As part of the Star Wars celebrations earlier this week, TT Games gave fans a look at the key art of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The company also shared some new screenshots and said there would be "nearly" 500 characters featured in the upcoming release, and that many of them would be playable.
One thing that wasn't revealed was a release date. While we already know the game is due out at some point this year, we don't know when exactly it will be arriving. According to a now-removed video on the official Star Wars YouTube page, it's expected to launch on 20th October. So it's still a while away if the date is correct.
When it is finally released, The Skywalker Saga will include content from all nine of the major Star Wars films - including the latest adventures from Rey, Finn, BB-8. and Kylo-Ren. Will you be trying out this LEGO Star Wars game on the Nintendo Switch whenever it does arrive? Leave a comment down below.

It’s Star Wars & Lego & co-op...I’m in.
Side note: can we PLEASE get online or wireless co-op in Lego games already?
Why did I think this game was closer to release then that?? I know the virus has changed a lot of release dates but this seemed ready to go soon.
@Spoony_Tech They still haven't shown gameplay, so it seems a bit further out
I sincerely hope this shows performance improvement over prior LEGO releases on Switch. Star Wars is far and away my favorite licensed LEGO property, really looking forward to this!
Do we know yet if it’s all new or if it’s a collection from the previous 3 plus new content?
Couldn’t be more excited.
If it doesn't have the RTS sections from Clone Wars, I couldn't care less. If I want to play a Lego game, I already have Lego Harry Potter and Marvel Super Heroes 2 on Switch. If it does have RTS sections, my wallet is ready.
@alexybubble that Clone Wars rts mode is still one of my favorite gameplay experiences
@ALinkttPresent It's all new.
I'm going to get this day one, but on the Xbox as that's where all my Star Wars games are.
Definitely picking this up. I've skipped out on LEGO games for the past few years but I've been trying to build up my catalog again lately, and I'm really excited for this one. Hoping to pick it up day one. Big LEGO and Star Wars fan.
Impressive! Most impressive! Off the top of my head, the removal of the date could be because of a simple typo, posting old, incorrect information, information that's supposed to be unrevealed as of yet, or it's a date they don't want to set in stone this early on, because of the very real possibility of setbacks, due to last-minute debugging, and/or Covid-19.
@ALinkttPresent Sounds like new levels. According to Wikipedia, there will be 45 levels (five per movie). The Wii collection had 36 levels (six per movie, not counting bonus levels).
@Incarna I don’t know man, I thought part 3 was one of the best and most definitely epic.
Funny how the "new cast" only looks like an afterthought on the cover. I like it, they seem to have got their illusions about the new saga out of their corporate heads.
@Incarna 100% This!
I don't know about you guys but i like all the movies. Of course the original trilogy is what made me a fan in the first place and it will always be my favorite! As for this new lego star wars I've been hearing for a while now that it's all new content. Good thing too cause i already have the used to be complete saga on wii.
9 epic films. So that would be the original trilogy, rogue one and what else?
@Incarna someone got in ahead of my predictable joke
The only one that almost bored me was solo. All of them even the original trilogy have their weak moments. ROTS had order 66 and the awesome Sidious vs yoda and Obi Vs anakin duel and if you didn't think that was epic you must be joking.
@Wormold ,
In the words of frozen "Let it go" fella, we get it you don't like the movies because they did not cater to your every whim, but get over it, if you don't like em don't watch em.
@awaltzforvenus,
They managed to get ego city undercover running at 1080p, so we should be o.k, just hoping the docked performance is better, as this will be a major reason to buy this version over the Xbox One.
@Incarna 😂😂😂
@johnvboy Good to know! I didn’t play that one, but fingers crossed The Skywalker Saga has similar performance. The issue I usually had with Switch LEGO games was frame rate, more than resolution. If they pull it off, my thumbs are ready.
@johnvboy "didn't cater for your every whim" is different to killing a massive franchise and then coming back, trying in vain to kill the dead remains even further.
@Moistnado,
A lot of people liked them, I am a massive fan of the series an like every movie, some are better than others, but overall I have fun watching every one of them, it's very easy to complain about things, but few offer very little insight how they woiuld have done things any better.
Am excited for this that it’s going to be a whole new game! I loved the complete saga but those overhead vehicle levels in 4 to 6 were rubbish! However that episode 3 opener reminiscent of star fox is killer. I know it’s an open world but I hope we get an awesome Death Star trench run! X x x
Off topic, but I really miss pre-WB Traveller's Tales. The LEGO formula is starting to get really old.
@Incarna "Three epic films, three admirable blunders, and three corporate cash-ins."
Day one for me, lego and Star wars, plus all 9 movies and some pretty cool hub worlds to explore, what's not to like.
@Dr_Corndog,
Not so sure about Return of the Jedi being an epic movie, it's good but far from the best in the series.
Well, there's my first big purchase target for autumn already.
@Incarna yes, and those films even epicly cut the franchise's fan plague down to size (even though the latter did manage to drive out Lucas himself in its destructive agony). No sarcasm implied.
this will probably be very nostalgic to me, I loved lego starwars back in the day!
@johnvboy shall I list the ways? No, too many people have already done so online, just Google all the massive lists. But I must confess that I was entertained by the last movie trying to redeem the franchise after last Jedi. Snoke clones. Palpatines kids being 'nobodies'. Luke having to continue his part as a ghost. 😂 very entertaining mess.
