Re: Poll: C'mon Then, Did You Predict The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay?

I think the writing was on the wall when it skipped the February direct. I like that Nintendo is keeping their cards close to their chests. While not having a lot to go on can be frustrating, it also keeps the hype train firmly on the rails. Nintendo games usually resemble the finished product when footage is shown so their coyness with Zelda suggests to me a commitment to deliver something that will absolutely meet whatever expectations they set with marketing.

For as acclaimed as their titles often are, Nintendo rarely seems to rub up against the hype culture that otherwise engulfs this industry. Usually, they’d just delay the game with a tweet like they did with Advance Wars. They’ve likely never felt under more pressure to deliver than they have with BOTW 2. An exciting yet unenviable position, especially now that Elden Ring has come to challenge them for the open world throne.

Re: Capcom Will Share More Street Fighter 6 News This Summer

@Specter_of-the_OLED fighting games are incredibly performance reliant. If it’s going to play smoothly and accurately, the tech absolutely needs to be up to par. That’s why fighting games routinely skip Nintendo’s hardware. Smash is optimised for the Switch and even then, the online performance is abysmal. As for Street Fighter not being popular, I strongly disagree. Still one of Capcom’s best sellers and a series where two of the five instalments (II and IV) can be credited with single handedly creating a genre-wide renaissance.

On one hand, virtual consoles don’t seem all that straightforward to maintain in the age of the remaster, where 3rd parties are inclined to control the distribution of their own legacy content. Even so, I hope pressure continues to be put on Nintendo to properly address preservation of their own content. Did they somehow miss the enormous backlash towards PlayStation when they tried to pull a similar stunt?
