Very nice collection. Good job, Konami. You deserve a Scooby Snack. Hopefully these are good translations/ports. This isn't a day one purchase though. Will wait to see what reviews say about the emulation.
This is straight up not a good thing. The potential for Atari to wreck this pillar in the retro community is significant, and in my opinion very likely. I can see Atari wanting to monetize this to no end and kill the place this has in the retro community. RIP
I didn't see a listing in the US eShop, so I only see the PlayAsia price. I'm perfectly fine with it being a mix given the pedigree. But, that price is kind of ridiculous. And, I agree with the review comment that some obvious titles are missing. If the eshop price is more reasonable, this might be a good pickup. I love that they gave Ninjawarriors the ultrawide treatment. Although, that will likely be very difficult to play in handheld mode.
I assume the truth why Asia gets cooler things is because they buy more of it than the west does. We may be fans of the stuff, but that doesn't mean is has mass market appeal in the west. The limited appeal means they just won't try as hard for that kind of stuff for us. bah
What an odd choice to go with smaller sprites. In some of the scenes it looks a little like the movement controls might be a bit floaty. I dig the music though.
Have to admit, I assumed this was going to be another poor clone. I only stopped when I saw the price for $20. But, the polish on the graphics was more than I was expecting. If they've put as much attention to the rest of the game, this should be good.
I highly doubt either party is really interested in that proposal. Not that it would pass regulator approval from either country. At best we'll just see continued collaborations. MS Studio games on the Switch was just the toe in the water on how to navigate said body of water. It would be interesting to see if Xbox somehow benefitted from NIntendo's push to use different hardware (think Wii) as part of their on-going or even metaverse strategy.
The combat system didn't grab me. I put in maybe an hour's worth though. It was very strategic just to manage the breaks by turn making it almost like a puzzle to determine what's the right way to play the fight to maximize breaks to win. It wasn't bad, but it didn't click with me. Maybe I should give it another shot. The boss system was ... different to say the least. I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. I dug the art style though.
Ouch $90. I was expecting more of a bundle discount. The trailer says PEGI 12. Is it really okay for a young girl to play? My oldest loves anime for young girls (stuff she finds on Netflix).
When the rumors hit about MS buying Sega, I specifically pointed out that MS wouldn't do it because the amusement business. Sega's been thinning itself down, and now this. Makes sense to me. And, I think it still makes sense that it would be MS and not Nintendo. I think MS would do more with the back catalog then Nintendo would, and therefore probably thinks Sega has more value than Nintendo does.
However, I think from a regulator view it would be harder for MS to clear the purchase than Nintendo given the sizeable purchases MS has done recently.
I would LOVE to see a new Rocket Slime game. I'm not sure why I picked up the DS title when it released, but that ended up being such a great game. I assume it under performed in the US. But, the market is different now, and Rocket Slime would fit very well in this age of mobile style games. Fingers crossed!
I was thinking my kids might like this game. Except...This won't play on the Lite. <grumble> I get why, but means they'll have to play on my Switch in the living room and not on a Lite because of the joy cons.
Given the issues lately with music, it wouldn't surprise me if there is an issue with distribution of the game with "his" music outside of Japan. He puts some crazy limits in his contracts.
Was hoping the art design was a little more "charming" like the older games. This makes me feel like they're going to end up leaning more towards the same flash game feel of the current Harvest Moon title. I haven't found anyone that thinks those graphics are even considered good.
The mobile version was a fun distraction for a bit. I can't imaging paying $25 for it though. It may depend on how they handle what the IAP stuff was. I guess I'm glad not see more Pokemon Quest style IAP systems. I mean, okay the base game was free, but there are too many mobile games on Switch as it is.
The one week thing is really interesting. I wonder if that's there way to try to combat people being interested, but wanting to wait to back it, and then forget. Just doing like a week means you pretty much have to decide to back it right then or it'll be gone. I have super fond memories of working to master R-Type, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to back it. Tempting, but the music in the trailer didn't grab me enough to push me over the edge. They should have put up a sample track to show how awesome the music should be.
The reality is pretty close to what Letterman mentions. There isn't going to be a lot Fowler can actually do. The expense to redesign and re-render their main character is going to be huge, and some scenes might not work with a simple re-render. Even if that was technically possible, the expense to do so would almost certainly put the film way over budget. I just don't see the studio allowing that. However, only a fully incompetent exec would turn a blind eye to the internet rage.
Oh bother. Going to buy these tables yet again. I do enjoy PFX3 on the Switch. It's become my preferred platform with the portrait mode and HD rumble with just the lower controller connected and using touch controls.
This is a bad giveaway. You have to pay to be eligible to enter. In-fact, the sponsor of the contest makes profit from your entry because you have to buy their game to enter. There's not a no purchase necessary option mentioned in the rules. That should be illegal. I guess UK laws are different than in the US.
Terrible that you don't mention the real reboot: Overload. Overload was made by the devs that made the original Descent. They lost the rights to the name, so another studio made this "reboot" version.
This is pretty much why we're near the end of local content. The future of console will eventually be streaming services like OnLive tried to do. It's the only way Sony/MS and publishers can truly protect their creative works. The Switch obviously doesn't fit that model, but a cell-based Switch? Ya, I can see that, especially with 5G networks coming out soon.
IDK. I like the idea, but it seriously looks like a mobile port and would have loads of IAP. I get the appeal of porting mobile games to the Switch, but I hope Nintendo is keeping IAP away from the platform as much as practical. Ya, Pokemon Quest had them, but i felt that was at least somewhat tasteful. I'll keep an eye on this. If it's a solid game, I can overlook the mobile port-style visuals. But I real fear this'll have IAP all over it.
Still wonder if the content was changed after they decided to reschedule. In typical Nintendo fashion, I could see them talk about Mario Party originally, and then a quick 3min direct this week about Online - my thinking that Nintendo ends up still downplaying online. And, given that we mostly know what's going to be covered, and that the direct is only going to be ~35min long, they aren't going to devote a ton of time talking about online. Unless we're wrong about the games that will get covered, but no, they're also going to be talking about 3ds too. So, that still tells me that they're going to give minimal coverage to online. Yup, typical Nintendo. But, maybe I'll be wrong.
Really wish it was more common to have access to soundtracks in the West like it very common in Japan. I can't afford the CE version of this (plus I'd just rather have digital), but I suspect the OST won't be available outside of the CE release. Not everything makes it to streaming.

I assumed it was all because of the expense of the license, and their replies all but confirm that to me.
Re: Arcade Racer 'Sunrise GP' Coming To Switch This Year
There is nothing original here. The art direction isn't enough with the bland feature set.

Will definitely have to pick this one up. I miss this older style of shoot 'em up. The newer Cave-style games just aren't the same.

I keep meaning to pick up Rollers of the Realm. Although that is by Phantom Compass and this game here is by Daedalic, so only similar ideas.
