A trailer uploaded on ahead of schedule on the Dutch game store website, Nedgame, appears to have leaked the release window of Cooking Mama: Cookstar. According to the video, the game releases this March on the Nintendo Switch and will be available for US$39.99 (or the regional equivalent).
If you're not familiar with the Cooking Mama series, it first started out on the Nintendo DS in 2006. Since then, various follow-ups have been released on platforms such as the Wii and 3DS, and there have even been a number of spin-offs like gardening games.
The new trailer above shows Mama back in action, doing what she does best. As you can see, there are more ingredients and recipes than before - like rainbow grilled cheese sandwiches. In addition to this is a new vegetarian mode. In this new entry, you'll also be able to take a picture of your dish once you've prepared it.
Will you be checking out this game when it is released on the Switch eShop next month? Comment down below.

I rember my sister used to love these games, I figured they died off, interesting to see them back.
A certain grown man who lurks around these parts is going to love this.
EDIT: Ho, ho! Speak of the devil.
Wow, even looks better than Wii version ! 😃
Edit: Rainbow 🌈 Grilled Cheese ?! 🤣
I still want to know about the blockchain
It looks... really bad, visually. I’m not a graphics snob, but the style they went with here looks cheap and plastic-y, like a low budget mobile game.
It’s nice to see Cooking Mama back on Nintendo, but this seems kind of half-baked.
I am SO excited for this!!!
Cool with a vegetarian mode! But what are these games about? Is there a story or is it just a bunch of mini games about making different dishes?
Would love to have this on my IPhone too.
Is it bad that I'm more looking forward to seeing how angry PETA gets this time? Probably.
Still, I am happy for fans of the series. I've heard people have wanted this for a while.
@Quarth just making food with mini-games essentially
It's really interesting seeing how this series has gained a cult following where the interest for the series has never really died. I too loved the first two or so games on the DS, after knocking them off as shovelware trash from the title screen alone. There was just something charming about chopping sweet potatoes or dicing cucumbers in the games that kept me coming back a lot.
Speaking of.. I'd actually love to see Cooking Mama as a playable fighter in Smash Bros. Ultimate...
@somebread Thanks! Will keep an eye on it.
Much like Brain Training, this franchise was big on the NDS (the first NDS entry sold over 5 million copies worldwide) but collapsed to irrelevance on the 3DS.
Brain Training on Switch has sold quite well so it will be interesting to see how far Cooking Mama can go.
Mama cooking series is nice. But still feels and looks like a mobile game from another era. Price $10,99 feels way more fair than $39.99....
Picking this up on a sale. Price is too high for what should be an Android game
This is a typical a game for children.. for older audience just look to another game if you don't like
@dimi wow that's expensive. This game is not worth that amount. There are better even A++ titles out there. No sale!
I bought the original Cooking Mama on the Wii due to some bad info that it was similar game play to the Trauma Center games. The review said it was essentially the same thing but with cooking instead of surgery. They could not have been more wrong! Trauma Center was a fast paced, exciting challenge involving problem solving. Cooking Mama was just a tedious chore. I really don't get the appeal of these games.
@Silly_G And who may that be?
Cooking shows are growing ever popular. So it'd make sense if Nintendo stepped up their cooking games with crossovers! Take for example Zelda we could have The Legend of Zelda: Hero of Thyme!
Can Style Star be far behind? I think not!
@LetsGoSwitch : The very next poster.
@Silly_G As expected
Why is everything coming out in March? Did February even happen? Also RIP most people's wallets next month
I was thinking my kids might like this game. Except...This won't play on the Lite. <grumble> I get why, but means they'll have to play on my Switch in the living room and not on a Lite because of the joy cons.
DAY ONE PREORDER FOR SURE
@gloom @BKPyrexx the game is now ready for pre order i found out.
Will it be available digitally? I still can't find it on the eshop and it's the last day of march.
