The company is founded and owned by Japanese. Sony Corporation of America is an arm of SONY conglomerate. They could shut down any American branch in a few days, if they wanted to.
Same thing with SEGA of America. Same situation with Nintendo of America. These companies have arms in other places too.
Sony is headquartered in Sony City, Tokyo. A brief study in corporate hierarchy would do you well.
You're probably 100 right, but maybe a "traditional" Phantasy Star game that takes place in another system, and is loosely connected in some way, could rekindle the series without messing with the original story.
A Phantasy Star or a Shining Force, or both.....in the traditional vein, of course. But I don't think that will ever happen, at least not within my lifetime.
Then again, I'd be happy with some remasters, a sequel, anything from those two series in proper form.
Edit: I'd just like to add that I'm well aware that SEGA's rpgs are only obsessed over by a smaller but rabid following. It's probably going to be from a more well known franchise, if not a new IP.
Thanatos' palace in Secret of Mana. The off-putting music and setting, the types of enemies, the way everyone was wearing masks and brainwashed into a cult.
The Moon in Majora's Mask was pretty creepy.
Friday the 13th on NES, and those children's faces in the cabin. I could think of more, but I'm at work right now.
There is nothing wrong with a well-proportioned woman, be her many of the real ones hanging out downtown, or the fictional ones hanging out in an anime or video game.
If a dude wants to rock his abs or wear a thong, that's just as fine too. I don't even think Balthus wore a full shirt in Three Houses.
People like boobs and butts and random body parts because we are human. You can still be attracted to someone and still see and treat them as more than an object.
Like it or not, physical attractiveness is an evolutionary trait used to get ahead. Some people are smart, some are just really driven and have high-energy, some are really athletic, or beautiful, and some just hit every high-mark in the genetic lottery.
Do what you have to be more competitive in life, know your own strengths and weaknesses, and don't let you insecurities grow so strong that you feel put off by a fictional video game character with generous proportions.
She looks pretty great. I gotta say those abs make me jealous, but I'm 40 years old and like to eat sweets, so I don't see mine coming back any time soon. Also, does this mean that Bimmy and Jimmy will be somewhere in the game?
The people who make these games do not owe any of us anything. I also think that the game was reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and replay factor. I understand that there are some people who jack up things like rent, internet access, etc.., but this is a video game, and you do not need this type of thing to live.
This game is starting to give me Tokyo Mirage Sessions/FE vibes. Hopefully it won't be too gimmicky. I'm loving the colors. Can't wait to see the other returning / avatar characters.
I only had time to play for half an hour after opening the box last night. I already feel confident that I've gotten my moneys worth. It doesn't just feel like a good game, it has that extra something that I just know I'm going to love it.
I always got serious fall vibes from the entire Dark World section of A Link to The Past. Maybe it was because I played that game back in the autumn when I first had started it, and it built an association. But that's my "autumn" game. There is also a fun 8-bit style game called Halloween 86 on switch and NES that is really fun and cool....old school Halloween vibes.
I've played through the console Paper Mario's each several times over, and I've played through Bug Fables before and after the big update......I think claiming that it's objectively better than 1,000 Year Door is a stretch. I do think it's a good game
Me too. I still have both my original discs and boxes for those games, but I'd love to see them on one cartridge, with clean graphics and new features. (I played through both again this year, and they still hold up).
I'm sceptical, but also kinda down in they pull it off right. I'd love to see Ike again....or even FE Heroes original characters like Askr, Reginn, or Laevetein.
I mean, as long as the microtransactions are gone. If they added those, I would be straight boycotting the game.
The more footage I see of the game, the more excited I get. There is no strategy RPG bar Shining Force that can hold a candle to FE for me. The cutesy aesthetic of the character design still isn't my taste, but the game looks like an absolute blast. It looks like it has unlockable outfits too, and that's a big sell for me in any game.
I am playing through this game now.....It is fantastic. The combat system is really clever too. The game is way easier if you take time to really learn the system. The story is emotionally haunting and mind-bending. Please do yourself a favor and don't pass on this one.
Breaking news. Coffee has caffeine, and water is wet.
Anyway, I think this game looks great. I don't care too much for the lead character design, but I'm looking forward to game. As far as having cutesy or scantily-clad characters, it's never bothered me. Japan has been doing this kind of thing for decades, so it's nothing surprising for me.
Not really big on the lineup, but I haven't even gotten to Xenoblade 3, Luigi's Mansion 3, or Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I don't even have time for all the games they make, so it's all good. Definitely getting Fire Emblem Engage when it hits.
On my own personal list, I'd put Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force 1 and 2 in the top 3. Oddly enough I have never tried Alisia Dragoon. It must be really good.
It's crazy how many great games there were on Genesis though, and how there are so very few people I know personally who played anything outside of Streets of Rage and Sonic (both very good, but that seems to be all that they remember) and sports games.
No but for real. Those games are amazing. This is awesome. They were so much fun to play. Just trying to find new recruits to join was a game into itself.
Disliking the character design = disliking everything?
Aside from the early famicom versions, I've loved every Fire Emblem game I've ever played. But I guess that critiquing the questionable character design means I hate all of it. You do you, bro. I tell you what though, if this new protagonist spends as much time on their sword play or magic skills as they do their hair, the rest of the FE universe doesn't stand a chance.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who absolutely loathes the character design. It's tackier than a windbreaker from 1990. I bet the game is fun though. I will never pass up on a good Fire Emblem.
The snow level has the best music. I won't be getting this, as I already have the wii version, and haven't played the Forgotten Land yet. Definitely a plus for those who missed out though.
Same. Hopefully, a physical will come out at some point, I can play through it three or four times, and let it sit next to Undertale looking all pristine and beautiful.
I actually played through part of chapter 1, and I was really enjoying it....but I decided that I'd rather wait until the whole thing is ready. So yeah, when he finishes it, I'll just buy the whole thing outright. I can wait.
I played it all the time back in the 90's, and I came back with my "nostalgia goggles" off the best I could....and it still holds up. The gameplay it just so remarkably tight, and still razor-sharp even by today's standards. The move set, the pacing, the stage design, the boss patterns. It's still a blast to play. The perfect half-hour video game.
I enjoyed it in the late 80's, and I am enjoying it today. It certainly has its flaws, but I think its positive attributes outweigh the negatives, especially once one gets the controls and quirks down. A lot of licensed games back then were inaccurate to the source material, but in no way does that make it a bad game.
Now, the game being so challenging might be a reason why some people give it a hard time....
I still have this on Wii U. It's a great game. There are a few parts that I could only get through after watching a video though. Some people compare it to Super Mario Bros. 2 and Metroid, but it's kinda its own beast. It's cool to see so many Sunsoft games seeing the light again.
I'm just now finding out about this game, and I've been as sunsoft fan since I was a child. I've played all of the Blaster Master games, and even have Ufouria: The Saga. I definitely want in on this one. I wonder if there are other NES gems from them that I missed out on.
There is lots of good music out, but most of it is underground or lesser-known. Though, I think there are a few exceptions - I really like Lady Gaga and Lizzo, and a few others. Thundercat is good. There are lots of good metal, rock and electronic acts out there, but they likely won't be on Sing.
And yes, older people do complain a lot about music. I'm one of them. Friends tell me I'm stuck in the 80's and 90's, though not always the case, it's often true.
Regardless, I wouldn't be buying a game like this. The developer and publisher probably already know who their audience is, and will likely sell a decent amount.
