The games industry has been paying tribute to the developer of Coffee Talk, Mohammad "Fahmitsu" Fahmi, who has sadly passed away aged 32. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
The news was broken by the game's official Twitter account:
Since then, tributes have poured in from other developers:
While the narrative adventure game Coffee Talk is his most famous creation, Fahmi's career included a stint at Gameloft, as well as working as a managing editor for Tech In Asia Indonesia.
Fahmi left Toge Productions in December 2019 after Coffee Talk was released and went on to work with Pikselnesia on What Comes After. His next project, Afterlove EP, was recently shown off during an Indie World presentation.
Our thoughts are with Fahmi's family and friends at this difficult time.

How terrible! Rest in peace Fahmi. Hopefully his last game will be a fantastic swansong.
RIP and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time. Afterlove EP was one of the games I am looking forward to from the last indie world. Got Coffee Talk on my backlog as well.
That's a shame, far too young to be gone
I saw this news earlier today and man that really just sucks. I remember reading an interview I believe with the devs behind VA-11 Hall-A, and how Fahmi approached them about their concept for VA-11 Hall-A and potentially using it as his inspiration for what would become Coffee Talk. He always came across as a starry-eyed dreamer to me
He was my age. Utterly tragic, his games looked quite impressive.
Well that sucks. I spent my honeymoon in Indonesia and love to see games coming out of places that I've been to and/or that aren't the places where games normally come from, so Coffee Talk has been in my wish list for a long time. I've also had my eyes on Afterlove EP, but now I'm definitely going to get them both out of respect.
Such sad news! Coffee Talk has always intrigued me but I never got around to actually giving it a go. Seeing the outpouring of love for its creator, I might just rectify that later today. Rest in peace, far too young!
Dreadful news. His writing was endearing, and he helped the western world to really notice the growing game development scene in Indonesia. May his memory live on.
@DiggleDog Yeah, same — I played the demo, which I really enjoyed, just never got around to nabbing the full game. It's definitely time to give it a proper whirl, I think
It's tragic to see talent such as this leave us. Coffee Talk is one of the best visual novels I've played.
Thank you NL for writing about him.
Correction: Fahmitsu is his nickname / twitter handle. His studio name is Pikselnesia.
I've had my eye on Coffee Talk for a while, heard a lot of good things about it. I'll buy it this week in his honor, hopefully it helps his family a little bit. Rest in peace, brother.
I don't like visual novels but I just adored Coffee Talk. Everything was just spot on from the writing, to the art, and music.
The man had talent, and it will be missed.
Just really tragic. Such a young age and a real talented guy.
innalillahi wa innailaihi raijiun
Sorry to read this. I enjoyed his work. Feel for his family and close friends. Rest peacefully bright soul.
I haven’t played Coffee Talk but I’ve listened to the soundtrack on Spotify a ton. Great calming music for when I’m having a hard time. My condolences to his friends and family ☹️
This sucks, as a game designer even more to lose someone as talented.
I didn't know who he was, but he sounded like a good guy so that's kinda sad.
Far to young. Rest in peace.
Inna lillahi wa inna illahi rajiun. May Allah grant him Jannah and bless his family.
