@SalvorHardin What are you talking about? I never said the PS5 wasn't desirable. I just said it wasn't a good look that the Switch 2 was the hot new thing and its desirability was less than or equal to devices that are older, one of which (the PS5) probably doesn't have a whole lot longer before its sequel console comes out. Yes there's rumors that the PS6 release will be delayed because of the RAM issues, but even then if its only by a few years the PS5 is still in the back half of its life.
This honestly seems not that impressive to me. PC Being so high is kind of expected though I did not expect it to be THIS high. But Switch 2 ranks 4th. It's the hot new thing and its still in terms of popularity with developers slightly behind not just the PS5 (a console that at this point doesn't have much longer before its time for the next generation), and the Steam Deck, another handheld device thats just a glorified Linux device with a significantly smaller userbase than any other device on the top half of this list.
I don't get what's up with all the negativity in these comments, the game looks pretty fun. I'm personally more excited for Wild Blue Skies to satisfy my EXTREME Star Fox-like craving, but this could potentially hold me over. It looks decently fun!
When amiibo were $12 or even $15 it was easy for me to go "Oh thats a no brainer, of course I'll get a bunch of amiibos! A cool little figure for that cheap that gives me cool stuff in the game too? Sign me up!" But now with the prices getting so high, I'm thinking to myself that I'll only get one if- 1) I think it looks really cool 2) its for a series I really like 3) it gives game rewards I'm actually into. And big shocker, I don't think I've seen a single amiibo the past 3 or 4 years that has actually satisfied all 3 of those prerequisites.
I could be wrong but I feel like Switch 2 sales are due to slow down real bad pretty soon here unless they release a major heavy hitter thats gonna blow people away. It seems like a lot of Switch 2 owners were major fans to begin with or jumped onto the hype train. I even feel like I see a noticeably larger number of people saying they regret their purchase than I did when the Switch 1 came out. The die-hard fans and hype-train riders already bought the system so all thats really left is the avergae consumers that probably either cant afford the $450, don't think the upgrade is worth it, or just aren't interested in enough of the exclusives currently out.
Oh really Omar? You expect me to believe there's some deep meaning behind why Qualia is on your wishlist? And not the real, very obvious 2 large reasons sitting right in front of me? ;P
Lol all the people in these comments defending a mediocre, glorified mini game collection that has no right costing as much as it does. Is it the worst game of the year? Definitely not. Does it deserve to get ridiculed and made fun of for being another example of how modern Nintendo has become extremely anti-consumer? Absolutely. This should have been a pack-in game to show what the system is capable of.
I'm really not trying to be a hater here, but... It's just alright. A solid 7, maybe a 6 on Switch 2 only cause I would expect more visually from a $70 Switch 2 version. Though I will say the game graphically on the base Switch is genuinely impressive given the hardware. Though that shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did, considering how much the Prime 1 Remaster blew me away too. Prime 4 is good, it really is. There's just some stuff that really holds it back from being on the same level or even near the same level as the previous entries. A lot of people excuse the desert area, but I genuinely cant stand it. It just feels so tacked on, like it only exists to pad the runtime and make you think the game is longer and bigger than it actually is. (Which it really didnt even need. Without the desert the game would be admittedly pretty short, but that isn't always a bad thing) Myles knocks an entire point off for me. I know he's not as prevalent as I initially feared, but his existence is so aggravating, I stop having fun when he's talking.
@OldGamer999 Unfortunately I have to agree about faith in Nintendo kinda slowly dropping ever since the release of the Switch 2. I feel like they as a company have just been slowly becoming worse and worse since then. They use to have their issues but still be overall better and more consumer-friendly than a lot of others but it feels like they're slowly becoming not only just like the other crappy companies but also becoming more like Apple with severely over-valuing themselves in the name of maximizing profits.
Aside from the resolution bump, the only real difference I'm seeing is SOME textures and effects seem to definitely be a higher resolution. For Switch 1 this actually is a pretty impressive looking game just like the Prime 1 Remaster. But for Switch 2 I definitely expected more. And I don't really buy the "Cross-Platform" argument since there've been plenty of cross platform games in the past that had much bigger visual differences in the newer gen versions.
