Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?

GgGames

Oh boy another opportunity to gush about this game!

Ok look, I absolutely understand why people did not like this on release. The controls are admittedly weird and difficult to get use to. However I believe that if you give it an honest shot and push through, and it manages to eventually click with you, you'll be treated to an absolutely awesome experience! It's genuinely one of my favorite Star Fox/Wii U games. It didn't take long for it to click with me and when it did, it felt almost like achieving a flow state like with Pragmata. People complained about having to look at both screens but that's why I love it. Having to juggle which screen I'm looking at to make sure I'm aware of my surroundings and avoid obstacles added a really fun layer of complexity and changed up the gameplay in a unique way. I do think a lot of people gave up on it or wrote it off too quickly, cause it "looked confusing." If you have an opportunity to try it out I highly recommend doing so!

Re: Poll: Super Mario Galaxy Movie Characters Compared, Film Vs. Game Designs - Which Are Best?

GgGames

Honestly I felt there was a decent mix of Game vs Movie for me. though the movie ones were usually characters that haven't been seen since the switch to HD. But even then when I chose Game, I didn't hate or even strongly dislike any of them. Yoshi I didn't like and I can't even explain why.
SPOILER ALERT
But Daisy...? Holy heck. I hate everything about it. The dress seems kinda off, maybe its the material? Her skin color seems like they were trying to lean into it always being hinted at her being a different ethnicity but screwed up and just made her look like she got the worst spray tan job ever. Her hair looks like it got hit with DLSS 5. And her head is freaking huge! Like how on earth did they fumble the design this hard when everything else was pretty decent looking including the other princesses looking fantastic!?

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Want From A New Star Fox Game?

GgGames

I'll tell you what I DON'T want. Another game that just remakes/retells the same story all over again. Zero was a reimagining of 64 which was a retelling of the og and I just want something new. Yes I know the last time we got something new was Command and that story had a lot of haters (I also wasn't a huge fan of it) but before that we also got Star Fox Assault which is my personal favorite in the series. And as much as I would absolutely love another game just like that, mixing air combat with occasional ground segments, I understand thats not as popular with the general Star Fox fanbase. So as long as the gameplay is mostly the same on-rails combat with a new original story, I'll be happy.

Re: Nintendo's Apparently Cutting US Switch 2 Output After Lower Than Expected Holiday Sales

GgGames

Doesn't surprise me that console sales are slowing down. The price took a lot of people back, and there wasn't a lot at launch so most early adopters were big Nintendo fans or hype-train followers while most consumers have likely been more hesitant. That combined with the fact that most people that aren't die-hard Nintendo fans just don't seem to give AF at all about those Switch 2 Edition games.

Re: UK Charts: Resident Evil Requiem Switch 2 Sales Comparable To Cyberpunk 2077

GgGames

Can't help but wonder if digital key card is the reason for such a low percentage. I mean yes I'm sure it sold pretty well, but when you look at the percentages, it sold a lower percentage than it did on the xbox, a dying console thats being slowly abandoned by its own company. Especially when the Switch 2 is the hot new thing, device-wise. The only things I can think of is that either Nintendo fans overall arent big on Resi (which the online space has me feeling is the opposite of that) or that any game, big name or not, is immediately given a sales handicap the moment consumers see GKC on the box...

Re: Review: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (Switch) - Red-Hot Nostalgia In A So-So Wrapper

GgGames

Pokemon Company had 2 different ways they could've gone about selling these as standalone that would've worked, and they did neither, fumbling this release hard. They could've either released them at $20 but add a lot more work into them by allowing you to complete the full dex with 1 game, add borders, have Home support on release, and other emulation pluses like fast forwarding. OR they could've just put the bare minimum into it like they did but charge only $10. They instead chose the worst of both worlds, making this a mediocre release that also costs more than it has any right to.

Re: Pokémon Presents February 2026: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

GgGames

So, as someone who's kind of been hating on the mainline Pokemon games since Sword & Shield, this one (visually speaking) looks REALLY good! I really liked the openness of Scarlet and Violet, but unfortunately that was pretty much the only thing I liked about it. So as long as this game has that same feeling of fun exploration, I can see this actually being REALLY good!

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

GgGames

The XL's are just too big imo, and the regular 2ds is so cheap-feeling and not very comfortable to hold. I know the New 3ds is technically just an objective improvement, but I still voted regular 3ds cause it just felt so awesome to get one for the first time. The 3ds had such an awesome library, and the New 3ds really didn't get a whole lot of exclusives so I feel like the regular 3ds was a better bargain.

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Pokémon Pokopia

GgGames

Lol cant believe there's this many people jumping down @Anti-Matter 's throat over expressing the (apparently) crazy opinion that any physical game where purchasing it means the game isn't even on the cartridge makes it not worth the purchase at all.
Actually, I guess it's not that crazy. Sometimes I forget a lot of Nintendo fans are absolutely incapable of hearing any sort of criticism directed at Nintendo without frothing at the mouth at the chance to jump to the defense of a multi-billion dollar corporation that only cares about maximizing profits by any means necessary.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario Tennis Fever For Switch 2?

