Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Firework Sequence In A Video Game?

GgGames

Gotta be that scene in Pokemon X&Y for me personally. I remember going to the midnight release for this game and staying up playing it with my friends all night. I distinctly remember that scene too. I'm not sure why, there's nothing particularly special about it. But teenage me was having so much fun with the first ever fully 3D handheld pokemon game, and so that scene just stuck with me!

Re: Nintendo On Why The Mario Kart World Album Isn't Available For Nintendo Music

GgGames

I totally get the argument of it taking time and effort. You cant just upload the audio files. You've gotta make sure they're properly sliced and set up for seamless looping, you've gotta give it a cover art, you need to figure out what playlists to add it to or create for it to be put into. There's more to it than just dumping it onto the service. But it should not have taken this long. Especially with that quote, this just screams of "Dont release it until it would be the most profitable to drum up interest again."

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward

GgGames

@kal_el_07241 Thats great for the people that pick the game up during the time period where you can get it. What about the people who pick the game up later? It's okay that they just don't get access to those mega evolutions all cause they didnt get the game right off? Or the people who just straight up dont want anything to do with competitive? These should've just been obtainable in the normal game, not online competitive.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

GgGames

The switch 2 version having better performance is nice and all, but better performance alone cant save how much this game has let me down. The visuals themselves are enough for me to give this a pretty bad score. The game takes place in a single city, and they couldn't even make the city look any better than an early PS2 game?! Not to mention the city itself just is not fun to explore or traverse. Charging $70 for this should be a crime. The gameplay isnt much better either, its better than normal Pokemon but its still just not that interesting. I feel like this game is being held up entirely by 3 things; the die-hard fans that will accept garbage slop as long as it has the word "Pokemon" slapped next to it, the admittedly decent story and characters (which is still hampered by the complete lack of voice acting), and how much genuine fun it is to dress up your character.

Re: One Of 2024's Nuttiest Indie Games Shoots Onto Switch 2 Next Month

GgGames

@itsapossum What does Palworld have to do with this? Anachronism was talking about the Switch having a copycat ripoff game of this already, which is a thing that regularly happens whenever an indie game on PC gets really popular. It happened with Supermarket Simulator, it happened with Unpacking, heck it even happened with Palworld getting a Switch ripoff on the Eshop.

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

GgGames

I'm probably not gonna get this game mostly due to both announcing DLC well before the game was even out and also locking some mega evolutions behind participating in competitive which I have no interest in, but this review makes my decision sting just a tad bit more. It seems like it would be fun. Probably not $70 fun, but fun nonetheless. And I absolutely agree with the game needing voice acting. Ever since Pokemon moved to the Switch, I've been baffled that they haven't even bothered to do a small amount of it. Voice acting would truly heighten the experience and make it finally feel like Pokemon has finally moved to the next generation. It would also make the games so much more accessible as so many young gamers are held back with their enjoyment by their limited reading comprehension.

Re: Nintendo's Out To Get $4,500,000 In Damages From Ongoing Switch Piracy Case

GgGames

@AllBLK I do agree with that sentiment of punishing people for pirating modern games but not ruining their lives completely, I think 4.5 million is a ridiculous amount. And I agree with your take on retro game piracy. As far as I'm concerned, if a company isn't planning on making something available for consumers to obtain legally anymore, they should lose their rights to that particular piece and it should enter the public domain early. There's no reason to sit on an IP or not re-release older titles but still get mad at people for finding less official ways of playing them

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?

GgGames

This seemed crazy to me until I remembered there's a lot of people that basically just buy every years new CoD and/or FIFA, so they're probably influencing that statistic quite a bit. Plus the people that have GamePass and probably dont buy many games cause of it. Still, if we're including games that go on sale I'm probably about 5 to 6 a year

Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me

GgGames

I really did not like MKW all that much. It was enjoyable but not nearly as fun as most of the other Mario Karts I've played, and the controls just felt kinda off. SRCW, even though it doesn't have nearly as much content overall, feels a lot more fun (not quite as much fun as MK8 & All-Stars Racing Transformed though.) I ended up selling MKW but I think I'll get a lot of playtime out of SRCW

Re: Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch) - Cracking Karting, But Struggles To Keep Up On Switch

GgGames

@Sonicka Idk a lot of those intro shots where you see the environment outside the track really give off the vibe of the game being built with the Switch's weaker hardware in mind. Even on stronger hardware like the PS5, while the game looks better, the environments visuals don't quite hold up compared to the other Sonic games in the last few years that definitely were just backported to the Switch.

