rage. So much fun! Enjoy your week everyone!
This was the first generation I didn't get a PlayStation as my secondary console since the PS1. The extra incentive of having a DVD/Blu-ray player/streaming device isn't there anymore. I'm also spoiled on the portability and ease of play with Switch. Over half my Switch games are third party games, so I don't feel like I'm missing out there. Switch has changed the way I play games. Breath of the Wild is the first, and only, game I've ever played that truly felt like it had a living, breathing world. The NPCs, animals and monsters all interact with one another in meaningful ways. The landscape is very natural, with strange ruins that feel ancient and forgotten. It's more than your run of the mill open videogame world. BotW's world doesn't seem like it needs you around for things to be happening. It's a game that truly sparks the imagination and gets me excited to explore. It's easily my game of the decade and, even after three years, a good enough reason to get a Switch on its own.

As long as great software keeps coming to Switch, it will keep selling. Switch has something that PS5 and Xbox series X will never have. Portability.
Re: Poll: What Features Would You Want In A Switch 'Pro'?
I think it would be best for Nintendo to wait for a big upgrade in a couple of years. The components will be cheaper, so they can keep the system at a reasonable price. They could bundle it with BoTW2 for the definitive experience.
