Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Releasing Two New Versions Of Switch This Year

Exciter89

@Shambo you're not alone. 3D was the best innovation for gaming ever. I liked Odyssey, but no where near as much as 3D Land. It was so easy to judge depth and distance in that game, you knew exactly when you were under a block, exactly when you were above an enemy etc. Odyssey had all of that taken away and the experience was hindered because of it. I can't tell you how often I died as a result of not being able to judge how far to jump etc.

Re: Dead Cells Surpasses One Million Sales, Switch Version Leads The Way On Console

Sundered Eldritch Edition is currently on sale in Russia for £3 odd. £17 over here. I enjoyed it more than Dead Cells which has a very similar mechanic in that you get stronger with each run through due to a skill tree being available to develop after each death. One of my favourite games ever on switch and at only £3 you'd be fact not to try it if you're a fan of dead cells

Re: Talking Point: What Does Google's Stadia Mean For Nintendo And The Future Of Gaming?

I'll use it for AAA games if the subscription is no more than £15 a month. I can't stand spending £50 on a new title for it to be lacklustre and only getting £30 back for it in trade in value. At least with this I'll be able to try and play as many top games as I want until I enjoy one, and as long as I play one decent game a month then that's my money's worth. As long as the Switch doesn't get abandoned as the indie machine and the top indie devs don't switch their focus to Stadia then I'm happy with both platforms

I'll use it for AAA content. I'd rather not spend £50 on a new game to try and it and not like it. I'd much rather be able to click a button, try it and jump straight in if it's only £15 a month or similar. It will also not require me to spend £350+ on the PS5. And I can game on the go, the sole reason I love the Switch so much. As someone who rarely buys games physically it makes sense from every stand point.

Super One More Jump is one of the best games I've played on Switch. It is so addictive, and the sheer amount of stages, modes (including co-op and versus modes), replayability etc is staggering for a small price point. It gets a 10 from me and I'd recommend it to everyone. It's under £4 on the South African eshop at the moment.

@OorWullie Owlboy is another classic! Agreed, not on the same level as Hollow Knight but the sprite work and lovable characters were enough to keep me going. However some segments were the some of the most memorable I've ever had in platforming. Going to give Iconoclasts a go next as apparently it has a similar feel.

Got Guacamelee to try next though as I picked it up in a sale, and if you like metroidvanias I'd recommend Sundered. Amazing art direction, satisfying story, excellent combat and upgrades, 15 hours to complete, 3 different endings each with different bosses etc. Completed it twice for two endings and each play through was vastly different because the powerups you earn on the way are completely different if you want to go for the different endings.

£5.09 on the Russian eshop, £16 over here!

@OorWullie I got to the end on my own in 31 hours, 86% completion for the basic ending. After that I used a guide on how to get the Void Heart, watched a speed runner do the White Palace, used a guide to get the last 4-5 charms etc. So I've cheated my way round for the last few hours but I've still loved every moment of it. I've not beat Grimm yet, he's the most ridiculous boss I've ever come across! So fast! Need to do him though for the last notch!

Re: Looks Like Hollow Knight Is Also Getting A Physical Edition In Europe

@OorWullie Exactly the same here! Played 11 hours when it first came out in June 2018 (on Switch). Got as far as beating the Soul Master in Soul Sanctum and after that had no idea where to go or what to do... Finally started again about two weeks ago, now clocked 36 hours, 100% last night and also defeated the Hollow Knight to get the second ending. Going to get the true ending tonight hopefully, then start on the Godmaster DLC. My number 1 game of all time, and that's saying something considering how much I loved BOTW!

Re: Feature: The Best Metroidvania Games On Nintendo Switch

@damo Dandara would be worth adding to the list, especially since the update. I'd encourage anyone who was discouraged by the difficulty level to go back and have another go. That's what I did and I wasn't disappointed. The map being able to now be orientated to the direction the character is facing is the greatest improvement and the way you move between platforms is much smarter this time around aswell, ie the game seems to just 'know' where you want to jump to without having to directly point towards it.