GgGames

@PharoneTheGnome Agreed. When I think of a family sports game, I think of games with good value that have an alright amount of content to keep myself or the family entertained for a little while. Which runs antithetical to my (and frankly a lot of peoples) perception of what a $70 game should entail. For $70 I'm expecting the highest level of quality, and plenty of content.

Re: GDC Survey Shows Switch 2 Is Proving To Be A Desirable Platform For Developers

GgGames

@SalvorHardin What are you talking about? I never said the PS5 wasn't desirable. I just said it wasn't a good look that the Switch 2 was the hot new thing and its desirability was less than or equal to devices that are older, one of which (the PS5) probably doesn't have a whole lot longer before its sequel console comes out. Yes there's rumors that the PS6 release will be delayed because of the RAM issues, but even then if its only by a few years the PS5 is still in the back half of its life.

Re: GDC Survey Shows Switch 2 Is Proving To Be A Desirable Platform For Developers

GgGames

This honestly seems not that impressive to me. PC Being so high is kind of expected though I did not expect it to be THIS high. But Switch 2 ranks 4th. It's the hot new thing and its still in terms of popularity with developers slightly behind not just the PS5 (a console that at this point doesn't have much longer before its time for the next generation), and the Steam Deck, another handheld device thats just a glorified Linux device with a significantly smaller userbase than any other device on the top half of this list.

Re: Opinion: I'm Happy amiibo Survived The Console Jump, But These Unlocks Are Getting Silly

GgGames

When amiibo were $12 or even $15 it was easy for me to go "Oh thats a no brainer, of course I'll get a bunch of amiibos! A cool little figure for that cheap that gives me cool stuff in the game too? Sign me up!"
But now with the prices getting so high, I'm thinking to myself that I'll only get one if-
1) I think it looks really cool
2) its for a series I really like
3) it gives game rewards I'm actually into.
And big shocker, I don't think I've seen a single amiibo the past 3 or 4 years that has actually satisfied all 3 of those prerequisites.

Re: Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period

GgGames

I could be wrong but I feel like Switch 2 sales are due to slow down real bad pretty soon here unless they release a major heavy hitter thats gonna blow people away. It seems like a lot of Switch 2 owners were major fans to begin with or jumped onto the hype train. I even feel like I see a noticeably larger number of people saying they regret their purchase than I did when the Switch 1 came out. The die-hard fans and hype-train riders already bought the system so all thats really left is the avergae consumers that probably either cant afford the $450, don't think the upgrade is worth it, or just aren't interested in enough of the exclusives currently out.

Re: Random: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Wins GameStop's "Worst Game Of The Year" Award

GgGames

Lol all the people in these comments defending a mediocre, glorified mini game collection that has no right costing as much as it does. Is it the worst game of the year? Definitely not. Does it deserve to get ridiculed and made fun of for being another example of how modern Nintendo has become extremely anti-consumer? Absolutely. This should have been a pack-in game to show what the system is capable of.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

GgGames

I'm really not trying to be a hater here, but... It's just alright. A solid 7, maybe a 6 on Switch 2 only cause I would expect more visually from a $70 Switch 2 version. Though I will say the game graphically on the base Switch is genuinely impressive given the hardware. Though that shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did, considering how much the Prime 1 Remaster blew me away too.
Prime 4 is good, it really is. There's just some stuff that really holds it back from being on the same level or even near the same level as the previous entries. A lot of people excuse the desert area, but I genuinely cant stand it. It just feels so tacked on, like it only exists to pad the runtime and make you think the game is longer and bigger than it actually is. (Which it really didnt even need. Without the desert the game would be admittedly pretty short, but that isn't always a bad thing)
Myles knocks an entire point off for me. I know he's not as prevalent as I initially feared, but his existence is so aggravating, I stop having fun when he's talking.

Re: Video: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Stuns On Switch 2 In This Side-By-Side Comparison

GgGames

@OldGamer999 Unfortunately I have to agree about faith in Nintendo kinda slowly dropping ever since the release of the Switch 2. I feel like they as a company have just been slowly becoming worse and worse since then. They use to have their issues but still be overall better and more consumer-friendly than a lot of others but it feels like they're slowly becoming not only just like the other crappy companies but also becoming more like Apple with severely over-valuing themselves in the name of maximizing profits.

Re: Video: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Stuns On Switch 2 In This Side-By-Side Comparison

GgGames

Aside from the resolution bump, the only real difference I'm seeing is SOME textures and effects seem to definitely be a higher resolution. For Switch 1 this actually is a pretty impressive looking game just like the Prime 1 Remaster. But for Switch 2 I definitely expected more. And I don't really buy the "Cross-Platform" argument since there've been plenty of cross platform games in the past that had much bigger visual differences in the newer gen versions.
