Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Soundtrack Now Available, But Only In Japan

Charlosa

@Vriess In regards to your comment about it being sold by scalpers on Amazon.com, unless we're happy to say that Amazon themselves are the scalpers - then no, it's Amazon that are selling it for $193.99 + $51.27 shipping to the UK which will work out somewhere around the £195 mark in total. So yes, let's call Amazon a bunch of scaplers Amazon.co.uk have it for £230.48, which again considering that's Amazon itself selling it, it is ridiculous, considering the actual price in Japan (19800 Yen) works out to be about £105 + whatever the over the top shipping will be. So to all of you blaming Nintendo I'm not really sure how it's Ninty's fault for the scalpy pricing in the US and the UK when there's no way that Amazon couldn't simply bulk ship it for way less than those prices... I'm not saying that Nintendo shouldn't make the OSTs available in the west, but I guess that's why we have access to companies like PlayAsia, from whom I'm waiting for my delivery this morning. Please note, for anyone from the UK who decides to go down the PlayAsia route, just be aware that you'll probably be hit with a VAT request of 20% + courier admin fee for paying the VAT on your behalf when the package clears customs on arrival in the UK. As annoying as that additional fee is, I still managed to get the TotK OST LE and the SS OST LE for less than the UK Amazon price of the TotK OST LE.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Charlosa

It may have already been said, but I don't have the time to read through 245 comments to find previous references:
1. Don't give them stupid ideas! Just because Sony and MS do things, doesn't mean Nintendo have to copy them.
2. As someone pointed out (I did read the first couple of comments ) there isn't enough base storage, so any price saving gained by removing the card reader would be eaten in to, like Pac Man munching pills, by the cost of the additional storage. 3. In case it isn't obvious from the above, I really don't want Ninty to go the route of digital only. I like having the choice and knowing that if I want to sell the game once finished with, I can...

Re: Legendary Beasts Latias And Latios Are Raid Battle-Ready In Pokémon GO

Charlosa

A lot more people than it appears you'd realise @Heavyarms55
Without trying to sound precious, we still see loads of people playing, both in London and locally to where we live. So we certainly don't consider Pokemon Go to have been a fad, nor the other Trainer's that see daily...
On a lighter note, does anyone from Hawaii who's still playing know whether they have Latios or Latias on their gyms at the moment?
Cheers

Re: Pokémon GO's Gen III Trailer Is Narrated By Stephen Fry, Because Why Not

Charlosa

Would love it if they expanded on the premise of the advert and actually did a series of Pokemon wildlife videos, with a better voice over. If Attenborough isn't able, what about Patrick Stewart?
I doubt they could sell it to the networks, but as a web series, just to generally promote the brand some more, it could be quite enjoyable, if done properly...

Re: The Maps Offered In Splatoon 2 Will Rotate More Frequently

Charlosa

@thesilverbrick It's a tough one, because I don't doubt that a number of players drop out and in simply to change weapons, which is a real shame when you're winning match after match with the same group in Splatfest... Not sure there's an easy answer on this one - pre-match weapon choice would be nice, but the potential increase in delay between matches would annoy the pants out of me...

Re: The Maps Offered In Splatoon 2 Will Rotate More Frequently

Charlosa

@Powerballad Matches are short and sweet and as such generally frantic. From what I'm aware, there aren't that many other online games like it, so it's not easy to compare to other online games... Having put in the hours playing the game I for one think that Ninty got it right with their rotation implementation. Although I do think that the 2 hour rotation for Splatoon 2 is a good improvement...

I also think some people bemoan about Splatoon's game play decision-making because they feel entitled to choose how they want to play the game, not thinking through that Ninty probably spent many hours trying to find the best way for as many people as possible to get the most from the game, even if it was at the expense of a few who think they know better than the professional developer's...

Re: The Maps Offered In Splatoon 2 Will Rotate More Frequently

Charlosa

@thesilverbrick They could, but IMHO, it would be a terrible idea. Turf War matches last 3 minutes at a time, with a delay between matches while we wait for 8 players. In its current form, that delay could feel to long. To then have to wait for people to faff about picking a weapon set (and by your logic allow them to change outfits as well) before each match equals even more delay, which would ruin the game. That would peeve off a lot of the 'crack-like-play addicted' players, not least myself..

Re: Nintendo UK Has Begun Contacting Switch Hands-On Event Winners

Charlosa

@Hyperion In fairness, the Saturday PM was already booked out by about 10am, a couple of hours after I got my email on the 23rd Dec... So there was no guarantee of getting the Sat PM for those previously notified... Sat AM for my sins - so pleased to be going, just means a 7.30am start to the day, with a 13 YO nephew in tow :-S

Re: Rumour: Last Wii U Consoles Roll Off The Production Line This Week

Charlosa

Considering the immanent release of the Switch, I'm surprised by how much this makes me sad... I know that to many, admitting that you had a Wii U, yet alone liked it was like admitting that your besty is a ginger, but I love my Wii U and the quality of the games that I bought it for... Including, but not limited to MK8, Splatton, the Zelda remakes, SSB, SMW, SMM, etc...And in all honesty, I'm not sure yet as to whether I'll be playing Breath of the Wild on Wii U or Switch at this point...

