Re: LEGO Bricktales Invites You To Unlock Your Creativity This Year

Love this idea. Hope it has the right balance of content to price. Builder's Journey on the PC felt too pricy unless you really enjoyed the ray trace stuff, which was so nice. But, the game was a little short and not a lot of replay value. Hopefully this multiple solutions so my kids would want to play through a few times.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Still Be Pre-Ordering Games?

I would like to see a new hybrid CE kind of pre-order. I don't want the cart. Carts get lost. My kids have lost 2 so far. But, sometimes I'd really like to have the CE goodies. I'd be perfectly happy to pre-order a CE bundle that comes with a code to redeem the digital version. I'm in the minority on that. And, Nintendo closing down the older eshops is very much concerning for keeping newer systems that are more reliant on digital eshops. But, I'm more apt to lose the cart, and there are far, far, far more digital only title for Switch than any previous Nintendo system.

Re: Review: Taito Milestones - An Oddly Meagre Collection Of Coin-Op Classics

I didn't see a listing in the US eShop, so I only see the PlayAsia price. I'm perfectly fine with it being a mix given the pedigree. But, that price is kind of ridiculous. And, I agree with the review comment that some obvious titles are missing. If the eshop price is more reasonable, this might be a good pickup. I love that they gave Ninjawarriors the ultrawide treatment. Although, that will likely be very difficult to play in handheld mode.

Re: Back Page: After Spending $70B On Activision Blizzard... What If Microsoft Buys Nintendo Next?

I highly doubt either party is really interested in that proposal. Not that it would pass regulator approval from either country. At best we'll just see continued collaborations. MS Studio games on the Switch was just the toe in the water on how to navigate said body of water. It would be interesting to see if Xbox somehow benefitted from NIntendo's push to use different hardware (think Wii) as part of their on-going or even metaverse strategy.

Re: Star Renegades Special Editions Up For Grabs On Switch

The combat system didn't grab me. I put in maybe an hour's worth though. It was very strategic just to manage the breaks by turn making it almost like a puzzle to determine what's the right way to play the fight to maximize breaks to win. It wasn't bad, but it didn't click with me. Maybe I should give it another shot. The boss system was ... different to say the least. I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. I dug the art style though.

Re: Sega's Splitting Its Amusement And Video Game Divisions, Triggering Rumours That An Acquisition Is Afoot

When the rumors hit about MS buying Sega, I specifically pointed out that MS wouldn't do it because the amusement business. Sega's been thinning itself down, and now this. Makes sense to me. And, I think it still makes sense that it would be MS and not Nintendo. I think MS would do more with the back catalog then Nintendo would, and therefore probably thinks Sega has more value than Nintendo does.

However, I think from a regulator view it would be harder for MS to clear the purchase than Nintendo given the sizeable purchases MS has done recently.

Re: R-Type Final 2 Kickstarter Campaign Begins, Already Set To Smash Its ¥45 Million Goal

The one week thing is really interesting. I wonder if that's there way to try to combat people being interested, but wanting to wait to back it, and then forget. Just doing like a week means you pretty much have to decide to back it right then or it'll be gone. I have super fond memories of working to master R-Type, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to back it. Tempting, but the music in the trailer didn't grab me enough to push me over the edge. They should have put up a sample track to show how awesome the music should be.

Re: Detective Pikachu Director Comments On Sonic's Movie Makeover

The reality is pretty close to what Letterman mentions. There isn't going to be a lot Fowler can actually do. The expense to redesign and re-render their main character is going to be huge, and some scenes might not work with a simple re-render. Even if that was technically possible, the expense to do so would almost certainly put the film way over budget. I just don't see the studio allowing that. However, only a fully incompetent exec would turn a blind eye to the internet rage.

Re: Celebrate The Launch Of Wargroove And Win Yourself A Nintendo Switch

This is a bad giveaway. You have to pay to be eligible to enter. In-fact, the sponsor of the contest makes profit from your entry because you have to buy their game to enter. There's not a no purchase necessary option mentioned in the rules. That should be illegal. I guess UK laws are different than in the US.
