Goku and company will be returning to the Nintendo Switch this September in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Ahead of the release of this action RPG, Bandai Namco has been drip-feeding Dragon Ball fans new videos of the game running on the Switch. In the latest Japanese trailer, we get a look at some fast-paced battles - it's all looking very promising.
Bandai Namco is still showing support for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, too. In a new trailer, which aired earlier this week, fans got a look at Jiren (full power) - a character who is heavily featured in the Dragon Ball Super anime series. Jiren is arriving later on in Autumn. As you can see at the end of this trailer, there's also a teaser of a fusion between Goku and Vegeta.
Excited for what's to come Dragon Ball fans? Tell us down in the comments.

Idk who’s porting it but good job to them! Will definitely cop this one
How did they get this game running so smooth on the switch? Serious. Looks exactly the same as the other versions.
How old am i..
..I remember when they aired dragon ball z on tv, mid-late 90s, and when goku was facing off with the ginyu force, they would start over right before the recoome fight. So, here's recoome, then radditz saga again. Did this for 2+ years. I understand they had to translate, etc, but still.
Rant over.
Looks good, wanted to play on the xbo. More reason now that it's portable.
What? An open-world rpg port that actually runs smoothly and has decent graphics on Switch? Color me impressed.
YESSSS, I can't wait to play this.
Like always, they skipped the Garlic Jr. saga once again even though they had tons of filler contents in this game.
@The-Chosen-one The cell shading graphics style of the source material certainly helps with performance. With cell shading, there's much less texture and lighting information for the GPU to process, which is why games like Monster Hunter Stories and Z:BotW still look so great!
TBH this game looks like a wait for a sale, I mean have you seen there sales? MHOJ 2 deluxe is on sale for 27 Bucks!
Looking good, wasn't on my radar but I will definitely see how the reviews for this do
@PhhhCough I'm right there with you. I used to watch it after school almost daily.
But either I grew away from the show or the show grew away from me. I just don't like the way the show shifted to heavily toward Goku being the only character who ever really matters in the end. I didn't like how every new arc after Freiza had to introduce a new power beyond Super Sayian. And I really don't like how the show has made a habit of introducing new powers and scales and rules with the sole intention of introducing them only to break them.
Despite that, I have many fond memories of watching the show, which I really enjoyed at least up through the Cell Saga. I loved the idea of Gohan surpassing his father and becoming the new hero. Which is why I really lost interest when after all that build up from the start of DBZ all the way to Gohan beating Cell, was thrown away in the very next story arc...
I know I'm only complaining here. But I really did enjoy the show as a kid. I guess I simply grew out of it.
@WanzerAce plenty of reviews for this game exist for the playstation and xbox versions.
So glad this has come to the Switch
I sold XENOSAGA 2 after getting frustrated with the overall design. I really just want to play as Goku; and this looks like it will for that bill perfectly! I also am very impressed with how smooth everything seems to be running. Nintendo machines have always been ace at running cell shaded graphics.
Should rather make a game About Trunks timeline. There’s only so many times I can play through DBz story without getting burned out. It’s the same thing over and over again. Gonna skip this one for sure. No matter how good the game may be rated, I can’t witness the same story unfold before me for the 100th time. I’ll just end up hating DBZ if I get this game
@Vertpin That doesn't help me a single bit in knowing how THIS PORT performs, but I appreciate the sentiment...
Looks really tempting, but I'm gonna hold off until a Switch review comes out. I put it on my Wishlist in case I forget though.
@WanzerAce your comment was a bit ambiguous and left me to believe you were thinking of the game as a whole.
Looks awesome and I didn't get it on PS so far
@PhhhCough that's how I remember animes in the UK! I don't think the Buu saga even begin/ended.
I ended up downloading and watching with subs.
@My_ultimate_is_ready The good news was that there is a Dragon Ball Z game (Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road for PSP) focus primarily on Future Trunks timeline but it took place after the Cell Game and was told as a what if story rather than what Dragon Ball Super made it out to be.
@WhiteTrashGuy I'm assuming you meant Xenoverse 2? Xenosaga 2 is a completely unrelated game from Dragon Ball, Xenoverse 2 is the Dragon Ball RPG where you make your own custom character.
Namco where’s my Dark Souls 2 Switch? Seems like they gave up there.
This looks extremely well optimized if this is actual Switch footage...
I'll never understand why they keep putting these DBZ games last on Switch when they most likely sell best on Switch
@PhhhCough what to know how old am I? I watched Dragon Ball, and just when Goku started to climb Karin tower they restarted the whole show, that happened for two years, until he finally made it to the top. Even a friend said “That tower is tall as hell. Took him like two years to reach the top” lol
Wasn't this game torn a new one at how terrible it was, even by DBZ game standards?
Goddammit Xenoverse, stop teasing me!
If Switch can manage 480p30 in a game like this Switch owners are in for a treat.
@Chamver no??
@Chamver
nope, dont know what game you are thinking off but its not this, it was very well recieved .
the only recent one that wasen't was the card one.
i would of liked the season pass included considering how long its been out for xbox,pc and ps4
@DomGC what are you talking about in terms of pacing? I thoroughly enjoyed watching Goku and Frieza trash talking to eachother for 10 episodes straight, then increase their power levels for another 10 episodes. I loved the narrator at the end, "Will Goku finally do something or will they just continue talking? Find out in the next exciting episode of Dragonbaaaall Zeeeeeee."
Damm! Good job whoever port it!
@Specter_of-the_OLED Garlic Jr. was filler.
@Chamver Eh. It's got a 73 on metacritic. Higher than that for fan reviews. I thought the grind, collecting orbs, all that looked awful, but apparently people like it?
I think the dragon ball series deserves a proper turnbased jrpg game. I think that would work great for this franchise.
Character growth is such a big part of the Dragonball franchise and I think rpg's are the best medium for that.
Also the fights in the manga and anime is already sort of turn based in nature.
Imagine having a difficult boss fight, Goku is preparing the spirit bomb (Leaving him immobile and open to attacks for several turns) Kirilin or other party members having to use senzu beans on Goku until he is ready to cast the big one.
That could be pretty cool.
And RPG would let you explore the world and characters better than in a fighting game as well.
And Dragon Ball already has far too many fighting games.
@Heavyarms55 you might enjoy one punch man. It's kind of satire on the whole "I must get stronger for every fight". And totally enjoyable for it.
Just to comment on the game itself and not the port footage...game isn't very good. Very boring, very easy, very bland, shockingly shallow battle mechanics. Was incredibly disappointed when playing this on the Ps4.
I am sooo looking forward to finally playing this. This is like my childhood dream game. As a 12 year old I would have spent hours and hours a day playing this
@DaniPooo there's an amazing Dragonball Z jrpg for the DS called Attack of the Saiyans.
@McGruber cool thank you, I need to check that one out
