@nessisonett I had zero issues, until this bug. I struggled hard to beat the final boss (like an hour trying) and then got the glitch. I was... Incensed is an understatement. I somehow beat it in one shot after and it was absolutely worth it, but wow. What a roller coaster ride of emotions that whole scene was
I was just rethinking my ranking now that I beat Dread, sand yeah. Other M is still very close to the bottom. Unless they overhauled the dialogue, the Ridley scene, the crying for Adam scene and the control scheme, it stays down there.
@CharlieGirl if Dread was bad, those folks saying "suck it up" would probably agree with the workers and blame that for the games downfall. But because it's a great game, they don't want to see the warts. Or... They support this practice because they ARE the toxic people in their offices.
Work can certainly be stressful. But you shouldn't feel threatened, afraid or like leadership is out to sink you.
As for Dread, it is an excellent game. Maybe get it used if you don't want to support the studio but still want to play? I hope Nintendo buys them out or something. Didn't they come in and fix Retro Studios during Prime 1's development because the workplace was intense, and after the Nintendo takeover workers were happier and under less crunch?
Woah, that price is absolutely absurd. We better have more content coming to justify $50. I desperately want Mario Kart 64 online though so I'll probably be stupid and upgrade :-/
As a huge Metroid fan, I want this SO bad. But I can't justify paying more than the $90 that it's supposed to be. I followed a couple of the links above knowing that they'd be out of stock but now it's even worse- the links say "Add to cart" but it never actually adds to the cart. It's such a torment!
I am tempted because I love new and pretty things, but considering I mostly play in docked, I don't think it's a necessary, justifiable purchase for me. Even the 3DS XL to New 3DS XL jump I made was more excusable.
Plus I don't want to grab it and then a year from now see a Pro coming out
@RevrsblSedgewick this stage is dull. I never played Kingdom Hearts, but bring me into that castle. Why are we floating around it and not even landing on it? Land us on those obstacles, like in the Pokemon Tower, Skyloft or Mario Kart 8 arenas. Boring waste.
@SalvorHardin I wanted Doom Guy, but the Mii costume is fine with me. It would have been pretty difficult to make him kid friendly without losing his character, and the Mii costume reminds me of the little Doom Guy figures you find hidden in the 2016 game
@Desrever this is my hope too. I couldn't get the Loftwing amiibo before release, but then a month later it was everywhere. I'm hoping for that availability for the Dread Amiibo double pack. Now as for the collectors edition, ugh. Who knows if that will be back in stock or not.
@RandomNerds if they could just give the option for last man standing (like SNES, N64, and DD), allow an option for no time limit, and give us some arenas like or similar to Block Fort (the best arena) it would be a step on the right direction. But until then, MK64 battle is still undefeated
Other people may be disappointed, bit Mario Kart 64 online is everything to me. It's all I've been asking for since they released Super Mario Kart's online functionality.
Now I just need to find people to play Mario Kart 64 with online, or beg my friends. That battle mode is unrivalled, and is my favorite video game experience
I wanted to wait and receive this as a gift for the holidays (I'm still a little kid at heart that loves getting videos games Christmas morning.) However, I'm afraid of my nephews, YouTube, this site or Nintendo themselves spoiling the whole game for me so I may have to get it Day One and not go online until Mission Complete.
I got Zero on the Wii U for cheap. I played the first level, and LOVED it because I was able to play watching only the TV screen... Until the boss fight. That was too frustrating, I easily beat that boss but haven't gone back in months.. the dual screen mechanics were horrible
@greehnery I know they said it's Prime 4, but it's also possible that they drop that subtitle and just make it a new Metroid story in the same style as MP Trilogy.
@Clyde_Radcliffe @Clyde_Radcliffe other than Banjo, I have been "meh" with most third party dlc characters- but a couple of my friends lost their minds with Joker, Sephiroth and Pyra so I'm happy for them.
Part of me is like... Why did Captain Toad, Impa, Skull Kid, Urbosa/champions and other Nintendo characters miss a spot, but characters with games not even on Nintendo systems are here?
@mlj11 maybe it's because I was a kid when I was playing Super Metroid, but knowing exactly who he was and knowing I was approaching his chamber... It was such a high level of tension and anxiety, and then add his battle music, the name didn't matter.
@Hav I miss them too. I still have my Ocarina of Time manual, it's hidden in my childhood photo album. It drives me nuts that there's a space holder for a manual in the Switch cases but never any manuals.
@Stubborn_Monkey I don't think they will be the only antagonists. I don't know if it's a spoiler or not (granted this article has spoilers for Samus Returns secret ending) but the Galactic Federation has to be PO'd with Samus for killing off the Metroids from their super-secret projects at the Bottle Ship and BSL. They likely want her out of the picture.
@UmbreonsPapa I'd like Mario to get a makeover (they've been using pretty much the same character models since 2002) so I'd be down for them experimenting with this... But I think a Yoshi game may fit better with this weird claymation style
I haven't played any of the Cruisin games since Cruisin USA 64 (which I loved). Apparently the games took a left turn somewhere after that lol. It does look more like a San Francisco Rush descendant.