I've been kinda disappointed with Metroid Prime 4, but wow this stuff is awesome. Hopefully this comes to the U.S cause I would LOVE both that arm cannon pillow and the metroid ice cube tray!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but even after all these patches, it still isn't quite as polished as the original version right? Just not sure if the added content and current state really justifies the higher price versus just getting the original for way cheaper
Holy heck, as someone who absolutely adores all the Star Fox games (maybe Command a little less than the others...) this looks fantastic! AND it's made by the studio that did Cursed To Golf, one of my favorite Indie games I've played the last couple years!? Sign me up! This looks like a Day 1 purchase for me!
Europe definitely gets points for having the colored buttons, but the main contenders for me are America and Japan. Japans got the cool unique looking box which is very pretty, but the American one not only is designed to look similar to the original U.S SNES box, but even includes a list of some of the available games for it as well which edges it out slightly more for me
Recently picked up The Walking Dead Complete 1st Season when it was on sale. I remember playing the first 2 episodes back when it was on the PS3 so I'm excited to dive back in and finish all of it!
I mean what else is it gonna compete with? It was the only first party game that came out that month, and the first week of sales is always the biggest for games. I don't really understand how this is worthy of an article. Thats like making an article titled "Today we are the closest to 2026 that we've ever been"
I don't think that awful companion character is bad enough to make me not want to play the game anymore, but it's DEFINITELY gonna have a strong impact on my enjoyment I feel. At least whenever he's on screen. I genuinely can't stand that awful quippy dialogue.
I know everyones saying it, but my interest in this game died in its entirety when I saw they were charging $70 for this while making it a game key card. Absolutely unacceptable.
They want $70 for a farming sim game that will absolutely fit on the 64GB cartridge 5 times over and can't even be bothered to put the game on it?? This is not only insanely greedy of Nintendo, but genuinely kind of unforgivable to me. I was interested initially, but after this, I wouldn't purchase or support this game even if it was provided for free.
@AverageGamer "Someone else is worse about it, therefore it's okay" isn't a good argument. They absolutely also put out titles way too slowly. But at least they have the excuse that most people that buy their consoles are doing so for the 3rd party titles primarily. People dont do that with Nintendo typically. If you're buying a Nintendo console, you're buying it for the Nintendo games. 3d party support is just a nice added bonus. So not putting out games at a reasonable pace is absolutely worth criticizing them for.
The game is finally nearly at the state it should've been at launch. Unbelievable that they released a version of the game that costs 4x more than the regular version and was still a noticeably worse experience.
@Edward_J_Grug_III The regular Switch version was pretty buggy on day 1. I myself phased through the floor into the bottomless void 2 seperate times, and even had the game crash on me once. And I know others have had similar experiences.
If this DLC isn't even coming out until February, why tf did they bother announcing it before the game had even released? That left such a sour taste in my mouth that this is likely going to be mostly made up of stuff they cut from the full game to sell back to us later. If they had just waited a bit longer, I might've actually thought about getting this DLC.
This would be nice. Even though they consolidated their studios into all working on the same system, it still always felt like they were releasing games a little too slowly on the OG Switch, and I'm sure it's gonna slow down even more with the Switch 2. More games would greatly be appreciated, especially if some of those studios are allowed to work on smaller budget titles. Those often end up being the games that stick with me the most!
Gotta be that scene in Pokemon X&Y for me personally. I remember going to the midnight release for this game and staying up playing it with my friends all night. I distinctly remember that scene too. I'm not sure why, there's nothing particularly special about it. But teenage me was having so much fun with the first ever fully 3D handheld pokemon game, and so that scene just stuck with me!
Definitely don't think MKW deserves GOTY honestly, I mean it's fine but nothing of that caliber. DK Bananza maybe? Idk it's definitely a fantastic game but I'm not quite sure it's gonna contend with the other nominees.
I'm glad it's great, but I think this will be a "pick up later down the line" game for me. I'm just a little burnt out, I played every Nintendo "Warriors" game thats come out from the Wii U and Switch, so I just don't think I have it in me to play another one right now. I still hope everyone else picking it up this week has a good time with it though!
