Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #60 - Metroid: Other M

All the complaining about Mario 3D Allstars has really annoyed me, so I shouldn't turn around and do the same for M:OM here.
The graphics were incredible, looked almost HD at some points. Some of the boss battles were amazing, like Ridley (intro abomination aside), Phantoon, and a couple others I've forgotten. I liked the atmosphere and tenseness- they had something interesting going with the Deleter, even if they didn't finish it.

I voted for the Japanese cover. Something about the weird fading around Samus' armor in the US version puts me off.

My only complaint is no SMG2. To be honest I didn't care for SMG 1 or 2 the first time around because I hated the forced motion controls, but I'm beyond excited to play SMG1 with standard controls this time.

Other than that, I wasn't expecting much. SM64 not being completely remastered like OOO3D or MM3D were doesn't bother me that much. I played it a couple years ago and it still holds up in my opinion.

Now next year if they do a Zelda 3D collection for that 35th anniversary and it's the 64 versions of Ocarina and Majora's Mask, then I'll riot. Those games did NOT age well, and the 3DS versions but in HD would be my expectation

I was playing Super Mario Allstars on SNES online last night and noticed that the "Select Game" font was the same one they used for the Year of Release in this new collection. That might be where it came from and why they used it again.

Edit: Checked again, and its not the same font exactly, but its a similar style

12 of 18. The Jolly Roger Bay question one tripped me up. I think Dire Dire Docks is the name of the track that plays in Jolly Roger Bay so as soon as I saw the DDD option, I clicked.

I'm surprised I got so many right from the games I haven't played like Mario Land and Sunshine, but messed up the Super Mario World ones (the game I've played the most besides 64!)

I absolutely love Allstars. I grew up with both versions, and I will always choose Allstars over the originals. The weird flickering on the side of the screen in NES' 3 bothers me, and I just get bored when playing the NES games, 1 in particular.

I also tried the Advance remakes, and hated the voices (Birdo's in particular was unsettling) and the controls did not feel right for me.

This release reminded me of how irritated I was as a child when they changed Princess Toadstool's hair from brown to blonde in Allstars Mario 2 to match Mario World.
I was oddly opinionated about these things as a child. Her hair not matching the cartoon really angered me hahaha. And don't get me started on her name change years later...

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Sold More Copies Than The Entire Metroid Franchise

For starters, Nintendo maybe shouldn't release the series games so late in a console's life cycle. IIRC, Prime 1 did the best in the whole franchise and that's because it released within the first year or two of the GameCube. The most obnoxious example is Samus Returns coming out for the 3DS months after the Switch. Unless you were already a fan of the series, you were not going to go back and pick up a game for a dying console when the Switch was all the hype.

Then there's also that we are a very vocal minority who love these games. Over the last couple years I tried to get my friends and boyfriend into Prime and Super, and they all had issues picking them up and getting into them :-/
