Launching today on Nintendo Switch is Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, an RPG which first appeared on PC back in 2016.
Actually described as a tactical RPG, Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is a fully-voiced adventure featuring a cast which includes Jennifer Hale (of Mass Effect, Mortal Kombat 11, and DuckTales), Matt Mercer (of Kingdom Hearts III, Critical Role, and Attack on Titan), and Ashly Burch of (Horizon Zero Dawn, Borderlands 2, and Steven Universe).
If you want to learn a little more about it, this synopsis should do the trick:
Cicero Gavar searches for a missing friend in Ombre, a fantastical city inspired by Renaissance-era Venice and brought to life in a rich, vibrant hand-drawn art style. As Cicero and his companions navigate a society steeped in class inequality, they must wield the four elements in devastating combos and crush their foes together in real-time combat with tactical pause.
Five years of civil war have rocked this city-state and claimed more than human casualties. Numerous Mascherines, mysterious masks that grant magical powers, have been lost to the destruction. Cicero’s party will discover how their pasts are entwined with not only the war, but with the history of those ancient masks and the ruins of civilization on which their home is built.
The game has received "very positive" user reviews on Steam so far, although our chums over at Push Square had mixed feelings on the PS4 version.
It's available to buy right now on Nintendo Switch for $19.99 / £17.99. Will you be giving it a go?

This looks really good! I love the art style. I may get it, I just need to slcheck some reviews..... And still working on The Sword of Ditto haha
But definitely on my next game from what I see
Ashly Burch also voiced Chloe in Life is Strange and Mayuri in Steins;Gate. She really is a phenomenal voice actress.
Too bad I'm not crazy about tactical RPGs.
I'll add it to my every growing wishlist.
I wrote a review just yesterday (if you fancy some Italian language XD)

Those are some big names for what appears to be a low-rent indie strategy game.
I've been interested in this one. On my watch list for now.
@YozenFroghurt
The worst thing is that it’s shifted towards actor=personality for character so a Burch voiced character has to be quirky and quipy, I remember playing though the intro of Horizon and being endeared to the main character then it time jumps and she suddenly has a wacky quip slinging personality like she came out of a Marvel movie, the protagonist she voices in in the recently announced dog sled game acts/is written exactly the same way at least in the trailer . Nolan North has this to but he has voiced of plenty that aren’t just Nathan Drake clones and even ones like Penguin where you’d never guess it was North.
Hearing Aloy in another game is about as weird as having that xenoblade woman in oxenfree.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Indeed. Looking at her Wiki page, REALLY impressive list of characters she voiced.
@erv Actually when I first played HZD I recognised the voice of Chloe Price (Life is Strange), which was kind of weird. But in a good way.
@NintendoFan4Lyf
Weird that she was Samus in the Prime games where she has no dialogue but they went with someone inferior for Other M where she has so much dialogue...
"Matt Mercer (of Kingdom Hearts III, Critical Role, and Attack on Titan)"
I mean... you missed out Chrom his leading Nintendo role (and a couple of other recent Fire Emblem characters.)
Aww dang Jen Hale is an insta buy. That woman could read the phone book and I'd buy it.
Does anyone seriously buy a game based on the voice actors?
This seems weird to me.
This is by far the more clickbait-y title on Nintendo Life that I've seen.
TMW no ones heard of your game so you resort to name dropping off of your voice actors resumes.
If the biggest takeaway from the reveal is the pedigree of its voice actors, you really have to question the products quality.
I mean...look at it. It's a 20 dollar throwaway title from the depths of steams underbelly being flipped for the switch. Another piece of crap for the eshop pile. Next.
No love for Samus Aran? Jennifer Hale voices her too.
I liked Horizon and Mass Effect. This looks so cool.
The character designs look a lot like the Dragon Prince show on Netflix.
Real time combat with tactical pause? What is that?
Quite dashing for a debut game from Witching Hour!
@Jayofmaya I haven't played this game, but scores of cRPGs have what that could be describing. If you're strictly console, KOTOR, the first Mass Effect and Dragon Age are born from this DNA. Pillars of Eternity, Torment Tides of Numenara, and I believe the Divinity games also utilize this. Final Fantasy XII dipped its toes in these waters as well. Basically it means AI scripts let combat play out in "real time," and you can pause at any time to take a tactical view of the battle and assign direct actions to set up specific stratagems or combos, or intervene if your idiot party is about to get itself killed lol. I remember the last battle in Mass Effect turning into a borderline Turn-Based fight because of how much I tended to micro manage my squad's weapons and abilities during.
Again, I haven't played THIS game. I'm just familiar with that description for certain types of RPGs.
@Kisame83 oh yeah, of course. I love Dragon Age and ME. Never played KOTOR, sadly. :/
@Jayofmaya it goes on sale somewhat regularly! I'd recommend it. I dunno what you have access to, but I'll just list the options. It's backwards compatible as an Xbox Original. It's on Steam and Gog. Goes for about $10 when not on sale. Gog usually puts work into making sure their games work on modern hardware too. Though, I've played the Steam version for over a decade on a number of laptops, so most machines should run it.
There's also a quite respectable mobile port, on iOS and Android. I have both, and actually two Android copies- the Amazon appstore version has been useful in side-loading it onto devices that Google Play marked incompatible for random reasons. I believe the company behind this port also ported it to Mac.
@Kisame83 Thanks! I don't have a gog account so I'll try steam. Last game I got on there was Fallout 3 GOTY and I managed to get it to work on a windows 10 laptop even when it had issues so it shouldn't be a problem.