Re: Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch) - Cracking Karting, But Struggles To Keep Up On Switch

GgGames

It's crazy to me that it runs so poorly considering how obvious it is that this game was designed initially for the Switch and just ported with improvements to the other systems. I got it on PC for my Steam Deck and it honestly runs better than I expected. No resolution scaling needed, with every setting on High except Occlusion on Low makes it run at a locked stable 60 fps

Re: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer

GgGames

@somnambulance What are you talking about?? Xenoblade was a literal actual remaster. Completely new models and massively improved visuals, that's an awful comparison. Also, what parts of the internet were you on?? People definitely complained about Skyward Sword, and Sonic Colors got almost exclusively complaints for how awful and low effort it was. And 3D All-Stars was 3 games for $60. $20 each is a way better value. None of your comparisons actually make any sense with what you're trying to argue dude

Re: Nintendo Wins $2 Million Lawsuit Against 'MiG Switch' Distributor

GgGames

@SirLink I agree with everything you said there, I think companies have no right to go after people pirating older games that quite literally cant be sold in a way that they profit off of anymore. But if people keep trying to push game piracy to the point of affecting games still actively being released and sitting on store shelves, it's eventually gonna lead to governments stepping in to stop it. And when they do, I highly doubt they'll make caveats for older games, they'll likely just ban piracy outright

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Checking Out Switch Online's Virtual Boy Service?

GgGames

I have to not only pay for the more expensive version of the monthly subscription, but I also have to pay either $25 or $100 for a peripheral just to play headache-inducing games from a failed system? Yeah count me out. They absolutely could've figured out a way to let us play them without that peripheral, this is just lazy and money-hungry.

Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories

GgGames

I feel like Nintendo is once again falling into the pit of "They'll buy anything we shove out there" like they did with the WiiU. Only real difference is this time it seems like the general public is actually somehow more okay with these weird decisions. If this was entirely optional I'd understand, but the fact that your only option to play games you're already having to pay a subscription to access anyway is to pay either $25 or $100 for a peripheral is insane. This, and the ridiculously high cost of the newer amiibo has me thinking being a fan of Nintendo is too expensive and not really worth it anymore.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Forsaken (N64)

GgGames

The NA one at least kinda shows its post apocalyptic. And its so strange looking it probably got a couple of double takes. The EU one though looks kinda boring and honestly similar to Mortal Kombat so if I saw that one I think I'd put it back out of annoyance.

Re: Nintendo Wins $2 Million Lawsuit Against 'MiG Switch' Distributor

GgGames

I'm all for game piracy. But when the games you're pirating are still being sold on store shelves for a console that is still actively being supported, thats where it massively crosses the line. Not to sound like a bootlicker though, I'm not trying to defend a multi-billion dollar company. But if people keep pushing game piracy too far, eventually they're gonna ruin it for the rest of us that just wanna play older games you cant get anymore without paying an arm and a leg for a used copy that usually doesnt even have a case or manual.

Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

GgGames

@jsty3105 So you're saying Nintendo saw all the people picking random, and changed how it works so that people can't do what they were wanting to do while simultaneously being completely unaware of why people were picking random? The fact that they changed how it works explicitly to not be able to do 3-lap tracks anymore already proves that they did know, because otherwise why would they change it to begin with, and why would they change specifically that part?

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed

GgGames

I haven't review bombed it, but I am also pretty disappointed. Nintendo saw that people were unhappy with online so much so that they found a work around to play the game how they want it to be, and instead of doing something to help that problem, they doubled down and essentially made online way worse for a lot of people. If I wasn't outside my return period already I would've returned the game where I got it as I genuinely do not enjoy the traveling to the next track on a boring straightaway just to play 1 lap of an actual track. I'm sure some people don't mind, but for me I just have no interest in playing online anymore. They should've just had the intermittent tracks for Knockout as it makes sense there, but in regular online I wanna play the actual tracks, not the boring traveling in between.

Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

GgGames

Nintendo: "Hmm, people keep picking random in races so they don't have to do the intermittent parts which seem to be universally disliked. Maybe we should address this so people can play the full courses online like they clearly want to...? Nah, lets double down and make the game objectively worse for nearly all players!"
Classic Nintendo.
