@rjejr yeah, I would totally understand that hate haha. And I love some MK8 but maybe it's just that it feels stale? Or that the new tracks aren't near the quality of the originals. I'm sure the next MK will retake its throne, but we're still playing the same Wii U game almost 10 years later now. Of course things are gonna advance since then! Lol

@LikelySatan there's a "story mode" that works like a battle pass, and limited events to unlock people. I have everyone except two with 0 "gambling". And you can use premium currency for the cosmetics instead of gambling (I personally would not for cosmetic items though)
Also, in local multiplayer and free play mode EVERY CHARACTER IS UNLOCKED!!!!
So tell him he can play with anyone just not in ranked or regulated multiplayer lol

This is honestly the best kart racer I've ever played. The early access has been handled great, and they've listened to feedback. I wish they didn't all have a weird formula 1 outfit and kart, but otherwise I'm very happy with it. I know I'll get flamed because hating free to play games is "cool", but I said what I said!

This game is so much fun but gets so much hate. They have multiplayer where everyone's level is the same, everything is unlocked for split screen, it has a lengthy and challenging amount of missions.
People complain it's too hard and too easy at the same time, and they they don't have everything all the time and they have to play to progress.

I remember a while back some leaks from within the team saying they wanted to use Unreal and they demanded using their own engine. Was supposedly a reason for the Skywalker Saga delays. I wonder how much time and money that cost when they could've listened to the team and made it easier and potentially less buggy.

Personal opinion but I miss the earlier games style, the whole hyper realistic combined with trying to make it look like actual toys (Lego stamps on the characters arms?) just doesn't look as smooth. Lego marvel superheroes was the pinnacle.
