@BloodNinja hmm, Skyrim is barely playable on PS3. On Switch you get smooth 30fps. With somewhat better graphics. Load times is down to storage medium. If you use SSD sure it might load faster. If you could put a a high speed m.2 ssd in the Switch then it would probably load faster.
But I don’t measure performance by load speed, unless both machines are having the same kind of storage technology installed.
The PS3 probably has way more power than the Switch (for those who know how to unlock it, Naughty Dog for example).
But in general, pretty much all PS3 era games could probably run just fine on the Switch. Because very few actually bothered learning how to optimize for the Cell properly.
I would say that the Switch beat the PS360 era’s performance (with some exceptions)
@Specter_of-the_OLED I beat this game on the Switch already, there’s no major issues with the jump to 60 fps. My only frustration was the times when it didn’t run at 60fps.
I think the dragon ball series deserves a proper turnbased jrpg game. I think that would work great for this franchise.
Character growth is such a big part of the Dragonball franchise and I think rpg's are the best medium for that.
Also the fights in the manga and anime is already sort of turn based in nature.
Imagine having a difficult boss fight, Goku is preparing the spirit bomb (Leaving him immobile and open to attacks for several turns) Kirilin or other party members having to use senzu beans on Goku until he is ready to cast the big one. That could be pretty cool.
And RPG would let you explore the world and characters better than in a fighting game as well.
And Dragon Ball already has far too many fighting games.
Extra game content does not require to take advantage of any extra RAM.
In your example you used New Super Mario Bros U.
The Luigi Mode really does now require more RAM. And I seriously doubt Funky in Tropical freeze takes advantage of the extra RAM.
Don't confuse RAM and Storage.
It's not like you usually load the entire game in RAM.
there are plenty of games for the Switch that are well over 20gb in file size. You only need RAM for stuff you currently need to have loaded.
More RAM could allow for new content, like new larger levels.
Or reduced load times by loading in more stuff into RAM.
But I highly doubt that any of your examples was made possible due to the extra RAM, except maybe Bowser's Fury.
But that's a big maybe. The Wii U was able to run Breath of the Wild which I think most likely uses more RAM than Bowser's Fury.
But again, including DLC content in a Deluxe version is not made possible thanks to increased RAM. That's just not how it works.
Remake vs Remaster are two different things. Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess and Windwaker was not remade. They were remastered. Essentially, using the same code as the original games but with improvements, changes and added new feathures.
Think of it like this. You have a popular old game and then you realease an update that brings it to version number 2.0. this version comes with hires textures, support for higher monitor resolution, some QoL features and bugfixes.
That is basically what a remaster is. sometimes they do a bit more, sometimes a bit less. but it's usually just about updating the already existing game.
A remake on the other hand is when they completely remake the game from scratch. Link's Awakening for Switch is a textbook example of this.
@RikkuPendragon I know how to do it, I just find myself being to slow most of the time, and sometime I'm getting at an angle. You need to be fast and precise and that's not too easy. They allowed you to perform a spin attack by motion input in Mario Odyssey (Even in handheld mode). For me that would work just as well here.
I dislike the spin attack in handheld mode... I hope the release an update that allow you to shake the switch horizontaly for the spin attack and vertically for the finishing blow.
@Whitestrider maybe, but Zelda games up until Skyward Sword did just fine without explaining what a heart does. I never heard anyone getting frustrated or complaining about that. I think there is a certain joy in figuring things out yourself and not have your hand held all the time. At least for these obvious things.
If you turned off the game and started it again it would give you the information again. At least on my Wii. But it was only once per session. It was sort of annoying, but I got used to it at the time. Nice that it’s fixed.
I really don’t think it’s needed to have information for what a heart does even the first time you pick one up. I don’t remember anyone ever complaining that it was difficult to figure out what the hearts was for in Previous Zelda games. Same thing with rupies, like perhaps for special rupies.. but for green, blue and red it doesn’t feel necessary.
How will the VR kit work on the OLED one? If they don't release a new kit then they would have to make it work with software and that would probably mean lower resolution than the original Switch?
@kupocake
Well my guess is that it's not as easy as just hooking up the pins of the cartrigde and routing them to a USB...
Someone probably had to do some reverseengineering and make a chip that could act as translator/formater between the cartridge and the PC .
So the actual game emulation still happens on the PC. the chip is only for communication purposes.
Well I’m pretty sure most countries already have laws around the upper limit of how much you are allowed earn from reselling a product as a retailer. And this is in percentage.
So you could just add a line to the existing law
“This also applies for private people reselling products which have yet not reached their End of life” just rewrite it in fancier English.
How do you police it? Well you offer people a chance to know about the new law for starters. If people break the law then they could be reported, banned and even taken in by the police.
Many of these scalpers are running it like an illegal business.
Meaning they are not a registered company, they don’t report earnings, they don’t play by the rules.
But they are organized, they are hiring people and they have hierarchy within their organization.
I’m a bit confused by this. The studio seems to do the stuff that only appeals for kids. Why them? And Why FFIX?
Kids don’t know Final Fantasy IX..
Unless Square Enix is remaking the game or something.
I noticed that the only Final Fantasy on iOS that doesn’t seem to work is Final Fantasy IX. It just won’t install. This has been an issue for quite some time. When contacting Square Enix they say that they are aware of the issue and looking into it.
The funny thing is the the whole problem looks to be because they just did provide privacy information about the game, and now they are required to.
So why does it take this long? Unless they are actually working on a bigger update..
@johnvboy I have no problem with artwork, really rare collectors items and antiques being sold for WAY more than they did initially..
As long as it doesn’t prevent people from getting a product for it’s intended price while it’s still being produced.
In these cases, the product isn’t even out yet and is already difficult to get hold of due to the scalpers preordering all of them before normal people even have a chance to.
I think this is a really unfair practice and it should be illegal.
Every country should have laws around how much you can earn from reselling a product that is still actively being produced.
It should be a set percentage of the intended price (not the price of the retailer)
Once the product is discontinued these laws should not apply anymore and people can then sell the product for whatever lofty price they want.
If a law like this existed that would mean that the scalpers wouldn’t be able to really overprice the product but they could still earn som money on reselling it. If this was the case I actually wouldn’t mind buying some things from scalpers as they would then not be able to charge that much more that the retailers. However I would probably prefer to buy some things from retailers for the extra warranty benefit.
@Mr-Fuggles777 sure and there has always been scalpers and people have still managed to get hold of what they are looking for. But since Covid, the situation has been extreme.
And I understand, it’s the consequence of sudden increase in unemployment. But that doesn’t make it right.
Look at India for instance probably the majority of the worlds scams comes from there. And why are they doing it? Because there’s poor people and someone came up with the idea to make money by fooling people into paying them for nothing. These people just want to feed themselves and their families. Or because it’s easy money and they don’t mind stealing money from old people and children.
It’s not right and they should look for honest jobs. Bad karma that…
To me Indian taxi drivers who charge foreigners twice the price are the same type of scum as scalpers. It’s unfair business. And there should be laws and regulations against that kind of practice.
I ordered a PS5 in November last year and I’m still waiting. My son keeps asking me “When is the PS5 coming” And then I have to explain to my 6 year old son what a scalper is and why we don’t buy from them…