Re: Pokémon GO Player Aims For Million XP In 24 Hours, Unwittingly Triggers Anti-Cheat Mechanism

Charlosa

He's clearly lucky enough to have access to a loop like that, but for me he's moved from playing for the fun of it, through hard-core gamer into the realms of "Gamer with an issue". If I wanted I can create a loop of 17 stops within a 5-10 minute walk (my pace and the damn GPS actually tracking me properly), but I'd never consider doing what he did (except maybe for charity).

On his comment "Games are meant to be played, and in my opinion played well." I'm in two minds - I can see why it comes across as arrogance and I do think that games should be inclusive to all, but I equally don't think you should be held back or restricted if you happen to be better at it than others, while playing within the rules and constraints of the game...

Re: Pokémon GO Finally Arrives In Japan

Charlosa

@gcunit I've only been playing since last Friday, so am technically still a newbie School-boy error's aside, I do hope the servers finally settle down and just allow us to enjoy the game

Re: Pokémon GO Finally Arrives In Japan

Charlosa

Yesterday was my best Pokemon Go day - it was stable, it didn't suddenly crash on me in the middle of finding my first and only Rhyhorn (still annoyed about that)...

I'm pleased that the Japanese can now get in on the action, but I'm already missing yesterday and the happy feeling of catching or not catching 'Mon because of my skills as a trainer and not because of stupid server issues....

Re: Splatoon's Last Splatfest is Next Month

Charlosa

Not saying it's happening, but wouldn't it be cool if you could activate the night time mode when scanning either Callie or Marie.

Shame that Splatfests are coming to an end, but as my wife will attest to, I've enjoyed spending my gaming time playing Splatoon...

Also, does anyone else think that when you click on the "Click a stage to vote" stage in the email sent this morning and you get taken to the Thank you page, that multiple votes count? It doesn't indicate that duplicate votes aren't counted

Re: Devil's Third Online Servers To Close At The End Of The Year

Charlosa

@MrWarner14 @PleaseUnderstan As much as I have been addicted to Splatoon, I'm not exactly sure I would bother putting the disc back in my Wii U once they turned the Multiplayer Servers off. Yes, @MrWarner14 you're correct that there is a single player element, but once completed (And it doesn't take long to do so - Amiibo missions inc.) there is no real reason to go back into the single player campaign... The game is all about multiplayer... I feel sorry for the Splatoon-Crack addicts that will one day have to go cold-turkey... Maybe Splatoon will be on the NX before that date...

Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Charlosa

@Ralek85 In fairness I haven't had a chance to watch through the game play from the Treehouse feeds, so I can't comment re the dips. I do agree with the last sentence @BensonUii made in the initial comment: "Unless there's framerate dips all over ruining the experience, it shouldn't matter." I know from experience that I'm willing to be more forgiving then some with frame rate dips, but equally I wouldn't put up with constant dips that were a complete distraction from the game - I just hope that that's not the case...

Re: Interview: Playtonic On Yooka-Laylee Progress And Its New 2017 Release Window

Charlosa

@LaRaposa Not sure I get the logic. Potential sales from a 10 million user Base and a developer keeping a promise against a currently unknown user base and a loss of face with those who dropped their hard earned money for the Wii U kickstarter campaign... Seems pretty obvious to me and so they appear to be doing the decent thing. Besides, if it sells well enough on Wii U, we know that a follow-up game will most likely appear on the NX... Everyone's a winner

Re: Video: Learn More About Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2

Charlosa

Two great games, which I always thought looked amazing on the Wii. Yes, I'd love to have seen 1080p 60fps remakes of both of them on the Wii U, but I'm not convinced we'd have seen improvements to blow our minds. As such, I just dream of Super Mario Universe on the NX... Bigger, better and Shinier...

Re: A Tetris Movie is in the Making

Charlosa

Or maybe it'll be like Battleship where they manage to shoehorn in the style of gameplay... And yes I'm weird, despite its cheesy story and acting, as a volume at max, popcorn movie I actually like Battleship...

Re: Nintendo Defeats Yet Another Patent Claim Against the Wii Remote

Charlosa

@Gerbwmu @Tasuki It would actually be higher because the 100 million plus units is the number of Wii's sold, not remotes. A quick Google hasn't brought up the figures, but back in 2010 there were articles that talked about 65 million Wii Remotes being sold in the US alone. Of those 65 million, 30.41 were sold with the Wii's themselves, so assume that on average every sold Wii had 1 additional remote sold, you're talking about at least 200 millions Wii remotes. So even with your conservative figure of $0.10 per unit, we're talking $20 million + in royalties...

Re: Nintendo NX Will Be Launched Globally in March 2017

Charlosa

I'm happy with this news... I'd already said that I didn't think that we'd see the NX this year. Although I am disappointed re the Zelda Wii U announcement...

Part of me is concerned about the potentially small number of games due for the Wii U this year (Yooka-Laylee is now looking like my biggest Wii U want this year). But from a slightly more selfish point of view it doesn't bother me, considering the backlog of games sitting on the shelf or in my library that I haven't even started on yet - mostly thanks to effing Splatoon... So roll on the NX reveal direct either at the end of this year or beginning of next...

Re: Video: Let the Hype Build With the Star Fox Zero Launch Trailer

Charlosa

Looks good to me, but hey what do I know... I spend all my gaming time playing non-realistic looking games which were created by a defunct games company who, by virtue of spending too much time creating solid fun experiences rather than cinematic carbon copies, is clearly doomed...

Cheers @Vandy for making me laugh