I totally get the argument of it taking time and effort. You cant just upload the audio files. You've gotta make sure they're properly sliced and set up for seamless looping, you've gotta give it a cover art, you need to figure out what playlists to add it to or create for it to be put into. There's more to it than just dumping it onto the service. But it should not have taken this long. Especially with that quote, this just screams of "Dont release it until it would be the most profitable to drum up interest again."
@Max_the_German And what about all the "Game Of The Year" games that got rereleases with the DLC included? It's got nothing to do with Nintendos games being somehow inherently a higher quality than games literally agreed upon by many to be that years best game, its entirely to do with Nintendo being deathly allergic to giving consumers an even decent value.
"No mouse mode" Laughs in Steam Deck In all seriousness though that's crazy that it doesn't have mouse support. It was literally designed first and foremost as a computer game, how could it possibly have been difficult enough to implement that they just didn't bother??
Finally, a Switch 2 exclusive that actually makes me wish I had one! I haven't bought one cause I subscribe to the Rule of 3 (3 exclusives that you really want) and this is the first game to go onto that list!
Adding content to one of the worst Nintendo games to come out in a long time... I wonder how long support will continue, given that this is apparently performing VERY poorly...
@kal_el_07241 Thats great for the people that pick the game up during the time period where you can get it. What about the people who pick the game up later? It's okay that they just don't get access to those mega evolutions all cause they didnt get the game right off? Or the people who just straight up dont want anything to do with competitive? These should've just been obtainable in the normal game, not online competitive.
The switch 2 version having better performance is nice and all, but better performance alone cant save how much this game has let me down. The visuals themselves are enough for me to give this a pretty bad score. The game takes place in a single city, and they couldn't even make the city look any better than an early PS2 game?! Not to mention the city itself just is not fun to explore or traverse. Charging $70 for this should be a crime. The gameplay isnt much better either, its better than normal Pokemon but its still just not that interesting. I feel like this game is being held up entirely by 3 things; the die-hard fans that will accept garbage slop as long as it has the word "Pokemon" slapped next to it, the admittedly decent story and characters (which is still hampered by the complete lack of voice acting), and how much genuine fun it is to dress up your character.
@itsapossum What does Palworld have to do with this? Anachronism was talking about the Switch having a copycat ripoff game of this already, which is a thing that regularly happens whenever an indie game on PC gets really popular. It happened with Supermarket Simulator, it happened with Unpacking, heck it even happened with Palworld getting a Switch ripoff on the Eshop.
I'm probably not gonna get this game mostly due to both announcing DLC well before the game was even out and also locking some mega evolutions behind participating in competitive which I have no interest in, but this review makes my decision sting just a tad bit more. It seems like it would be fun. Probably not $70 fun, but fun nonetheless. And I absolutely agree with the game needing voice acting. Ever since Pokemon moved to the Switch, I've been baffled that they haven't even bothered to do a small amount of it. Voice acting would truly heighten the experience and make it finally feel like Pokemon has finally moved to the next generation. It would also make the games so much more accessible as so many young gamers are held back with their enjoyment by their limited reading comprehension.
I was into the aesthetic and locale, but honestly after they announced DLC well before the game was even out AND decided to lock some mega stones behind competitive, my interest has almost completely died.
@AllBLK I do agree with that sentiment of punishing people for pirating modern games but not ruining their lives completely, I think 4.5 million is a ridiculous amount. And I agree with your take on retro game piracy. As far as I'm concerned, if a company isn't planning on making something available for consumers to obtain legally anymore, they should lose their rights to that particular piece and it should enter the public domain early. There's no reason to sit on an IP or not re-release older titles but still get mad at people for finding less official ways of playing them
This seemed crazy to me until I remembered there's a lot of people that basically just buy every years new CoD and/or FIFA, so they're probably influencing that statistic quite a bit. Plus the people that have GamePass and probably dont buy many games cause of it. Still, if we're including games that go on sale I'm probably about 5 to 6 a year
@AllBLK I'm all about pirating older games and ragging on bootlickers, but I feel like Nintendo is super justified in going after people pirating current gen games. They cant exactly continue to exist if people start pirating newer releases and they start bleeding money.