@BloodNinja Now we’re just comparing different levels of “scumery” based on the product they’re selling.
The practice still a scum practice, And it should be illegal to sell overpriced items unless they have been professionally valued by some organization based on antique value or collection value.
@BloodNinja Don't you think it's a garbage move to buy up the supply that is already priced for the end cosumers and putting these consumers in the situation where they have 2 options?
1) Not getting their product..
2) Paying person who have contributed to this situation way more than what you should have to?
I think it's a scum move..

@Pod Does no one think about the fact that they have to rewrite parts of the game and make new assets and menu changes for it to work with the Switch controls...
Also if they wan't to implement any features unique to the Switch that also takes extra time.
Yes of course they are going to spend time on optimizing the game but I highly doubt that is going to take up the majority of the time. The game is already running quite well on weaker systems
@Miu Who said anything about 60FPS. I would expect it to run quite well on the Switch at 30 FPS with some settings turned down.
Yes the Switch is not as powerful as new phones. But remember that it still has quite a bit of power, it renders at lower resolution and it has no junk running in the background to slow it down like Android or iOS
@sanderev This is kind of robbing children of their cards? By removing them from the stores and putting them out online for a price that these kids can't afford

But don't expect 1080@60 on the Switch
Re: Rumour: Genshin Impact For Switch Reportedly Delayed Due To "Weaker Hardware"
@John_Deacon Umm... Does no one remember the PS3?
Re: Rumour: Genshin Impact For Switch Reportedly Delayed Due To "Weaker Hardware"
Re: Pokémon Trading Card Scalpers Are Causing Some Ugly Scenes Right Now
@sanderev This is kind of robbing children of their cards?
By removing them from the stores and putting them out online for a price that these kids can't afford
