@Solid_Python yea pardon me for having media literacy, but the negative spin on every article is exhausting. We get enough fake rhetoric on X to not be having to force corrections out of Nintendo LIfe too.
@EAFB1999 there is a solid "variable framerate" performance mode that by all accounts is pretty good and relatively stable between 50-60fps. for whatever reason "Nintendo Life" is doing their best to bury this information
@Tasuki i can second that. the controller looks and feels so premium. I have kept them around for the switch 2 because they are just a touch under pro quality. I will be picking these up out of respect.
This review spends the first entire paragraph talking about 30 fps and making comparisons to PS5, then adds the variable frame rate mode as a short footnote in the beginning of the second paragraph, only to never mention anything about how its implemented and then cite the games main issue as 30fps while having strongly recommending everyone play the game at 30. its like they did everything to tell you the port was solid while trying to simulaneously dissuade you from buying it lol
I see the a lot staff hiding of their playtime or having a shockingly low amount of playtime to be working at at Nintendo Site. Shout out to Alana putting in work though.
I ended the year with 41 games played and 800 hours. 90% of which were on Switch 2.
My top 3 most played were Wild Hearts S (103 hrs) Hades 2 (95 hrs) Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (90 hrs)
You cant convince me that Bandai Namco is not intentionally half assing their output to Switch 2. They of all Japanese companies have not offered ANYTHING in the way of upgrades or proper switch two ports for a single game. Not DB kakarot, Sparking zero is 30 fps, everybody golf was dreadful, Freedom wars no Switch 2 version, Cant get Elden ring out to save their lives, and now another 30 fps release with no Switch 2 version in site. No ports of games like Scarlet Nexus or Tales of Arise which seem like a pretty easy sales boost. Nothing. I expected them to be one of the better publishers in terms of switch 2 support this generation and so far they are the worst.
@Solid_Python getting tired of this sites negative spin on everything. I thought this was a place for fans of Nintendo to get new about a platform we ALL ENJOY. These articles sound like they are written by people who play primarily on Playstation or PC.
@Tyranexx there will be no change. people aren't not buying PS5 in japan because its too expensive, they aren't buying it because they don't want it.
I think them finally acknowledging their "home market" 5 years into the generation solely because they are getting curb stomped by Nintendo is not something that is lost on Japanese people
I sincerely believe that they will not put out a Switch 2 update for Rise because it will be the official death knell for any further interest in rise. I would happily go back to the endgame in Rise over whatever the hell Wilds Endgame has become.
I noticed that noone has mentioned toshinden 3 which is the absolute best in the series and very underrated. It was overshadowed by Soul Edge at the time but it was so good and the sound track >>>>
@Rosona Mario Is a video game character, not a merchandise brand. Pokemon is a card game and merchandise company that needs to constantly have new monsters to market..and pikachu.
@Destiny-Smasher I agree its hard to tell who its made for now but would it surprise you to learn that Pokémon makes more money selling merchandise than they do selling video games? I think the games only purpose at this point is being a vessel to have more monsters to make more merch out of lol the truth is that the games aren't a priority or even the most official representation of the brand so our demands for "more" from them are going to fall on deaf ears.
@riccyjay Perhaps, Pokemon is made to appeal to children, who are largely less discerning than adults considering most people complaining have been pokemon fans for 20+ years. Games like Celeste and Shovel Knight are retro styled and made to appeal to adult enjoyers of retro games. Are you not understanding? Pokemon fans want the product to grow with them but they have all grown out of the target demographic so they are way more critical than they need to be. its made for kids, kids like Roblox.
@riccyjay From what the review says the GAMEPLAY is great and the story is fine. The major issue is visuals and scope, 2 things that generally should not be an expectation of a Pokémon game. Pokémon is evolved from a Gameboy game that most people got into at 7 years old, but now you got a bunch of 40 year old jaded graphics whores crying about Pokémon's visuals. lol THATS what's weird.
I guess NintendoLife wanted to earn some cool points for rating the game lower than non Nintendo sites because pros aside they were expecting checks notes great visuals? Lol theres noway anyone had seen this game in previews etc up to this point and comes in expecting impressive visuals . This site is really starting to think its digital foundry
Haven't seen a playstation game title crack 100k units in a single week in a while. That's a very impressive first week for Ghost of Yotei. I wonder if it will keep its momentum
I stand by the idea that Sony Invested in Bandai Namco in order to TANK THEIR SWITCH 2 PORTS. their support or lack their of for next gen features that should work EASILY on switch 2 is baffling. Anime games cant run at a solid 60 fps on switch 2? Sparking zero 30 fps? now hot shots golf? Something is off.
finished the game yesterday and I didn't notice any visual or framerate issues although it lands at about an 8 out of 10 for me as well. great game just not perfect but I don't think there were any glaring issues. will go back for 100% most definitely.
so i have this game and i actually really enjoy it. I pick it up and put it down for random periods of time but ive held off finishing it because of the constant influx of DLC characters. The only thing is, I never see them market any additional story content. Does anyone know if these character packs add any new missions?
@The_Nintend_Pedant the key word is AVERAGES sir because just like you said they can flat out say they're targeting 30 fps. being that they mentioned an average for switch 1 and stated that the game will benefit from switch 2 hardware one could assume that the frame rate is uncapped, and that it shouldnt be a problem for the switch 2 to hit 60fps
@The_Nintend_Pedant thats not exactly how averages or uncapped framerates work. its far more likely that it has moments around 60 and moments arouond 20 but spends most time around 33-35 fps on the Switch 1. The switch 2 will probably run at its potential 60 fps with little to no drops.
they said "averages" =(+/-) 30 fps which probably means that the frame rate is uncapped and the game will run at 60 on switch 2. I think this is a non concern honestly.
the only way we are going to get away from Key cards is if we reluctantly accept the $80 price point for Physical games. I have been beaten down to this level, it took them one month and i no longer care. PLEASE JUST NO MORE KEY CARDS
I remember when this happened on Twitter, alot of PS fans with agendas drove that campaign to Boycott Bayonetta. I was so hyped for Bayo 3 and people really tried to rain on the parade. it was sh*tty
@LEGEND_MARIOID 20 plus hours in and i just got a new kamek unlock yesterday and still got a few more to go. they will be RNG hell for somebody out here lol
