Re: Nintendo's 330M+ User Accounts Will Be Foundation Of "Lasting Relationship With Consumers"

I wonder if Switch 2 will be the generation they realise why everyone else has an achievement system. Better late than never. Actually not in this case, because they'd have to add achievements to thousands of games or have a system where only 1% of games have achievements, rendering it pointless, but that's what you get when you lag 3 generations behind your competition out of pure obstinence. They did the exact same thing with online multiplayer, thinking they were special and above it, and look what happened. They eventually did it anyway, only now they absolutely suck at it because they are generations behind.

Re: Super Mario RPG Switch Is Getting A Physical SNES Style Instruction Manual

Frogspree

@Sisilly_G It's not about actual utility, it's about getting a substantial products a tangible item, something somebody took care over. It's about not paying more to get less than we got 30 years ago. There is nothing special anymore about buying a game when it's got "download required" or "premium day one collector's edition for ultra super deluxe suckers" plastered over half the artwork, the inside is just plain white like I printed off the insert myself on an inkjet from 2003, and of course no manual.

Re: Wario's New Voice Actor Seems To Be Confirmed

Frogspree

Sounds good enough to me. When can we get a Mario game with Wario as the villain or another Wario Land game. Maybe the next Mario movie will have Wario, then we can get some games rushed out to capitalise on it, like with the Peach game etc

Re: Exclusive: Gorgeous New 'Snufkin: Melody Of Moominvalley' Trailer Confirms Switch Release

Like Are, I fell in love with the anime (before we even knew it was Japanese lol), which used to be on in the morning before we went to school. Later I read the books and they were a lot like the Winnie the Pooh books which I had already been an enormous fan of for years. The art style for this game looks like a terrific choice. A painterly style by itself can still look overly clean and digital (maybe because we're so used to indie games with this style now), but they've somehow made it look like it's been lifted straight off those musty old pages of the books, which carries the nostalgia of physically holding this world in your hands.

Re: Atari Acquires Retro Specialist Digital Eclipse

Atari Anniversary Celebration sounds amazing, and the kind of thing only games can do with their history. I just hope they do it with a company or series I actually care about next, although being owned by Atari now probably makes that unlikely.

Re: Talking Point: Which Version Of Super Mario Bros. 3 Do You Prefer?

Frogspree

Any game I can think of, I prefer the graphics of NES originals. The more detailed 16 bit style never appealed to me (even though I love the look of games that were originally 16 bit). Worse yet though is the stuff like the Dragon Quest remasters that look like cheap mobile crap. I don't see why they can't offer the originals alongside the remakes, or better yet included with them.

Re: Random: This Drink Driving Game Is A Nasty Blemish On The Switch eShop

Frogspree

In this clown ass country you can drink drive and actually kill people in real life and get away with a slap on the wrist and your license handed back on a silver platter like it's a god given right. So I guess it only makes sense to teach kids from a young age that drink driving is no biggie, just make sure you have fun, don't worry about anyone else, even if they are bouncing off your bonnet.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder And Sonic Superstars Start Strong, But Neither Can Out-Swing Spidey

Frogspree

@westman98 True. Also, any hype for Mario probably translates into sales across the whole franchise, and there are a bunch of Mario games on the Switch, even before you get to spin offs. If people were pumped for Mario after seeing the movie they probably already bought one of those other games lol. Whereas Spider-man fans have had the original game and Miles Morales and that's it until now. Still... dem install bases...

Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder And Sonic Superstars Start Strong, But Neither Can Out-Swing Spidey

Frogspree

That just seems weird given that the switch's install base is nearly 100 million higher than the PS5's. Mario also has a lot wider appeal than Spiderman, I would have thought. And this is coming after the mario movie, which grossed as much as an MCU (and actually outgrossed the Spiderman movies except No Way Home). I can't see this as anything but strange and disappointing. I'd guess Wonder will sell more in the long run as Nintendo games tend to do, but I also wonder (heheh) whether the release of the Switch 2 might cut those sales short, even if it is backwards compatible.