@Moistnado,
Yes because the internet is so full of armchair movie experts and critics, it's a wonder Hollywood is not falling over themselves to give these idiots a job.
@nhSnork,
It's funny the same people saying Lucas could have done better, were the same people complaining how bad the prequel movies were.
@johnvboy Lucas on Star Wars, Faust on My Little Pony, Sakaguchi on Final Fantasy - original creators and their choices are kicked around and bathed in mud like everything else, but their departures almost invariably turn them into convenient banners for nostalgic laments and other fan crowd pitchforks (at least unless/until the creator in question decides to share some unfulfilled ideas in public). After all, Conditional III makes a great vessel for everyone's individual whims and fantasies.
I wish there was a way to turn off negative comments about Star Wars when poking around on the internet. Impossible to read about my favorite series/universe these days.
I think Last Jedi is the best SW film since Empire, I think the new trilogy is better than the prequels, and I think just about every other film in the series is better than Jedi. But I also love them all.
Anyway, no matter how you feel about any of the films, can’t we all just be happy that this game looks like it’ll be a fun celebration of the entire series? Predictable “only three movies count” posts add nothing. All you’re doing is annoying people who like the series.
@Moistnado I felt the exact same way. RoS is such an awful, stupid movie, but I had fun watching it.
@johnvboy Maybe not, but that would ruin the symmetry of my comment.
I've never actually played any Star Wars LEGO games... so this seems fun. I'll probably get it right away!
I'd say 4 epic Movies👍
@Krambo42 ,
The prequels are o.k, but hampered with the most wooden dialogue, Yippeeee anyone.
The new movies are far better, and have humor injected into them, which is important with these types of film.
I'll pick it up. I picked up most of them in the past and the star wars ones where always my favorites. So looking forward to this one for sure.
"Rey Skywalker" in that cover art is just insulting.
@johnvboy I wouldn't say the prequels are good movies, but they're definitely better stories.
@rushiosan What, exactly, is “insulting” about it?
@Krambo42 The fact the game is called “Skywalker saga” but Anakin’s lightsaber is nowhere to be seen there, instead, we have the fanfic one, aka Episode IX’s trainwreck ending.
This cover is basically a reminder of how bad Disney screwed up.
@rushiosan Eh, I don’t feel insulted at all. Now, if they had left the main character of the most recent trilogy off the cover just because some people pretend they aren’t real, that would have been insulting.
@Krambo42 Yeah, you totally got the point here, bravo.
@Krambo42 To block out negative comments about Last Jedi from the internet, add 'customblocker' to chrome and block the term 'Last Jedi'.
The Star Wars saga 1 to 9 I will watch again and again. Are they amazing yes, are they kinda flawed yes, but they inspire my imagination. These films are made for 12 year olds that was what George Lucas said. They are an adventure. Here’s my list x x x
A new hope
Empire
Attack of clones
Return of Jedi
Phantom
Solo
Force awakens
revenge of Smith
Rouge 1
Last Jedi
Rise of palpatine ( couldn’t resist!)
Even though episode 9 is at the bottom I still very much enjoyed it! But a bit messy and box ticking, but hey endings are hard! The final space battle for me was a bit too zippy and murky hard to tell what was going on! X x x but anyway will watch loads of times. Loved attack of clones yeah some corny dialogue but a real sense of adventure and I love the jango obi wan ship face off with asteroids! X x will stop now x x Star Wars forever x
Did anybody else notice that Star Wars films got incrementally worse after Empire?
Most of these films are literal dog dirt and badly edited, overly long, boring and pointless.
I watch every single one with a little less hope that’s gonna be good every time. I loved Star Wars as a kid and now; now it’s just dire.
@Shinobi1Kenoby I have not noticed that.
@Incarna salty fans here!, get your salty fans! If you dont like it, that's cool, but noone wants your negativity regarding the franchise. And yes everyone loves the original trilogy, but the rest are really not as bad as people make it out to be. It is an epic 9 movie saga.
@Shinobi1Kenoby never noticed, I enjoyed them all. Sounds more like you are more describing CoD to me.
@hieronymus242 they are a blast!
@Krambo42 should watch them closer. It’s true.
They just aren’t films after Empire, they’re just wide show attraction set piece candy covered garbage. The latest three are the worst and being nothing to the story except recycling the original three. Absolutely awful.
@HXLXIII nope. If I was describing CoD, I’d use 1 word and 1 word alone. And I can’t type it here.
Star Wars has been garbage for a long time. It’s turned into the Hollywood youth playing on their jaded dads star power. Like Paris Hilton did off of her Dad’s global hotel chain, like Nicole Richie did of Lionel. Just utter vacuous nonsense playing on the names of their forefathers. Last three films in particular.
Empire was awesome. Everything else after.... 😒
Except Mandalorian which I was massively surprised and impressed with.
@awaltzforvenus From what I've heard it seems better than the other ones. I hope it does great Lego Star Wars was one of my first Wii games I ever played as a kid.
@Reigestugatensho I hope it’s great, too! LEGO Star Wars is too much fun.
@HXLXIII I'm kind of excited for this!
