This is a really fascinating analysis of Nintendo’s history when it comes to depicting gender non conformity in their games. The main take away being that Nintendo don’t seem to go out of their way to cater on either end. So while you have a company that does tend to cop out or come up short as far as representation is concerned, it doesn’t really enforce a hetero, cis or masculine status quo like other big budget corporations have done in the past.
Excellent game they made me a fan for life. Marathoning the Ace Attorney HD Trilogy is like binging a quality series. You end up not knowing what to do with your life when it’s over.
Nintendo fanboys would rather not think about those pesky allegations of workplace toxicity and get back to the issues that really matter, such as the way the grass looks in the Mario Kart DLC.
Can someone explain to me what the problem with Kotaku is?
Anyway, Nintendo of America needs to get its house in order. Don’t know why I expected it to rise above the rest of the corporate American sludge to be honest. Maybe the Japanese arm of the company needs to intervene?
In fairness, it's difficult to assess a piece of content when it's part of a larger whole. Perhaps this crop of tracks is underwhelming, but their value will be bolstered by additional waves that have yet to release. So to my mind, the review reflects the state of the booster pack as it currently is.
@Erigen the Wii U was exceptionally badly marketed. Now we have Nintendo Directs which tend to dominate gaming news whenever they occur. I think Nintendo’s brand has never been in a stronger position.
@Bobb the whole movie is hilariously vulgar in a way it really didn’t need to be but adds to the charm. There is so much swearing. Pretty sure Guile says f*ck at one point.
Resident Evil as a gameplay experience tends to prop up the ludicrous storytelling, which makes adaptations to other media a hard sell for me. The recent remakes are a good nudge towards realism, but even then one of the main antagonists is a big plodding brute in a fedora.
It’s a pretty lacklustre package if you’re judging it as a rerelease, and a €50 one at that. It’s very much just the two games and nothing else. It’s not something I’d say you need to kick down someone’s door to play, but if you like platformers, you should check it with out when it’s perhaps cheaper.
Oh heck yeah, this is awesome. Mega Man might not be big enough to get a whole lot of sequels nowadays, but keep the back catalogue coming. Hopefully Legends will get a rerelease someday.
@DarthFoxMcCloud I don’t really don’t understand how Nintendo putting GBA games on the Switch is meant to improve the state of the world lol. Some of you need to stop overly investing your personal happiness in what video games a corporation may or may not decide to announce.
Again, Nintendo’s got a rock solid release schedule for the rest year with some of their biggest IP getting new instalments in Pokémon, Splatoon and Xenoblade. I imagine we’ll start seeing new first party announcements crop up around September if they do a direct then. Kirby wasn’t at E3 last year but was announced in September and released in Spring.