I really did not like MKW all that much. It was enjoyable but not nearly as fun as most of the other Mario Karts I've played, and the controls just felt kinda off. SRCW, even though it doesn't have nearly as much content overall, feels a lot more fun (not quite as much fun as MK8 & All-Stars Racing Transformed though.) I ended up selling MKW but I think I'll get a lot of playtime out of SRCW
@Supaguy I agree with fan service being kind of a turn-off (haha) for a lot of games and shows, though I do think the fan service here doesn't look like it'll be TOO much for me to be able to enjoy the game.
@Supaguy I agree, MK World did not look appealing to me, and after playing the demo I was even less interested. So I picked this up on my Steam Deck since the Switch 2 version isn't ready and I am absolutely loving it.
@Sonicka Idk a lot of those intro shots where you see the environment outside the track really give off the vibe of the game being built with the Switch's weaker hardware in mind. Even on stronger hardware like the PS5, while the game looks better, the environments visuals don't quite hold up compared to the other Sonic games in the last few years that definitely were just backported to the Switch.
It's crazy to me that it runs so poorly considering how obvious it is that this game was designed initially for the Switch and just ported with improvements to the other systems. I got it on PC for my Steam Deck and it honestly runs better than I expected. No resolution scaling needed, with every setting on High except Occlusion on Low makes it run at a locked stable 60 fps

Re: One Of 2024's Nuttiest Indie Games Shoots Onto Switch 2 Next Month
@itsapossum What does Palworld have to do with this? Anachronism was talking about the Switch having a copycat ripoff game of this already, which is a thing that regularly happens whenever an indie game on PC gets really popular. It happened with Supermarket Simulator, it happened with Unpacking, heck it even happened with Palworld getting a Switch ripoff on the Eshop.
Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
I was into the aesthetic and locale, but honestly after they announced DLC well before the game was even out AND decided to lock some mega stones behind competitive, my interest has almost completely died.
Re: Nintendo's Out To Get $4,500,000 In Damages From Ongoing Switch Piracy Case
@AllBLK I do agree with that sentiment of punishing people for pirating modern games but not ruining their lives completely, I think 4.5 million is a ridiculous amount. And I agree with your take on retro game piracy. As far as I'm concerned, if a company isn't planning on making something available for consumers to obtain legally anymore, they should lose their rights to that particular piece and it should enter the public domain early. There's no reason to sit on an IP or not re-release older titles but still get mad at people for finding less official ways of playing them
Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
This seemed crazy to me until I remembered there's a lot of people that basically just buy every years new CoD and/or FIFA, so they're probably influencing that statistic quite a bit. Plus the people that have GamePass and probably dont buy many games cause of it. Still, if we're including games that go on sale I'm probably about 5 to 6 a year
Re: Nintendo's Out To Get $4,500,000 In Damages From Ongoing Switch Piracy Case
@AllBLK I'm all about pirating older games and ragging on bootlickers, but I feel like Nintendo is super justified in going after people pirating current gen games. They cant exactly continue to exist if people start pirating newer releases and they start bleeding money.
Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me
I really did not like MKW all that much.
Re: "OpenAI Is Trying To Get Sued" - Nintendo IP Floods Sora 2 Video Generation App
My goodness I'm so sick of AI, I would absolutely love for Nintendo to use their Lawyer Ninjas to sue OpenAI into the ground over this.
Re: Inti Creates Unveils New "Paper Craft" 2D Action Game For Switch 2, Out October
@Supaguy I agree with fan service being kind of a turn-off (haha) for a lot of games and shows, though I do think the fan service here doesn't look like it'll be TOO much for me to be able to enjoy the game.
Re: Japanese Charts: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Can't Compete With Mario Kart World
@Supaguy I agree, MK World did not look appealing to me, and after playing the demo I was even less interested. So I picked this up on my Steam Deck since the Switch 2 version isn't ready and I am absolutely loving it.
Re: Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch) - Cracking Karting, But Struggles To Keep Up On Switch
Re: Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch) - Cracking Karting, But Struggles To Keep Up On Switch
