@The_Keywork in today's gaming world? Who'd have thought that Nintendo and Microsoft would be collaborating this time last year? Nothing is beyond the realms of possibility
@patbacknitro18 Yacht Club haven't developed it, they've just offered publishing services and advice to the developer (Mechanical Head). Obviously YC are still working on King of Cards and Showdown. No doubt they'll have their next proper project already in the works.
Need an Image & Form Direct to give us some sort of features run through and tutorial. I need convincing that this card mechanic is for me to make this a day one purchase.
Make sure to hold a sale at different times to Cuphead. Maybe even offer a sale if you pre order it or something. I think it looks great and I'll be getting it!
Is it basically just like a boss rush type of game or are there platforming levels aswell?
Who really is going to be happy about shelling out another £300 for a Switch. It's not so bad when the resale value of the current Switch is so high but once the new models get announced expect your Switch value to drop dramatically.
@Shambo you're not alone. 3D was the best innovation for gaming ever. I liked Odyssey, but no where near as much as 3D Land. It was so easy to judge depth and distance in that game, you knew exactly when you were under a block, exactly when you were above an enemy etc. Odyssey had all of that taken away and the experience was hindered because of it. I can't tell you how often I died as a result of not being able to judge how far to jump etc.
Sundered Eldritch Edition is currently on sale in Russia for £3 odd. £17 over here. I enjoyed it more than Dead Cells which has a very similar mechanic in that you get stronger with each run through due to a skill tree being available to develop after each death. One of my favourite games ever on switch and at only £3 you'd be fact not to try it if you're a fan of dead cells
@pinta_vodki I've even considered start a new save file and going again. I've ordered the collectors edition so will go back to it once that arrives. Can't wait for Silksong
Hollow Knight has left a gaping hole in my gaming heart. After 50 hours of play, it has set the bar so high that any other platformer or metroidvania feels so lacklustre. I'm yet to try The Messenger or Iconoclasts, hopefully one of them manages to fill the void.
@BenAV what is the time and dates for the eshop updates? I check savecoins everyday and new games constantly pop up regardless of day of the week etc so wasn't aware there was such a thing.
Love the art style, don't mind the cards, but always enjoy turn based battles more when there's some sort of additional input required, such as Paper Mario Thousand Yea Door or Stick Of Truth.
On sale aswell. Which brings me to this point. I can't express how gutted I was to see that Iconoclasts was on sale during the Nindies Showcase, to then find out that it's only on sale in NA! Fancy showing all of them games as on sale for half of them to apply to NA only!
I can't wait to hear Microsofts reasoning behind it. We all know why, but I'd still like to hear their take on why Cuphead makes such a great fit on the Switch. I'd also love to know who approached who first.
@Ttimer5 That would be a dream come true, he has all of the abilities required... Vengeful spirit would be B, Crystal Heart would be side B, howling wraiths up B, Desolate Dive down B, up B could just be his cyclone attack similar to Link... He's made for it!
I'll use it for AAA games if the subscription is no more than £15 a month. I can't stand spending £50 on a new title for it to be lacklustre and only getting £30 back for it in trade in value. At least with this I'll be able to try and play as many top games as I want until I enjoy one, and as long as I play one decent game a month then that's my money's worth. As long as the Switch doesn't get abandoned as the indie machine and the top indie devs don't switch their focus to Stadia then I'm happy with both platforms
I'll use it for AAA content. I'd rather not spend £50 on a new game to try and it and not like it. I'd much rather be able to click a button, try it and jump straight in if it's only £15 a month or similar. It will also not require me to spend £350+ on the PS5. And I can game on the go, the sole reason I love the Switch so much. As someone who rarely buys games physically it makes sense from every stand point.
Super One More Jump is one of the best games I've played on Switch. It is so addictive, and the sheer amount of stages, modes (including co-op and versus modes), replayability etc is staggering for a small price point. It gets a 10 from me and I'd recommend it to everyone. It's under £4 on the South African eshop at the moment.
@OorWullie Owlboy is another classic! Agreed, not on the same level as Hollow Knight but the sprite work and lovable characters were enough to keep me going. However some segments were the some of the most memorable I've ever had in platforming. Going to give Iconoclasts a go next as apparently it has a similar feel.
Got Guacamelee to try next though as I picked it up in a sale, and if you like metroidvanias I'd recommend Sundered. Amazing art direction, satisfying story, excellent combat and upgrades, 15 hours to complete, 3 different endings each with different bosses etc. Completed it twice for two endings and each play through was vastly different because the powerups you earn on the way are completely different if you want to go for the different endings.
@OorWullie I got to the end on my own in 31 hours, 86% completion for the basic ending. After that I used a guide on how to get the Void Heart, watched a speed runner do the White Palace, used a guide to get the last 4-5 charms etc. So I've cheated my way round for the last few hours but I've still loved every moment of it. I've not beat Grimm yet, he's the most ridiculous boss I've ever come across! So fast! Need to do him though for the last notch!
@OorWullie Exactly the same here! Played 11 hours when it first came out in June 2018 (on Switch). Got as far as beating the Soul Master in Soul Sanctum and after that had no idea where to go or what to do... Finally started again about two weeks ago, now clocked 36 hours, 100% last night and also defeated the Hollow Knight to get the second ending. Going to get the true ending tonight hopefully, then start on the Godmaster DLC. My number 1 game of all time, and that's saying something considering how much I loved BOTW!
@Monkeido well I'm about to order two copies for me and my brother and it says that Royal Mail MAY charge me £16, but thats based on $217 worth as we are also ordering the Wanderer's Journal.
@nintendorules exactly this! This needs to be the new model of consoles forever. We don't need any new fancy gimmicks now. Just give us a Switch 2 with a higher res screen, bigger battery, more storage, thinner, lighter, more powerful all round... I'd love for there to be a 3D version.
@damo Dandara would be worth adding to the list, especially since the update. I'd encourage anyone who was discouraged by the difficulty level to go back and have another go. That's what I did and I wasn't disappointed. The map being able to now be orientated to the direction the character is facing is the greatest improvement and the way you move between platforms is much smarter this time around aswell, ie the game seems to just 'know' where you want to jump to without having to directly point towards it.
@Beatley82 of course! Loved the cheats you could put in. SUPERMAN for guaranteed 6's, BIGBALLS for beachballs, BIGHANDS for... something, can't remember exactly what...

I'd love to see a Marvel character in there. No reason why that couldn't happen considering we have Ultimate Alliance on the way.

I'd be highly pee'd off if a Pro Model comes out, especially if there are certain games that can only run on it like Xenoblade for the New 3DS.
I don't mind a revision if it's simply a case of larger screen, better battery life etc.
