Re: Opinion: Ogre Battle 64: Person Of Lordly Caliber's Revolutionary Heart Still Burns Brightly

Gryzor

@Dogorilla The thing is, Ogre Battle 64 is not primarily an RTS game. Although it says "Real Time Battle System" on the back of the box.
You're supposed to plan ahead of combat, by choosing your units and setting up your troops. Kind of similar to programming your party in Final Fantasy XII, so they act precisely the way you want them to during the auto-combat sequence. You should give it a go or try ATLUS' excellent spiritual successor, Unicorn Overlord.

Appreciate the quick update, thank you.
Yeah, docked demo gameplay was smooth on Switch 2, but it tanked in handheld mode.
From what I’ve heard, you can expect a range from 40 to 60 FPS across the board, if you decide to upgrade to Switch 2. It will look much better, but I guess if you do plan on playing only docked, you might wanna omit the update and stick with the Switch 1 version.

Re: Video: EA Sports FC 26 Disappoints At 30fps On Switch 2

Gryzor

@Cyberbotv2
Of course average gamers don't care about FPS.
Otherwise they'd be refered to as core gamers.

A higher framerate with lower input lag always translates directly to better and snappier gameplay. Whether you value that is up to you.

Now, EA has hard data on their FC target audience and it says that they're overwhelmingly football fans first and average gamers second.
EA marketing also knows precisely, that they have a monopoly on football videogames. So they can get away with 30 FPS, as long as all the superficial stuff, like stadiums, fancy graphics, player names, club jerseys, etc. is in place.

Re: Ubisoft Employee Explains Why Star Wars Outlaws Is A Game-Key Card

@kmtrain83
Who's to say digital won't outlast physical? My own experience, for starters.
All my physical media, CDs and cartridges, still works just fine after 35 years.

Whereas some of my digital purchases from Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Amazon were either purged, discontinued, had their servers shut down, ran into licensing issues or had some other shenanigans come up.

Who's to say digital storefronts won't need to be supported for longer?
The fact that capitalism is about profit only.
If you think customers have the upper hand vs corporations, you can think again.
Money talks, so corporations lobby our lawmakers and create the most favorable conditions.

But feel free to FAFO for yourself, cause it's none of my business to tell you how to spend your hard-earned dosh.

@Noelemahc @BeefCatStudios
Nightdive should definitely let us know then. They did announce kb/m for PS5 System Shock, which was false advertising.
I bought it based on that feature and it turned out to be a flat out lie. Their marketing and PR department is doing a naff job tbh. Fantastic coders and artists, but awfully weak communication.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch

Gryzor

60 FPS-games take only half the time of 30 FPS-games, to translate button pushes into on-screen action. Therefore gameplay is objectively worse at 30 FPS and that very much matters in any action game.🤷🏻‍♂️
Pretty confident though, that at least Switch 2 will run Ninja Gaiden at 60.

Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2

Gryzor

Let’s be honest, it’s all about the games. So here’s a different perspective. My Steam Deck runs what Nintendon’t (yet):

Alice: Madness Returns, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, Batman Arkham Origins, Wizardry 6, 7 & 8, Dragon Age Origins, Heroes of Might & Magic III, Drakensang I & II, Ys 1, 2, 4, 6 & 7, Divinity II Dragon Knight Saga, The Saboteur, Binary Domain, Fallout New Vegas, Baldur’s Gate III, Mass Effect Trilogy, Chrono Trigger, Virtua Fighter 5, GTA IV & V, Red Dead Redemption II, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Yakuza - Like a Dragon Zero - 8, Bionic Commando & Rearmed, Strider, Metal Gear Rising, MGS V, Persona 3 Reload, Tales of Berseria, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2, Deadpool, Transformers Cybertron 1 & 2, Sacred Gold, Judgment & Lost Judgment, Dead Space Trilogy, Nioh 1 & 2, Sekiro, Armored Core VI, Granblue Fantasy, Scarlet Nexus, Spider-Man, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted and other Sony IP.
Halo, Diablo IV, WoW, Fable, Forza, Age of Empires and other Microsoft IP.

VS.

Bravely Default HD is the only Switch 2 launch game I want.
Looking forward to: Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Wave Race and F-Zero. I’m lukewarm on Bananza and MK World.
Will ignore: Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon Z - A.

Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases

Gryzor

Hamster usually does a fantastic job with its Arcade Archives and I’ve bought several dozens of them.
However, they did drop the ball by introducing some major input lag to Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. Those are completely unplayable to me. Here’s my wishlist for upcoming games:
Alien Syndrome - SEGA
Shadow Dancer - SEGA
Blasteroids - Atari Games
Xybots - Atari Games
Satan of Saturn - SNK
Psycho-Nics Oscar - Data East
Chelnov Atomic Runner - Data East
Dragon Ninja - Data East
Midnight Resistance - Data East
Robocop - Data East
Toki Juju Densetsu - Data East / TAD
Karnov - Data East
Sly Spy Secret Agent - Data East
Snow Bros - Toaplan
Legend of Hero Tonma - Irem
Mr. Heli Battle Chopper - Irem
Pang - Mitchell
Quartet 2 - SEGA
E-SWAT - SEGA

Re: Physical Game Sales Took A Nosedive In The UK Last Year

Gryzor

@SilvercatMoonpaw A small annoyance like swapping cards is the lesser evil, compared to paying through the nose, when the market is a digital monopoly. You’ll soon find out. Which is ironic, because you were talking about being able to afford games =P

Re: Californian Law Dictates Storefronts Be Honest About Digital Game Ownership

Gryzor

@Burning_Spear “The law should be that once you buy the game its license can't be revoked”.
Sure, but here’s a quick reminder that laws are not tailored to our best interest, but for the corpos. The fat cats who own the corpos also happen to own our lawmakers.
Which is also why California is merely dishing out a warning label, making it clear we don’t own jack.

Re: Random: "Let Them Play, First Thing!" - Sakurai Is Tired Of Slow Game Openings

Gryzor

@shgamer How are video games not art, when they're in fact an amalgamation of writing, painting, designing and making music?
Staying on topic though, I dislike cutscenes and tutorials. I'm already invested when I start a game, so I want control from the get go. If I weren't, I'd be watching a movie, listening to music or reading a book instead.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak (Switch) - A Strong Entry With Some Confusing Quirks

Gryzor

The demo got me addicted and I love the new hybrid combat system.
As @Aiwen correctly mentioned, the reviewer misunderstood the purpose of the action combat.

You’re supposed to smack the tougher enemies only till their stun gauge is full, so turn-based combat can then be initiated with the advantage of them being stunned.

Enemies will force you into turn-based mode at some point, if you keep hacking and slashing away for too long. It’s also convenient to just dispose of weaker enemies with Ys-style action combat.
