Die By The Blade, a 'one-hit-kill' fighting game that's been crowdfunding on Kickstarter, has smashed its goal to secure a release on Switch.
A promising looking affair, Die By The Blade is inspired by the likes of Bushido Blade and Way of the Samurai, having players choosing their character, selecting their favourite sword, and taking on the opposition for some tasty one-on-one combat.
It will boast a single-player campaign against the AI as well as "intense, fast-paced multiplayer". Peter Nagy, founder and CEO of publisher Grindstone, says that "With this funding, the team will be further adding to the gameplay experience with higher quality animation, expanded character roster and even more weapons."
The team's not done there, though, as stretch goals have been put in place to get even more content into the game when it eventually releases. You can check out the Kickstarter campaign here if you're interested in learning more and backing the project – it still has eleven days to go.
The game's currently scheduled for a June 2021 launch, so if you're liking the look of it, a Kickstarter pledge should hopefully secure you a copy for that timeframe.
Will you be backing the game? Are you a fan of what you've seen so far? Let us know in the comments.

That name made me think that they were remaking Die by the Sword which was a very innovative game of the 90s, and that would have been awesome. Hopefully people will enjoy this weapon fighter.
how many kickstarter pledges goals for wii u switch games got canned.
@Anguspuss well... wii u in the sentence says it all... but actually I think a lot of switch kickstarters actually came to fruition which obviously did not happen on the wii u. Although I applaud your non optimistic outlook because this game looks too cool... not sure if I can resist...
Sounds pretty similar to that One Strike game that's on Switch already
Looks promising!
Why there is no sword fighting game using joy-cons motion control? Are there enough data from sensors to simulate wielding a real sword?
@Kulhy I'm sure it's possible, but motion controls aren't quite at the point where they'd be optimal for precision fighting games, especially weapon fighters where one hit is death. Maybe as a side mode.
@Ghostchip still waiting for boardgame from kickstarter still get updatess since then had 2 kids and both are at school now and emigrated 3 years ago and learned a 3rd language lol
@Kulhy I think that sort of thing makes all the sense in the world until you consider what it's like to block. So all the "real" dies immediately in practice.
Awesome. Another Bushido Blade type Kickstarter failed a while back, so I thought this was a lost cause. Glad they have the money, now they just need to make a game. That's the easy part, right?