@HamatoYoshi which I clarified in a response above, that it was a sign that the kid cared, not the reason he cared.
And reading the rest of your comments replying to others, it's clear you don't care about other people getting representation they want because YOU want to live in a fantasy land and gaming is all about YOUR needs. Folks can live in a fantasy land and still see some semblance of themselves.
Maybe, maybe not a troll, but I'm still not impressed.
@HamatoYoshi they were already hearing about BLM from their mother and everything happening in the news last year and didn't understand why other people were so against it. His decision to download that character showed that it actually struck a cord with him, it didn't take a video game to just think "oh hey black people are cool too."
More representation is never a bad thing. Growing up nearly all characters in my games were white, except in wrestling games. I can imagine being a younger POC of the 80's/90's and wondering "why doesn't anyone look like me?"
A month ago I saw my Fortnite obsessed nephews, and right smack in the middle of one of their hour long rantings (about this game I couldn't care less about) my 7 year old nephew dropped, in a very serious, sincere tone "I downloaded a pretty cool black character, because Black Lives Matter."
I was stunned. And proud. Kids get it, why can't adults?
@chapu2006 this is why I can't stand Daisy and Rosalina, characters that are very popular to others. One literally dresses like Peach, but in yellow with brown hair and a different cut. The other looks like if Peach decided to be a fairy instead. At least Pauline had a different design.
If it's real, I bet it would be between July and October next year. Gives enough time for Dread to have had it's spotlight, and far away enough from whenever Prime 4 is, that it doesn't steal sales from either.
@nessisonett didn't they have a squad of loftwing riders constantly patrolling the air around Skyloft? I vaguely remember trying to jump off on purpose, and always getting caught by some guy in goggles who would then scold me
My ranking is: Super/ Prime 1 Prime 3 Samus Returns Prime 2 Fusion/Zero Mission (would be higher if these games didn't tell you where to go) Other M (LIVED parts of it, but story/characterisation issues, awkward control swap) Metroid / Return of Samus
@TheJGG I had only seen the "Whilst thou soar... Or whilst thou suck" version until recently. I definitely like that one more than the "play like a girl" version
I played a level 9 Kazuya in team gauntlet mode, he was the final fighter of the opposing team. He obliterated my Young Link but I managed to take him down with Zelda. He kept spamming that beam attack from across the stage and I just kept reflecting it back at him, them closer to him with Dins Fire and the Teleport move
I loved the way Zero looked. It just was way too awkward in it's controls.
I would love a game with 64's control scheme, but new planets, storyline, perhaps new squad to replace Peppy and Slippy, or it let you choose who flies with you, etc. Like how Slippy tells you the enemy health, Peppy tells you the weakspot, Falco points out the shortcuts, maybe the new squad mate gives you a special weapon, and another retrieves upgrades for you so you don't have to fly to them or something. So there's a benefit to replaying the game again but taking different people.
So the special edition is in stock through the Nintendo store in the UK but nowhere else. Unfortunately can't order and ship to US Hoping Nintendo America opens up a way to purchase on their site, eBay is overflowing with the scalpers overpriced listings.
@AgentGuapo I had been looking everywhere, most stores hadn't listed yet... Ran some errands, came back and they're all gone. This is bull. I know it's mostly scalpers which just makes the blow that much worse.
I want that special edition and the amiibo so bad, I will be PEEVED if scalpers ruin the chance for me. I can't wait for them to go on sale just so I can secure them.
Metroid Dread and Mario Party were the winners for me: the "resurrection" of a dead game, continuing a story left hanging 19 years ago, and a revisiting to the time when Mario Party kept me up all night in 1999. And I'm willing to try out the new Cruisin' game, I loved Cruisin' USA 64 even though it was considered pretty bad.
Zelda is one of my 3 favorite series, but for some reason trailers for new games never excite me, it's only when I start playing that the excitement blows up. So BOTW2 trailer did nothing for me, but I know I'll be in love when I hold it.
I wanted much more from this Direct after 2 years, but once Metroid was announced, it didn't matter.
Didn't they do The Last Story? I would love to get a Switch remaster. I don't think it will happen as it wasn't the most popular if the Project Rainfall games... I've just been longing to replay that, and sold my copy years ago when I needed money and to downsize
What I want: Super Mario RPG.
Turtles in Time.
Mario Paint. I probably wouldn't play it much, but I'd love to mess around with it, and reminisce about Christmas '92 when I was little and obsessssssed with it
What I've played most: I play Super Mario Kart a lot, and I'd probably play more if anyone I knew liked it. My brother and boyfriend will play a couple rounds with me but I can tell they'd rather move on to MK8D. I've also played a good amount of All-stars on the Switch. Ive played Super Metroid to death over the years, so I'm waiting at least a couple more before I jump into it again on the NSO service.

If this is download only, on a cart, or a combo cart/download I'm absolutely all in.
But if it's a Cloud version on Switch, **** no, never.
I may play my Switch mostly in docked but I bring it everywhere with me, and don't always have reliable Wifi. I don't want that restriction.
